Might just be recency bias or a faulty memory on my part, but I’d consider Dallas and OKC more rivals than Houston since it feels like we’ve had more match ups against them in the playoffs at least since Duncan era. Lakers for sure are rivals tho.

Surprised Dallas isn’t #1. I can see Lakers or Suns for secondary rivals.

  3. Ya Houston ain’t it. While Timmy was playing, it was Dirk and Dallas

  4. Idk about the spurs rivals being LA and Houston but washington choosing themselves is hilarious and accurate.

When we had prime Kawhi ,Houston was definitely a playoff rival. Some great series against them. Those were the last playoff wins we had so makes sense. No true rivals right now until we start making the playoffs.

There’s no chance that the primary rival isn’t Dallas and the secondary isn’t LAL. What the fuck am I looking at lol?

  7. I was expecting the Suns having multiple arrows pointed all over the map

Need to double check, but last I checked the Spurs have a historical winning record vs every team. Kinda surprised by the lack of hate.

    Especially you Phoenix & Dallas.

  9. Listen regardless of the results we can all agree , fuck the Phoenix Suns.

    What was the methodology here?

Would have been interesting to ask 2 questions:

    – what is your rival right now

    – what is the rivalry you consider to be the most significant in the history of your franchise

Would have acknowledged recency bias while helping see the deep storylines.

I like that the whole eastern conference has a beef with Boston though, even, like, Washington (???)

It’s wild, Texas has 3 teams, and they just mildly hate each other if it’s football there will be gang war each month

  12. I don’t feel like there is a lot of *actual* rivalries left in today’s NBA.

    Basically nobody hates us.

Which is consistent, since the Spurs is often regarded as, one of the most respectable/respected/“classiest” organization.

We’re a small market franchise, who has an historically brilliant record, so an underdog who wins is often the hero of the story, especially when you’re not a total dick about winning.

Our FO and coach seem to maintain great relationships with the other teams and the NBA which helps not spill oil on media drama between fans/players when there is some.

Even comments from Adam Silver about the “Pop mic” moment. Pop is so respected in this league that he gets away with almost anything, almost untouchable, but he earned it.

Also add that we’re not a threat at the moment.

Most franchises who have beefs with us have more hate for other teams.

I’m very happy with all that.

    It makes sense:
We’re a small market franchise, who has an historically brilliant record, so an underdog who wins is often the hero of the story, and an inspiration to follow, especially when you’re not a total dick about winning.

Our FO and coach seem to maintain great relationships with the other organizations and the NBA which helps a lot in when it comes to not spilling more oil on petty media drama between fans/players when there is some.

Even comments from Adam Silver about the “Pop mic” moment is a good example:
To them it was a non event, they probably even liked it.
Pop is so respected in this league that he gets away with almost anything, he’s almost untouchable at this point, but he kinda earned it given everything he gave to this league.

Also add that we’re not a threat at the moment.
Most franchises who have beefs with us have more hate for other teams.

I’m very happy with all that, although it might change when we start winning again.
