Three Targets for the Orlando Magic at the Trade Deadline
Magic fans it is that time of the year again to talk NBA trades mark your calendars February 8th at 3:00 p.m. Eastern is the NBA trade deadline and the magic they have a big decision to make when it comes to this front office and the roster construction around
They’re two budding stars in Palo banero and fron Vagner the magic have a record of 24 and 22 this is a team vying for not only a playin spot but potentially a playoff birth in this year’s NBA postseason and the magic need to go out
There and try to make a move to not only make this team better right now but for the future moving forward now like a lot of magic fans I’m not asking for the magic to sell the farm to sell the house and to go out there and acquire a
Superstar caliber player I’m asking for a good veteran role player that can come in and help this team immediately and also help provide some stability at the guard position and potentially some shooting an area where the magic continuously find themselves struggling in but Magic magic fans I’ve got three
Prospects that I want to talk about today with you guys that I want the magic to potentially trade for at this year’s deadline it’s going to come with Dennis Schroeder Malcolm Brogden and an fry Simons three guys that I think could come in and make an impact on this team
Right now and moving forward with this Orlando Magic core but magic fans let’s stop wasting time let’s actually go ahead and talk about these three players at the Deadline now first and foremost let’s go ahead and talk about Dennis Schroeder of the Toronto Raptors now Dennis schroer sitting at 30 years of age he’s in the first year of a 2-year $25 million contract Dennis schroer in 2023 24 is currently averaging 143 and six on 45 35
85 splits Dennis schroer has bounced around the league from obviously Atlanta his time with the Lakers the Celtics briefly I believe Oklahoma City now he’s with Toronto he is a seasoned vent he has been on a handful of teams but he has consistently been a very good role
Player everywhere he has gone especially when he’s had a higher usage especially with his time in Oklahoma City but here’s the reason why I really want a guy like Dennis schroer here in Orlando do I not only think he can provide some stability at the point guard position
With his shooting with his ability to get downhill and with his ability to playmake for others it is his chemistry and his familiarity that he has with fron Vagner and mo Vagner and for you guys that don’t know Dennis schroer is German he has played a longside mo
Vagner and fron Vagner in the FBA tournament and they just won the summer World Cup at FBA this past summer representing Germany Dennis rer has that kind of chemistry and familiarity with Mo and fron and I think that’s something that you could automatically seamlessly have in Orlando and when Toronto came to
Orlando for the inseason tournament I actually got to witness firsthand Dennis schroer hanging out with fron and mo a lot during pregame warm-ups you get to see the kind of chemistry that they have together and I think that’s something right there that you cannot put a price
On that’s something in a move that I would really like a lot now when we talk about a trade package actually going for Toronto we know Toronto has been sellers getting rid of OG anobi getting rid of Pascal seaka now maybe it’s time to get rid of a 30-year-old point guard in
Dennis schroer even though he’s on the first year of his contract they’re going to try to get younger and try to get better at that position the magic are going to be trading away Marquel folz and a 2025 second round pick via Boston or via Memphis in that trade for Dennis
Schroeder and the likelihood would be that Toronto would be wanting to give marel fult an extension they can get him at a team-friendly budget and they can get younger at that position that’s just the rationale with the thinking get Denis schroer to Orlando now let’s talk about another point guard that the magic
Can go out there and acquire a popular name circling around the Orlando Magic community and that’s going to come with Portland Trailblazers guard Malcolm Brogden now Malcolm Brogden former Rookie of the Year back in 201617 is currently 31 years of age he’s on the second year of a $45 million
Contract and Malcolm brogon everywhere he’s gone from Milwaukee to Indiana where he’s put up really good numbers his One loan stint in Boston last season coming off the bench being a great role player for that team and now with this time in Portland Portland’s going to be
Looking to sell and probably move on from a guy like Malcolm Brogden at 31 years of age when Portland is a rebuilding team with Chanty bips in that organization Malcolm Brogden is a guy who can come in and play defense as a three and D type of guard a guy who’s
Going to make a high impact no matter where he is at on the floor he’s a good three-point shooter I believe he’s a carea 39% shooter from deep and he’s put together quietly a very good season with the Portland Trailblazers even though they’ve been at the bottom of the Western Conference
Malcolm brogon this season is averaging 155 and3 on 43 41 83 splits and this is something that we’ve became very accustomed to when it comes to a guy like Malcolm Brogden a season vet a guy who knows his role knows how to play it
At a very high level and when you take a look at his shot chart take a look at him at that three-point right wing he’s an incredible shooter from that Spa on the floor take a look at him at the left elbow this is a guy that can get to the
Rim he can finish he can score on all three levels and he can space the floor for a guy like fron Vagner for a guy like Palo banko and he can provide some stability at that point guard position as a natural passer as a natural guy who
Can facilitate and run an offense I think Malcolm Brockton would be a very nice under the radar pickup let’s talk about trade details when it comes to a guy like Malcolm brogen I think you’re going to have to give up at least two players and I’m going to be giving up
Two expiring contracts with Gary Harris and chumo KK as well as a 2025 second round pick via Boston or Memphis and a 2027 second round pick via Boston so you’re giving up two seconds and two role players who you know Gary Harris has obviously been in and out of the
Lineup chuma eki he’s gotten his minutes as of lately but you’re giving up two expiring contracts 2 seconds let’s get Malcolm brog into Orlando Magic fans let’s talk about one more player to acquire at this year’s deadline and we are obviously shooting for the stars with this one someone that magic fans
Are extremely familiar with and would love to have back here in Orlando he played basketball at IMG Academy in Bradington Florida he played basketball and went to high school here in Orange County at Edgewater High School 24 years of age former 24th overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft Anthony Simons now
Anthony Simons at 24 years of age is in the second year of a 4-year $100 million contract and anth Fry Simons is a very good young player and then some more this is a young asset that you talk about that fits the time line in the
Mold of the Orlando Magic it fits the needs of the Orlando Magic having a guy that can facilitate a guy that can score on all three levels at an extremely high clip he can alleviate a lot of ball pressure off of B Carroll off of fron
Vagner and he can help run an offense this is a seasoned guard who is only going to continue to get better and this is an ascending product this would be a terrific fit in Orlando now a fry Simons is putting together a career-high season in terms of scoring he’s currently
Averaging this season 23 5 and3 on 4339 90 splits let me say that again 43% from the field 39% from deep and 90% from the charity stripe and for Simons is exactly what this Orlando Magic team needs while anony Simons might not be the most groundbreaking trade in the NBA that
Would be a big time move for this Orlando Magic team to go out there and acquire a guard like him and someone that can really help facilitate run this offense and space the floor and like I said I think Anthony Simons would just be a terrific fit here in Orlando and
You bring the hometown kid back but let’s go ahead and actually talk about trade details for an anron Simons and of course I’m speculating at the end of the day but what I’m really basing this tradeoff of is what I saw from Toronto and the New York Knicks when it came to
The ogn and Obi trade ogn and Obi was a sought out product a very good young player who is only going to continue to ascend and the Knicks gave up RJ Barrett a starting caliber guard a young guard who you know is sporadic but nonetheless
He was just a lottery pick a couple of seasons ago Emanuel quickley one of the best young combo scoring guards off the bench in the association and they gave up a 2024 second round pick to get ogn and Obi and even though the Toronto Raptors were sellers Portland might not
Be sellers at the deadline when it comes to a young product like him but maybe at the right price the magic have enough to incentivize the Portland Trailblazers now let’s talk about it Anthony Simons to Orlando Portland will be receiving Marquel folz colle Anthony a 2025 first
Round pick via Denver which is top five protected and a 2027 first round pick from Orlando unprotected and I think that this is going to be a groundbreaking trade for this Orlando Magic team it might not Shock the entire NBA world but over time this would prove
To be a great deal for this magic team he fits the timeline you give up Cole Anthony a guy who obviously is a team fa so it breaks everyone’s heart but he can provide that combo scoring guard role for the Portland Trailblazers you give up Marquel folz maybe they want to
Extend him to a Team friendly deal to put around Shaden sharp and Scoot Henderson and then you also give up two future first round picks that are probably going to be you know midlevel picks somewhere between probably 15 20 25 somewhere in those numbers when it
Comes to the Denver pick and the magic pick I think that this is a realistic trade do I think Portland goes out there and is probably going to be trying to sell Anthony Simons at the deadline probably not but if the magic want to go
Out there and try to make a big time move that could really help this team right now and for the future go out there and acquire the hometown kid bring an fry Simons back to Orlando now magic fans let us know your guys’ thoughts in the comments down below what do you make

Why give up a 2027 first round pick in the Simons deal, instead of next years pick FRP? We already have two young guys who we just drafted that cant get on the floor. 2024 seems like a good time not to have a FRP imo lol
Simons and Brodgon For Fultz Gary Cole Chuma and 2 1st
Can we make the simmons deal without cole (hypothetically of course) Maybe Markelle, Gary (2) first (2) seconds. We have 8 seconds between 2025-2028.
Thanks for the magic trade content. Hard to find out there.
I'm all in on Simons and Brogdon as targets but Schröder?!?! Why is his name even in this conversation? He's a selfish 30 Y.O. ball-dominant, inconsistent journeyman with weak D and would add NOTHING but a bad attitude to our team. Toronto fans are DESPERATE to get rid of him. HARD PASS!!!
