NBA Insider Ian Begley reacts to loss of Julius Randle during Knicks win vs Heat | SNY

Thank you so much here with our NBA Insider Ian Begley after the Knicks beat the heat 125 to 109. But we got to talk about the injury to Julius Randle that ended the game pretty much late in the fourth quarter what exactly happened and he landed on his right shoulder.

He landed on his shoulder and he suffered a dislocation to that shoulder. He is heading for an MRI after the game here to the hospital the x-rays here at the arena showed that there was a dislocation not a separation. So that’s a bit of positive news, but Not going to know

Many details and you until you see the MRI. You see what the damage is around the shoulder. So I think at the very least you’re talking about 34 weeks without Julius Randle here and that is a significant blow for the next. Yeah. What kind of

Void would that absence leave? If he were to missing difficult time like that? Yeah, massive massive because behind Jalen Brunson, he has been the guy on offense for this team. They’re going to be much smaller in the immediate future. I don’t know which way they go maybe it’s Josh Hart

Goes to the start. Lineup, but that will have to figure something out over the next couple of days here but bigger picture February 8th trade deadline think this probably changes their plans a bit because if he’s going to be out extended time you need somebody to eat those minutes you need

Somebody to take that spot and they really can’t get anything of significance without Evan Fournier and Quinton Grimes and probably draft compensation and a deal. So it’s tough calculus for the next now moving forward. Yeah. He is someone who normally Pete’s please through pain like that.

So definitely cause for concern after seeing him immediately walk off the floor one person who did return from injury, Isaiah hartenstein. He missed two games after an Achilles injury, but what did you think of his return? Yeah. It’s just good for the next to

Have him back on the court because he was there lynchpin in the wake of Mitchell Robinson’s injury. I think he really held everything together. So the idea that he was banged up and missing time was a concern for the Knicks. He’s back only played. I believe 16

Minutes and he was limited there. But just the idea that he can get back on. The court is big. Big because that resets the center rotation that makes things a little bit more normal for a NIC team. That’s probably not going to have Julius Randle for a while.

Unfortunately, well next up for the next they had to Charlotte on Monday to play the Hornets Ian. Thanks.

SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley and Michelle Margaux discuss the Knicks losing Julius Randle to a dislocated shoulder late in Saturday’s game, taking the shine off what was big win over rival Miami. Ian terms the loss of the power forward, “a significant blow to the Knicks.” It will force New York to go with a smaller lineup and may change their approach to the upcoming NBA trade deadline February 8th.

  1. truly wishing Randle a speedy recovery and we need this man on both ends of the floor, but truly on that play randle should've went for a jump shot and not a lay up quite honestly

  2. massive as they chortle. injuries are part of the game. deal with it. start achura at pf and sims at backup center. scoring will suffer but defense will be fine. keep the bench intact.

  3. I believe OG will will surprise people with more offense. Remember he said wanted a bigger role in Toronto now he has a new opportunity to build chemistry with him as the second option. While we wait 4 Randall and mitch to come back

  4. I think this is a good thing. I believe this will force us to make a trade. Also, it would allow us to see us play without julius in case he disappears in the playoffs.

  5. He'll probably be out for 4 to 6 weeks , and now the trade discussion will go to a completely different position , as we know that when a dislocated shoulder happens once , it can easily happen again , especially in the first 3 months of the injury , and we don't wanna be without a P.F coming playoff Time.

Maybe we should bring back Obi , as he lost his starting 5 position to Siakam , just Joking…

Hope everything is going to be fine for Julius

  6. I thought nobody liked Randle anyway? Well, now we get to see what the team looks like without him.

  7. NYKs should not panic at trade deadline and waste 1st round draft picks for rental. Time for others to step up and shine beside Brunson. Opposing teams will now focus to defend Brunson vs where they were previously defending both attacks from Randle and Brunson. Get well soon Randle, but knowing him he will play through a dislocated shoulder. It’s 2-4 weeks for recovery, but if determined with rehabbing it can be way less.
