It really shouldn’t have been that close, but a good win regardless.

GOOD GAME JAZZ WAY TO PLAY A DOMINATING COMPLETE GAME OF BASKETBALL THAT DID NOT GENERATE ANY ANXIETY WHATSOEVER NOTHING TO SEE HERE EXCEPT AN EASY JAZZ W HAHAHA WHAT A COMFORTABLE WIN AM I RIGHT

  3. Clarkson needs to pass the ball.

Hate to give him so much blame but he also didn’t even bother trying to defend

    GAME NOTES:

First shoutout is for the Hornets announcers. I absolutely love them, the energy they bring is so fun. I always make sure I watch their broadcast when we play them.

This game was another tale of two halves. We were absolutely demolishing the Hornets in the first half. We broke the record for most points scored in a first quarter in franchise history with 47, and we broke the record for most points scored in any half in franchise history with 82 tonight. We continue our streak of 120+ point games with 11, which is now second in all time NBA history.

But damn that third quarter our bench played like ass on both ends and made it kinda interesting again. Charlotte cut it down to 7 late after we were up by 36.

Lauri Markkanen came out of the gate on fire. In the first quarter, he already had 18 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and shot 6-8 from the field, 4-6 from 3. By the end of game, he had 33 points on 12-18 shooting, 7-12 from 3, 12 rebounds, 3 assists tonight. He didn’t play too much in the second or third quarter, but had to come back in to close the Hornets out in the fourth. He had an insane [pirouette shot](https://twitter.com/JazzLead/status/1751402622958162400/video/1) that pretty much encapsulates the type of first half he was having. An absolutely stellar game by our all star. He was whacked the the floor by Cody Martin (inadvertently), so hopefully it doesn’t disrupt his play. He got up after, but it was a pretty hard whack on the head late in the game.

One additional note on Lauri is his shot chart. He didn’t record a single FGA in the second quarter, 3 in the 3rd quarter, and just 2 shots in the 4th. We need to get him going more and we need to get him the ball.

Collin Sexton came out of the game looking like DWade to Lauri’s LeBron James. He had 17 points, 6 assists, 7-10 shooting 3-5 from 3 in the first quarter, and ended with 24 points, 9-19 shooting, 3-7 from 3, 4 rebounds (2 offensive), 13 assists, 2 steals, and 2 turnovers. His first quarter definitely carried his performance, but I want to highlight his 13 assists to 2 turnovers. He had a [crazy assist](https://twitter.com/JazzLead/status/1751423499355533562/video/1) that ended with an Agbaji 3 that was insane. A fun game from Collin on both ends, and his intensity was missed in the 3rd quarter where we really let off the gas pedal.

John Collins had another great game for us. 9-13 shooting, 1-4 from 3, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks tonight for 19 points total. His interior defense in the first quarter wasn’t too good, and he stepped up as an interior defender in the second quarter and second half. He had a flurry of dunks, slamming it in 6 times tonight. We had a big 3 tonight in Lauri, Sexton, & Collins

Jordan Clarkson struggled tonight, 14 points, 6-13 shooting, 1-5 from 3, 1 rebound, 2 assists tonight. He just seemed like he was trying to do too much, especially in the third quarter. He seemed to be a bit frustrated at something, but I couldn’t figure out why. Hopefully it isn’t with any of our players. Down the stretch it was just JC ISO, and it really, really, really hurt us. Clarkson took some bad shots, and desperately needed to pass the ball more. Just 2 assists tonight is terrible, especially considering how many ISO possessions he had.

Kelly Olynyk was on triple double watch going into halftime, but after a poor 3rd quarter it pretty much ended it. He finished with 6 points on a perfect 2-2 shooting and 1-1 from 3, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 4 turnovers. Some of his passes were on point, but some of them looked just ugly. But, that’s the Kelly Olynyk experience. I wasn’t mad at his performance.

Walker Kessler had a great game, 10 points 5-6 shooting, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He officially passed 1,000 career points tonight! He was fed a number of alley-oops, so it makes it easy, but credit to his hands. Some of the passes were bullets or pretty tough to catch, and he was able to securely grab them. He had 2 turnovers, and both of them was when he tried to put the ball on the floor.

Keyonte George had a fairly quiet game, 10 points, 2-5 shooting, 1-4 from 3, 5-5 from the line, 1 assist, 1 turnover in 13 minutes. His third quarter was rough, but I don’t necessarily think it was all on him. Some of his 3PA were a bit head scratching, but I’m not worried about it, he’s a rook.

Agbaji had 5 points on 2-5 shooting, 1-3 from 3, 2 rebounds, 2 assists in 16 minutes. He had a nice pass in the pick n roll to Kessler in the second quarter, and he connected on that 3 from a nice pass from Sexton, but that seems to be all I could see that he did. His defense wasn’t a factor in my eyes.

Kris Dunn 7 points, 3-4 shooting, 1-1 from 3, 4 rebounds (2 offensive), 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 turnover in 17 minutes. He needs to be playing more, simple as that. His dynamic with our starters is too good to break up.

This game should not have been this close. We absolutely shit the bed in the second half and almost allowed Charlotte to come back. We couldn’t stop PJ Washington who shot a whopping 17-22, 7-9 from 3 for 43 points off the bench. Also credit to Nick Richards for 10-11 shooting, 26 points, 13 rebounds. WTF… monsters

Some good things: We shot 56/42/77 tonight, had 49 rebounds to CHA 35, had 38 assists on 52 buckets, and only had 13 turnovers. We also had 6 guys in double figures. 70 points in the paint tonight

Some bad things: We allowed Charlotte to come back from down 36 to make things very interesting. JC had poor shot selection, Sexton disappeared after the first quarter scoring-wise. We gave up 28 points in transition. We also only shot 2-8 from corner 3’s this game which is one of the best shots to shoot in basketball. We generated some good looks in the corner, but just couldn’t knock them down.

Overall not a bad game, but should’ve been a blowout.

    24-23

  5. The first half was beautiful, it’s how Jazz should play like (ball movement, giving the ball to Lauri). The second half was a masterpiece of…

  6. KlythsbyTheJedi

As someone who really wanted a sub-100 point defensive game, that second half was extremely annoying.

  7. FERFreak731

Jazz are Walker Kessler – Lauri Markkanen now

At least reading the boxscore I didn’t miss a Walker Kessler triple double

  8. I was only able to watch from the second half so that low key just felt like a loss lol

At least they held on, but not close games staying not close would be preferable.

  9. That 2nd half help defense was awful. They made every shot they wanted at the rim, we had no toughness down there.

Glad the offense was better than the defense.

  10. Bobblefighterman

well… a win is a win, good to get a game over .500.
