This game to the Atlanta Hawks there are a lot of positives to take away from this game so we’re going to break that down some of the younger players on this Raptors group really impressing specifically War and what it means for this team going forward for the rest of

Was sort of a microwave sort of scorer but he really impressed me we I figured he’d come in and have some games where he hit some 3s Off the Bench you know press along those lines but he did pretty well everything in his first moment of extended run with the Toronto

Raptors obviously with RJ Barrett Emanuel quickley and obviously AA purle out in this game Jordan war was given a Long Leash and man he really ran with this opportunity in this game here tonight still off the bench in 31 minutes 24 points nine rebounds six assists and was hustling out there on

The defensive end three to seven from the three-point line I thought he did a solid job he missed a couple shots around the rim again war is a guy that he’s nice jumper on him he’s a high IQ basketball player made some great sort of facilitations you know driving the

Lanes and stuff still finishing around the rim isn’t uh probably his strongest suit but he got to the free throw line he got in there extremely well and even if the touch wasn’t great around the rim I absolutely loved his decision-making and that’s really the big thing when you

Have players that sort of have some potential you know coming into your team and stuff sure they’re not going to be perfect you’re not going to be able to get guys on a bargain get steals if they’re already completely polished players but the toughest thing to sort

Of uh train in the NBA is probably a high basketball IQ and I thought War even though there were a couple shots that were kind of chucked and things like that I think he did a really good job at just making the right pass taking the right shots knowing what he was able

To hit know what he was able to make and then hit be creating along those lines and really down at the end of this game you know could have been the game-winning game saving defensive Play Trey young was getting some ridiculous some dumb sort of foul calls late and

Then it was getting superious he flopped again Jordan Ward just had his hands up took a completely Square in the chest full court you know after the Raptors weren’t able to convert on a game t or jump ahead basket you know down the stretch but he made an outstanding

Defensive stop got the ball to grd Dick who threw it to Scotty Burns I believe underneath the rim to put the Toronto Raptors up by one and I was really happy really really happy with darkar rakovic is decision- making and the rotations that he sort of made because again this

Season is about development here now at this point whether we’re winning whether we’re losing whether we’re on that sort of tank again the old tank graphic I still have it pulled up we need some new faces on it here now at this point but the r the Raptors competed in this game

But we also had our younger players out there on the court and War obviously is a guy that is not a guaranteed piece a part of our future just yet he’s going to have to sort of be a little bit more consistent obviously I don’t expect him

To sort of have 24 points per game On Any Given night here now but if he can sort of develop or show that he’s sort of a legitimate scorer and does the little things cuz again hasn’t hasn’t had a big sample size in terms of games played with the Indiana Pacers or

Specifically the Milwaukee Bucks he had some moments some stretches where he looked like a steal for the Milwaukee Bucks a couple seasons ago but now with the Tron Raptors will probably get some development at the end of the season might prove himself to be an actual long-term piece for this group I mean

You know be a floor spacer looking at Gary Trent Jr he was able to net himself you know close to $20 million per year I don’t know if that’s going to be a consistent thing but 3 spacing sort of wing players that are competent on the defensive end again got dinged with a

Couple weird fouls from Trey young and things like that but those types of players are valuable so you know nice piece to sort of have added on that was kind of felt like a throwing in the Pascal seak trade I was really happy with how he performed in tonight’s game

For the Toronto Raptors but a guy that will be a part of the future and was happy sort of that played some minutes down the stretch was Grady dick who in this one again the past week or so the past week and a half he’s been getting

An extended run he’s been getting out there on the basketball court and he does the little things man I said at the beginning of the year he is not just your prototypical just you know he’s talking to Kyle corver ahead of the game who’s one of the best spot up Shooters

In NBA history but didn’t do a whole lot else out there on the basketball court Grady dick does a lot and again he’s not an outstanding finisher you know he’s not a guy that’s going to be crazy you know super strong core strength going to the basket you know be able to take

Contact and finish he had a couple finishes which were definitely off balance you know deari Carol ESI going in and looking a little bit awkward but he’s confident enough to take those and he does have some moments where you know especially in the first half he had a

Nice dunk he had some nice drives he’s strong enough to the point where again no one’s going to call him an elite finisher but he’s a capable finisher with his size basketball IQ you know driving into lanes and stuff some rookie decisions some rookie mistakes here and

Then one time on The Fast Break kind of waited hesitated to sort of finish and then Trey young ended up stripping him but these are the development moments we’re going to need from our 20-year-old Grady dick right that’s sort of what you want to see out there but he is a fiend

Out there getting rebounds hustling and I said at the beginning of the year even though he would get cooked for certain possessions but since he’s been back and I joked uh during the New York Knicks game with our creator Chris down at Nicks digest we watched that game live

Dariel was there also but I was saying it to Chris directly Grady dick has just been getting stop after stop after stop in that game and watching it you know it’s easier to see it when you’re actually in person but he’s taking it Square in the chest players are driving

In on him and he’s developed some strength from where he was at just at the start of this year again no one’s going to call grd Dick just yet an elite defensive stopper again just like you’re not going to call him an elite finisher around the basket but there’s clearly

Been some steps taken up and he’s a dog out there he is hustling he’s doing his best to sort of really just you know go after it and that’s what we want to see again some rookie calls aren’t going his way some nights where he’s just not

Hitting shots like in that Clippers game wasn’t really hitting his shots but he did the little things out there on the court which should earn him minutes especially on a team right now that again when I say the word tanking I’m looking at the roster we’re not

Purposely losing games we saw it here tonight we had that effort we did everything we could the Toronto Raptors in terms of uh you know trying to get the W but we have a younger team and we don’t really have that many uh that much front Court depth so we’re going to lose

Some games that’s what I use the word tanking it’s not actively trying to lose out there in the games the players are out there on the court but the front office definitely isn’t maximizing you know potential sort of wins I don’t think for this season but gry dick in

This sort of new time timeline for the Toronto Raptors especially given his hustle especially what he’s doing out there is earning minutes out there on the court and I’m really happy with the production he’s been able to provide for this team and tonight hit his shots he

Hit a few shots in this one which is great to see I mean Grady dick in this one where’s the stats 205 minutes five of 12 from the field three of five from the three-point line had 15 points three assists five rebounds and again that’s huge a couple turnovers again which

Never mistakes 30 personal fouls he gets dinged with a lot of stupid stuff but that’s just how it goes as a younger player that’s still sort of uh you know building out his frame building out his strength he’s 20 years old he’s a guy that’s going to be good and I think I’m

Mistakenly misspoke and said he’s the youngest guy in the draft I didn’t mean that I meant he’s one of the younger players in this year’s NBA draft so I mean I’m pumped to see his development I’m pumped that he’s actually getting some run the strength and conditioning

Workout he had with the 905 is huge and that has been really encouraged that through this season we’re already seeing his development and one guy that came in sort of mid December again a l key sort of pickup another feel like it’s steel I’ve already discussed him as a

Potential steal for the Raptors but jont Porter especially early in this game came off the bench and 12 points seven boards three assists two steals hit three of four from behind the three-point line and he’s a floor spacer he’s a big man and just does the right

Things out there on the basketball court and the Raptors you know in the past have really prioritized kind of the super athletes that come in pretty raw and then just need to be sort of you know the precious Chua archetype right where their the raw potential is

Definitely there you see it you see the vision but obviously basketball IQ just gets a little bit flustered out there makes some poor decisions it’s kind of how it uh it gets rough out there from a watching standpoint you know as a fan the Raptors now with sort of at least

Tonight’s game with wara with jonte Porter Grady dick I think even though he makes some mistakes I think he generally makes some pretty good decisions and hustles the heck out of the basketball we have some high IQ basketball players even though they’re young some rookie mistakes kind of come but jonte Porter

Fits that sort of archetype and I kind of like that approach of M Jerry because that’s something that’s really hard to develop but something really it can be again Pascal cakam was a bit Raw coming into the the league you know during his rookie season I remember purle used to

Get a lot of sort of touch fouls went during his rookie year for the Toronto Raptors and it was a big thing you know the fouls that he was sort of getting and then part of it was the ref so part of him was just you know building up his

Basketball IQ coming into the league so it’s something that can be developed but I’m happy that we’re sort of prioritizing players with those sort of mindsets those sort of skill sets so Off the Bench night you know are we going to expect this night in night out for a

Young team from guys that are still sort of growing into their sort of skill sets in the NBA no we can’t rely on sort of a Grady dick Jordan War jonte Porter to be Top Dogs On Any Given night but I thought they did a really good job in

This one coming off the bench and really have me encouraged about their potential development I like the rotations that darkar yovic ran in this one letting those guys sort of uh perform but in the starting unit Scotty Barnes again 8 of 14 really solid game 24 points 8 assists

Four rebounds didn’t shoot A3 snay I liked how he attack in the rim at the end of this game and again Scotty Barnes has been awesome this season I don’t have to sort of Rave about the player at Scotty Barnes is we’ve handed him the

Keys to this team and he’s done a solid job you know growing into that role but closing games and this is where the reps are going to have to come from Scotty barns cuz particularly in the fourth quarter I thought there were a lot of decisions that were made and he had

Eight assists in this game which is good but Scotty Barn sort of goes into a mode where he’s like okay I can get a bucket but now without OG and anobi there spacing the floor he’s one of the most respected 3 andd players in the NBA

Pascal cakam who’s been an all NBA guy that draws probably the most gravity on this team before he was traded you know away from the Toronto Raptors the defense is more focused on Scotty Barnes here now at this point the Hawks they were throwing some doubles at Scotty and

Frankly he missed a few Cutters Bruce Brown again a guy that probably won’t be on the troller Raptors for long but as an elite cutter I thought War also made some really gorgeous sort of back Cuts you know curl Cuts around that that sort of courton Scotty Barn just kind of

Missed him and we know Scotty Burn’s an elite passer but now with the defense sort of really locked in focused in on him you know throwing one two different Defenders you know help side sort of looking for Scotty more so than they were with Pascal and even RJ and quickly

Being out here now at this point right he’s got to be able to sort of especially with his height again not not trying to compare him you know Young Scotty bars that’s just for the first time been handed to team first time really dealing with all this stuff but a

Guy like LeBron James cuz he’s the you know Premier point forward that you’d sort of look to you’d love to see Scotty Barnes potentially develop into at least you know sort of gain the skill sets of LeBron maybe not to get to completely his level obviously it’ be a dream if

That’s the case but LeBron he can take those sort of Defenders not get flustered and be able to sort of just pass over the top make some really good decisions and Scotty you know especially now that Pascal and them have been gone there’s been a few turnovers and there’s

Been a few missp pass I thought tonight the turnovers got a lot better but he just missed a few just open Cutters that could have been easy buckets and again in a game it’s a one-point game you lose it not blaming Scotty Barnes whatsoever for this loss but again patience and

Development that’s what this season’s all about and games like this I enjoy watching games like this where it’s competitive where the team is sort of rolling whether we win or lose it is what it is but I was encouraged there’s clearly some things the Raptors can grow

On but uh you know we unfortunately took the L Trey young did his thing out there tonight I mean 30 points 12 assists people love to trash on Trey young because he’s smaller he’s defense actually look pretty solid in this game I I was impressed by him but the Raptors

Again that solid vet doing his thing out there Bruce Brown I thought the box score is not going to back this up but I thought Bruce Brown actually played pretty solid in this game from the eye test just did the right things out there made some good Cuts got some rebounds in

This one again not hurting his trade value being out there on the court shuder was pretty good in this one brought the pace did his thing got filed out but again it’s tough to guard Trey young uh Gary Tren J knocked down his threes which is a great thing to see but

Again does really uh Gary Tren Jr has sort of devolved from the player that he was developing into improving the defense improving all this type of stuff off the dribble finishing and things that we heard him talk about as uh areas of his game he want develop he’s a very

One-dimensional player and hopefully can nett us something if he ends up getting traded right now at this point but the three-point spacing is nice hit some Timely shots and then bricked one late which was a a tough hurting blow at the end of this game but I know a lot of

Torona raptors fans are going to be calling for this team to sort of tank I’m run long here I’m surprised but I’m happy with uh this sort of performance you know looking at the sort of tank of on here now at this point we got to catch Portland we got to catch Portland

If we are tanking we got to lose some games here now at this point we got to lose them in a hurry because frankly it’s uh I was running the Sim Lottery and there’s a lot of scenarios where we fall out of that top six and lose our

Pick to the San Antonio Spurs so you know in order for me to have my mental health safe during that NBA draft lottery we got to ideally we catch Charlotte you know get to the bottom four we’re not going to catch the Spurs we’re not going to catch uh wash these
