“I Thought In The Third Quarter We Did A Really Good Job.” | Chris Finch Postgame Sound | 01.20.24

Chris did this one come down to the turnovers oh yeah for sure no doubt um you know for defensively for the most part we did a good job I thought we played real well other than a lot of free throws um but you know you know you’re not

Beating good teams with 21 turnovers and particularly the way we turn it over so and your bench um was significant in this game and how do you look at that as in comparison I guess to your starters I mean you know the bench did a

Good job um for sure maybe I could have mixed them in there at the end um but uh you know those those guys have been great making tough shots we got some good looks down the stretch we didn’t make uh got to the free throw line we

Didn’t make you know some things like that so um you that that really wasn’t an issue it was more the the turnovers and I thought we turned down some shots like catch and shoot shots that we had to take and then we we kind of played

Into the crowd did a good job in the third we only turned it over once then seven turnovers in the fourth so what you think those turnovers in the fourth were largely a product of uh you know just again I just I thought in the third quarter we did a

Really good job of just getting off it early and um kind of exploiting their help uh probably one dribble too many um holding the ball a little bit too late probably getting into our offense a little bit too slowly at times I think a combination of that so defense L what

Shifted from the first eight minutes of the game from there on out where they seemed like they got anything they wanted to start and then much more difficult for I mean think um you know I I thought defensively it was you know it was it wasn’t that bad at the start the

Game um we had a lot of things going on that we’re trying to do um with these guys it’s always a tricky one and I think just kind of getting comfortable with that was probably one thing but really was our offense again we couldn’t make a shot and we had some turnovers

And you know that kind of let them play kind of play free and easy so what’s the defensive shift you’re alluding to there like kind of having goar guard Giddy and that you match up them different I you know when you do when you do those

Things it’s it’s it’s a it’s an Ever evolving thing because as soon as they make a sub everything has to change and then your coverages change relative to that um so uh yeah does Nas open up another kind of variable for you against maybe these smaller faster sort of teams obviously

Or what did he do tonight to kind of have the game that he had yeah I I mean it was super shot ready um you know uh did a really good job there you know he had a bunch of turnovers in the first half but in the second half we played

Clean um you know took advantage of some some mismatches just creates movement for us really you know just uh good next action slipping Distortion all that stuff yeah mclin scored uh eight points tonight and also was a plus seven in his minutes how did you feel about his

Performance tonight yeah it was really good in first shift in the second in the second shift he was out there you know we got caught with some lineups that really struggled to score and um I took the bet that 8 minutes I was going to go

Back with our guys and you know I failed uh didn’t make it didn’t make it work so it was on me was not on SDA one of the things you were thinking about you know during that last five minutes or eight minutes in terms of getting people back in no

In the last five minutes yeah yeah putting the KE back in yeah no so and um are teams starting to hunt cat some on on switches for defense I don’t think they’re starting to I think the you know teams have been doing it all season long

Um you know uh they put him in action they you know they put him in uh pick and roll you know depending on what coverage we’re in um so yeah it’s been something we’ve been dealing with all all season long so U Mike was one for 11

Tonight um just product of missing shots what made it difficult for him to to get going for you tonight well I thought he missed a lot of really good ones I mean he rarely takes bad ones um just had one of those nights you know he hasn’t had

One of those all all season maybe not since he’s been here so um you know it happens brush it off and on to the next game so Rudy one for six uh hom grin seemed to do a a decent job making it difficult for him what what was that

Matchup like from your Vantage Point um yeah I mean uh got he got him at The Rim a couple times um it was fine I mean I thought uh you know thought Rudy was really good you know all over Rudy played a Rudy game we talked about this before but how

Important is naz’s just general ability to defend every position Ben for being able to play two big lineups like even when they Shay switched on to him like Nas didn’t really seem to give much up yeah I mean it’s extremely important he’s he’s been um you know one of the things he’s

Really worked on is sitting down and being able to guard and you know he’s very quick athletic his anticipation skills are are better um than they’ve ever been um you know his footwork is better do he become even more important against teams like this that tend to play smaller

Um I guess I mean he’s pretty important to us no matter what you know so uh but he does give us some like defensive flexibility out there so that’s that’s really good so uh hello if you allow me I’d like to take a step back I come from France so I

Came to see Rudy yeah I wanted to ask you maybe with a little bit of time now what’s working what has been working this season that maybe was not or not as efficiently last season for him and for you guys thank you uh you know I think

Rudy first and foremost I think he came into the season with a renewed sense of energy um and purpose and was very comfortable with being here and with what we were doing um you know a lot of his increas in performances down to him and the great season he’s had and a

Great off season he had and I think he feels healthy last year I think he felt a little banged up um I think what’s working for him is just you know we’re better defensively everywhere which makes it his job a little bit easier he doesn’t have to try to plug every single

Hole um starts in transition um you know and then generally and uh ball contain has been good you know so it’s and and he’s been very active in executing a lot of different things um that maybe we didn’t ask them to do last year so thanks guys

  1. now i worry ANTMAN is passing too much ? a little passive and cant find his rhythm. only NAZ and MCdaniels played better.. but somehow its a close game.. just have to finish better next time and lesser TO. tell ANT Dort seemed to be doing well on him must make an adjustment. 🙂

  2. Our offense is rated 20th but it’s really the turnovers that are tanking it. Our defense is elite. They mostly scored in transition. I’d rather Ant and KAT chuck shots instead of giving up live ball turnovers.

  3.
