PRESS CONFERENCE: Jayson Tatum on loss to Clippers

PRESS CONFERENCE: Jayson Tatum on loss to Clippers

Jason when the whole team is kind of shooting poorly like that what kind of Joe is just talking about putting pressure on the defense what what kind of pressure is there on there uh on you guys out there in transition or just just at when you’re not shooting the way

Uh you expect to I mean well kind of pressure is tough uh when we feel like we was getting good looks and uh you know we just didn’t really shoot the ball well some of our possessions could have been better but uh you know it was

Just a tough night for us and then uh you know unfortunately we kind of let our offense affect our defense and they got a lot of leak outs and um easy ones in transition uh how would you explain the extreme difference from you know Miami

To tonight and how do you guys go about making sure that it doesn’t linger and you just move on from tonight uh just have short-term memory um you know there’s nothing we can do to change it essentially and um you know take it on the chin we didn’t play well they they

Deserved the win um and get ready for Monday even though most of the game was a struggle in the fourth quarter the the bench unit had 36 points and actually played pretty well um what did you see out of them and how hard is it you think

For them to be able to come in engaged when you guys are losing versus most of the time when they’re coming out and you guys are blowing teams out you see a difference in kind of the way they approach those opportunities absolutely give those guys a lot of credit um you

Know they stay ready whenever their opportunity and number is called and um you know even nights when the game is kind of um you know slipping away from us they still came in and gave maximum effort so uh you know it was really good to see that Jason Joe’s talked a lot

About attacking switching this year you guys have made progress with that especially after that Warriors loss what were they doing defensively that kind of stalled some of the passing and ways you’ve attacked switching before I mean they got some really good Defenders over there so it’s not as obvious um on who

To attack but you know I think the answer is just to continue to move um and play with pace and you know attack back and you know draw help and and kick its open guy they were good at disrupting passing Lanes just kind of throwing show said

They really threw off your timing moving the ball so when the defense is kind of has a feel for how you guys are trying to move it how do you try to counter that and get a feel throughout the game of how to time the offense yeah I think

We just can’t be predictable uh you know you have to be decisive right uh and try to manipulate you know the defense they have schemes they’re well coached they got good players over there so um you know you got to got to throw counter punches at them um and make adjustments throughout the

Game Jason you had that moment uh you got an ovation from the fans when they said on the Jumbotron that you were named the All-Star team can you talk about that moment and what that relationship at the Garden crowd feels like uh that was great very special um

You know sure a lot of people in there voted for me to help make that happen so uh you know it’s a cool moment that uh kind of show my appreciation that I was really grateful for that moment and you know thankful for the fans uh you mentioned the difference

Between the Heat game and and this game tonight porzingis was a huge part of the offense in the Heat game how do you guys adjust to not having him on the floor as sort of that release valve and it felt like the ball was stopping a bit more

Tonight how do you you know change when he’s out yeah uh you know obviously we play a little different when he’s not out there uh but you know we still have answers and you know we feel like we have enough to win um um and you know we

Still have to have a certain identity on how we want to play um and how we want to attack U but tonight you know we we just didn’t shoot the ball nearly as well as uh we would like to presented by your New England Ford dealers built for America built for proud

  1. The clippers have one guy who has been there and done that. Kawhi the difference in any series between them. Luckily the Celtics won’t meet them in playoffs unless they meet in finals

  2. Clippers have four major all stars with high basketball IQ, high offense and defensive threat. It’s no surprise Celtics got blown out.

  3. Everybody shot bad tonight. Not what you want to see, but coming off a long road trip they didn’t have their legs. Wouldn’t be shocked if they go 6-0 the rest of the way on this home stand.

  4. Tatum gives the worst answers after a loss. 1) Championship teams don’t get blown out. 2) after you miss a bunch of 3’s start driving to the hoop. 3) We need to work on go to plays in the last few minutes of crunch time games 4) Mazzoulla needs to make a damn adjustment when we’re getting our asses kicked. It’s not oh we just didn’t play good. Move on and forget about it. No remember this and change it! You wanna win a title or not?

  5. I'm just concerned because we've lost a lot to these teams that matter in the playoffs. And I hate this "on to the next", "short term memory" mentality, you should remember these games so you learn from and be angry about them…
