League sources say that there has been little-to-no trade dialogue in recent days between the Hawks and the Lakers when it comes to former All-Star Dejounte Murray.
Trade talks tend to be fluid this time of year and can be easily sparked up again, but one source briefed on the talks termed the idea of Murray landing with the Lakers before the deadline, as of this Sunday, as “unrealistic.”
Among the factors for that: D’Angelo Russell’s strong play this month.
Since being restored to the starting lineup for the past eight games, Russell has averaged 27.5 points and 6.4 assists per game while shooting 52.3% percent from the field and 54.2% from the 3-point line.
In previous talks between the teams, Atlanta had been resistant to the inclusion of Russell unless a third team could be found to take on his contract, with the 27-year-old possessing an $18.6 million player option for next season.
The Lakers were initially said to be willing to package Russell with a first-round pick in 2029 and a first-round pick swap in exchange for Murray — with Austin Reaves completely off limits. That pursuit appears to have been dialed back some with Russell playing so well.
The 2029 first-round pick is currently the Lakers’ only available future first to trade, but holding off on their next big trade until draft night in June (or thereafter) would give them access to three future firsts to augment trade packages.

We will see I just pray dlo don’t go back to being horrible again
Get me DFS.
Move on the margins, build around the team that made the WCF. Go get a bruising big!
Lol yes let’s ignore career numbers in favor of a 7 game sample size
Problem has been finding a third team.
From “inevitable” to “awaiting atlantas decision” to “unrealistic” in 3-4 days. Just for those tracking and want to know how much stock to put into any of these speculations.
These folks don’t know and until we hear the deal is done or dead, I’ll just assume it’s all negotiation tactics.
We’re just going to get the opposite report on alternating days until the trade deadline passes.
I can live with this tbh, as I do love DLo. And Ham needs to be fired before any winning can be done (this summer, I hope). But we better make the playoffs with AD and Bron playing like this.
Saving the first round pick for this summer is the correct move.
Personally I’d overpay and bring AC back and just work on the margins w/ rui, gabe, etc
Seasons over if that’s the case
At least try to get Schroeder back.

As expected. Whenever there is so much smoke it rarely happens.
I think if Atlanta comes back and says “We’ll do Murray for D’lo, JHS, and the 29 unprotected FRP” Lakers FO still does it but we definitely have more leverage than we did 2 weeks ago. Lakers can realistically just keep D’lo and deal with the contract negotiations this summer
Ah negotiation tactics half these mofos jus speculating at this point honestly if DLO not moved by the deadline i’ll be utterly shocked
If they are giving Ham the whole season, may as well let DLo ride until summer too – if it doesnt work, then use the 3 firsts to go after a real difference maker…Murray isnt that.
Austin completely off limits 🤡
They should be going after Caruso to pair with our existing backcourt. 2029 + pick swap and all the seconds available. Would rather have a combination of D’lo/Caruso/Reaves than just Murray and whoever is left
They should just change course and try to get Caruso
I won’t say it’s unrealistic
Hawks just have to throw in 1-2 FRPs and I’m sure it’s a done deal.
Even if they did make trade, it feels like it would be such a gut punch to the team
Don’t trade DLO fire Ham. We’ve been over this
I really doubt Atlanta had a better offer…the lakers are putting the pressure on by now.
This guy is a locker room cancer though
We all knew that removing Dlo from the starting line up was a bad move, and it was insane that we even had trade talks for Murray anyways.
If it’s a swap sure whatever even though I prefer to keep Dlo, but to package our 1st round pick? That’s insane.
Nobody wants this deal, except for the front office and maybe Pelinka feels like he has to make a move since Jeannie doesn’t want Ham fired but it’s clear that’s the answer. This man can’t coach
But this is just my observation as a casual. For me it’s no coincidence we start doing better when we went back to what was successful
Los Angeles Trail Blazers resigning themselves to their fate.
About another year after this of mediocrity before Lebron leaves, and back to the basement with Detroit
Good. We need to get a better coach and a back up big for AD.
Fuck it. Keep Dlo. Gladly keep him and root for his redemption arc
Darvin for murray straight up
Sorry, I want to believe this is the new DLo, but I don’t buy it. I want them to make this trade ASAP.
Good. Guys if Murray was so good, why aren’t other teams making offers? Hopefully we can get another piece for the corpse of Gabe Vincent and someone else.
If Dlo is off the table, why aren’t Rui and JHS on the table? If the salary doesn’t matter and Dlo was seen as a negative asset which needed to go to a third team anyway, why would the players in the trade even matter to Atlanta?
