Yeah, they really needed to win this one. They’re close to sinking below .500 and had this one in the bag. San Antonio is a must win to salvage the trip.
Starting JI and then limiting his minutes to *8* when he was destroying is just a poor choice. Bring him back or just don’t play him. And as someone else, wtf are you waiting for? There’s been 4-5 games where with just another 4-5 min stretch from him – we probably win.
Derrick Lively is a dunk merchant. Luka makes him look good. Just sets him up for easy looks all game.
Also, needed Isaac out there, and it’s a win. Too bad our coaching staff is soft and sits players that will never be healthy. Might as well play them until the wheels fall off.
The refs didn’t lose us this game, but I mean at what point can we say something? Every fucking game we have to put with obvious and clear fouls just not being called for us, but other teams better known players can just throw their arms up and get a whistle every time. It’s become so god damn infuriating to watch this every single game. I just want a game called the same way on both sides for 4 quarters. How has that become impossible?
This team needs to learn to play through a zone defence and mo Wagner ball watches too hard on defence so so bad on defence

Can someone tell Cole that he’s allowed to use his arms to contest a shot? He always does that stupid body check thing and then puts his hands behind his back like he’s not allowed to use them. What the fuck is that shit? He didn’t even contest Josh Green on that critical layup. His defense is pathetic. How has he not gotten any better at this point? I’m done with Cole man. He sucks.
More than one thing can be true. Yeah our third quarter was bad but the refs just capitulated to Luka complaining all night like they did Booker yesterday. We got roughed up several times and got no calls. AB, Paolo, Wendell…it was absurd. Same shit in the Lakers/Golden State the other night.
One aspect of our defense I can’t quite figure out is that we like to pressure ballhandlers on the perimeter, and then practically just matador our way off to the side and let them go. That makes some sense when you have Embiid or Gobert lurking back there, but not when it’s WCJ or Mo. Why funnel guys into the paint? And why does the help man almost never slide over and cut off a drive? Way too many easy layups coming out of half-court sets. It’s maddening.
I have other questions about our bad transition D, but that’s for another post.

Great fight from our guys. The lack of a floor general hurt us especially in the 3rd, but well, ab gave us great minutes and cole played a really good game. Franz trying to fill this hole hurts his scoring to much I think.
Really nice improvement on ball distribution in the first half, in the second we became too static and didn’t push the ball in transition.
Good lessons, hope these translate.

Isaac hit the floor a few times in the 2nd and only played two minutes in the second. While I don’t think he was “injured”, there was probably enough there to make them not want to put him back in.
It’s an issue with Isaac that he’s so important to us yet so liable to get injured.

Close loss are always tough. Mavericks are tough but we need to stop losing to easy teams. I heard the schedule is going easier.
