Miami Heat: Suns leave Heat searching after 7th straight loss

Myg on the floor ride for my dogs where here the thing you can check the score Hustle Hard couple scars we bubble frogs just like bu said you in trouble y the FL got it all B y’all SE the block stop with one hand and P we trust it’s power

Have the guts we here to bring the heat y’all can hang it up welcome to five on the floor a daily Insider show on the Miami Heat and the NBA featuring Ethan scholet Greg sander and Alex Toledo plus others from the five reason Sports Network welcome back to the latest

Edition postgame edition of five on the floor I’m your host Greg sander today’s tonight’s floor plan with me no Ethan no Alex no Brady but I do have the coach Sean Rochester and we do have eternal Bast uh who you can normally find on playback but we’re happy to have him on

The show tonight we are going to dive into another sigh Miami heat loss seven straight the most in Eric spoler coaching tenure history uh we’re going to get into all that because they did lose to the Phoenix Suns 118 105 we’re g to dive into what went wrong before we do want

To tell you about a couple things one of them is off the floor that’s our new Discord server you got to go there this is where heat chats are happening 247 you can talk to all of the most educated informed Heat fans that have opinions without insults so it’s not like your

Other social media apps where you’re having to go back and forth and get into personal attacks it’s super dope in the way that it’s a community you can have all these different channels to talk music you can talk heat you can talk trades you can talk other NBA games

Other sports fantasy gambling you got to check out off the floor it’s $299 if you sign up on desktop 3.99 from your Apple device it is the best most uh robust way to keep up with and interact with your favorite team uh and all of their fans so check out off the

Floor y’all this was just Dreadful we’ve gotten to a point now where they’ve surrendered 143 125 and8 in three consecutive games they they’ve lost seven straight everything is sputtering um we’re at a point where they almost look like they can’t do anything right because even when they’re doing things

Right they’re down by double digits I don’t know how you fix that um I don’t know how people can with a straight face say that one additional trade fixes that that some lineup change fixes that that some coaching maneuver fix is that what’s happening right now to the Miami he transcends all that

Other [ __ ] throw all that crap out of here this is just a team that’s got that stank on it and when you got that stank on you it’s like when you get hit by a skunk you have to go through very strategic ways to get rid of that smell

And they’re gonna have to figure out those ways and I don’t know what those ways are initial reactions I’m going to go to the coach first Sean Rochester initial reactions from this game I know you always are um keen on keeping up with the shop profile maybe we’ll hit him up

With that later but just initial reactions on what is just another gut punch of a Miami heat loss on their home floor to the Phoenix Suns yeah I’ve never been hit by a skunk or any of that but uh you know I think we all sit in this stink right now you

Know as collective uh Heat fans and you know Greg and I we were talking before we started and and unfortunately for us we’re we’re older right and uh we’ we’ve seen a lot of heat teams and I think because we are older we’re we’re generally more of a even keia there’s

Not really a too high or too low even though we’re passionate fans and this is one of those times where you’re like it’s it’s one of the lowest points and it’s not to say that for you know to draw attention to you know get clicks it’s it’s it’s B we’re bottoming out

Hopefully we’re botting him out and it’s not getting worse because right now like you said these last few games the defense is a problem the offense is a problem the Personnel is a problem the rotations like there’s not one thing you can point to there’s not one player

There’s not one you know factor it’s really everything and you know you look at tonight I think early on there was a lot of problems with like Just Energy like in the fourth quarter in the second half I thought they brought energy I really thought Josh Richardson sparked

That in a way you know he wasn’t perfect but he was energetic um but just not good enough I mean we just can’t score 120 points that’s not who we are and in the previous games way above that just to reference the shot profile really quick and then we we’ll you know spin

The ball around this is the number one and number two teams in terms of mid-range attempts and tonight it played into that both of us shot almost 40% of our shots from mid-range they made 52% of those shots we made 29% of their shots sh that’s the game right there I

Mean we’re not getting Rim attempts we’re not making mid-range we made threes out of recent clip but not enough it’s just again it’s it’s kind of this the new theme it’s not enough what a sobering statistic Eternal um what the hell do you think about this because

You’re the as we call you Eternal Bass the eternal optimist as well at times um you try to find the best in certain scenarios you try to find the good in bad scenarios and you haven’t ever stated all this this is my observations and perceptions of you um

But this is a this is a a slide what are your thoughts on what you’ve seen from the team because I haven’t heard from you in a while so one welcome to the program good to see you good to hear your voice uh but what the what the hell

Do you think they can do differently and what did you see tonight did you see anything tonight because I thought like there were moments where Scary Terry looked okay like so like we could pluck stuff but ultimately what are we really doing there that’s like you know like

Death by a thousand paper cuts they’re not good enough they’re losing and I’m just interested from your perspective someone who’s usually optimistic where do you land in your head space with this team right now they’re they’re not enough right and I think when we step back and look at the forest instead of

The tree that’s in front of us you can kind of see the the full pitcher right like they have guys that will have moments throughout the game where they look good whereas you know I think the previous Seasons we would have guys that would look good like throughout games

Like you know throughout a stretch during the season where like oh okay we didn’t get this from this guy but we got this from these guys you know that carried you if you think about like the 2122 season when they were the first seed and they had the next man up

Mentality that really saved them that really carried them through some stretches um throughout That season when they had guys like bam missing games when they had Jimmy missing games um and even at times when you had Tyler missing games they had they could depend on

Those guys to step up and kind of carry them last year you know they dealt with you know the shooting walles where you know they really couldn’t hit the right side of a barn but the defense at times were still there to kind of carry carry them through like the very

Horrific offense that they had um they were at times able to create offense off of turnovers all of those numbers Sean Greg have fallen this season where they’re not really creating turnovers like that so you’re not getting those easy opportunities on offense and so it’s like you’re really having to dig it

Out of the mud but not in the way that fits the heat culture heat mentality type of way just the way that you’re desperate as [ __ ] to try to get anything to work you’re right and I think tonight um just kind of encapsulates that right like they had Jimmy um really really on

The boards his effort was there you wanted to see a little bit more but you got something out of Jimmy like if you look at this game bam I think had two points going into the fourth Tyler had 11 I think going into the fourth but

Jimmy and Terry had 20 points plus going into the fourth quarter so it’s like you’re getting something so I’m not ready like I was texting Greg I’m not ready to say this [ __ ] is done like just throw away the season I do think and I

Know like not to be a part of like that transaction talk Sean but I do think you do have enough if you’re looking at it in a very honest objective way you do have enough where you can do something with this roster but if we’re just being

Honest man like you got to take some guys out and put some other guys in from other teams to kind of you know kind of balance this out like the league has gotten bigger and I don’t mean bigger and slower I mean the league has gotten

Bigger um with skill guys you look at Kevin Durant Sean this blew my mind they had they had a possession I think like in the first first or second quarter whichever one it was they threw haime and I think Tyler or someone else at KD but it was uh a crosscourt PA pass

From nurkic which was a hustle play KD catches the ball he doesn’t go down to his stomach or mid level he just catches the ball and shoots over a double team and like we’ve seen that the last three games with Boston yeah and so it’s just

Like too small right and it’s so the thing that saving them passing I know I’ve been taking a long time like Alex shout out to Alec but um the thing that saved them in the past was even if they were smaller they had active defensive guys that defense ain’t there anymore

And so like now you’re just small and the defense ain’t sharp and you’re getting cut to Pieces there seven games the defense has been up and down the offense has been up and down I heard SPO uh pre game talk about how they are just struggling to sustain anything and this

Was another game where they struggle to sustain anything so to use his words that’s where we’re at let’s go to the rocky Sports gamer of the night and now on five on the floor it’s time for the gamer of the night sponsored by Rock Esports Center the place to eat drink

And play all day host your next birthday party with them located at 15305 South Dixie Highway in paleto Bay they’ve got a 5500t state-ofthe-art Center equipped with all the high-end power play all day passes available for just 25 bucks but if you mention five reasons it’s just $20 so mentioned five

Reasons or five RSN you get to play all day for $20 and now the gamer of the night so lots of choices here and I initially was going to go with the dude off the bench ER Gordon who killed it he had five threes and 23 points Off the

Bench but you know what as I’m unpacking this KD is the gamer of the night 20 points eight rebounds seven assists one turnover efficient play and he just he’s KD so he’s the gamer of the night I don’t feel bad giving it to him this was

A rough game because you saw that the Miami Heat had um issues matching their bench frankly like I think some of what you saw from the Heats bench maybe was inflated in the second half and I do want to shout out that uh as we got through this game

The heat did win the fourth quarter 3118 so that that’ll help that fourth quarter differential for out throughout the year although it doesn’t help the win loss record but it just felt like the bench kept coming up short over and over again do you all anticipate with the continued

Losses Sean I’ll come back to you but I’d also I’m interested Eternal for your perspective on this too SPO kind of appeared to settle into this starting lineup when and Terry roier was acquired Brady called it that Haywood heith would start but now they’re continuing to lose usually a

Coach tries to shake things up do you see a starting lineup change um I do not unless we’re talking about the Haywood part but I don’t see what else you go to unless it’s Caleb and so I mean you could go haime there I mean haime is is obviously a little rusty

Coming back from injury so you give him a little bit of a pass with that I you know I know the Duncan Tyler narrative I just don’t see that as a real thing and I know the numbers show that like Greg I know I’ve always been resistant to it

And I was showing you some stuff today that like I started coming around to it a little bit and even if it do even if you don’t change the starting lineup can you change the rotation so that certain people are on the floor together more often there was a time early in the

First half in the first quarter I should say that bam went out Kevin came in with Duncan and you kind want to see that Duncan bam pairing now bam in the first quarter I don’t know what was going on with him man he looked like Lamar

Jackson in the playoffs like he was just throwing the ball all over the place sorry for the Ravens fans but like bam was on something he had like three turnovers in the first eight minutes like he did but we know that pairing Works we’ve seen it over time not that

Tyler and Bam can’t work but like you know I I think there’s some shuffling that can happen even if it doesn’t require a trade I just it’s just it’s so hard like to your point and and I’ll FL you know throw it over to Eternal like that fourth quarter comeback is a little

Bit fake right like it is what it is like it didn’t it didn’t matter but you know what does matter and I think I I guess I view this as a coach and I’m not SPO I’ve never coaching the NBA but like when you’re in that situation at least

Show me something that we can walk out of here with as a positive like you cut into that lead you won the fourth quarter because you played hard and you flew around and Josh had energy and Caleb had energy do that for 48 minutes do that for 45 minutes and we’ll

Probably have some better results but you can’t just get down by 20 and try to come back like we’re not filed for that it’s just not it’s not gonna happen that way Eternal you expecting a starting lineup change bolra and Sean thank you for dropping this quote in here and it

Is the longest losing streak of his career uh the level of this is a quote from SPO quote the level of urgency concern is extremely high uh I know that the locker room was closed a little bit longer than usual tonight um and I’m interested to hear what the postmortem

On that might be uh Eternal lineup change any change going into the next game like I I guess I’ll open Pandora’s Box like even if it’s the Tyler thing do you explore that because we are in such desperate times is there any other changes that you make before

We hit up the play of the night uh real quick I want to touch on something so you said KD was a gamer of the night I want to give you guys something Booker had 22 points eight rebounds seven assists Durant had 20 points eight rebounds seven assists Bill had 19

Points five rebounds seven assists and so not only did you get their big three or quarter three to show up but you had Eric Gordon Eubanks killed them um nerkish was a problem so I mean you had other guys for the team show up but to Sean’s Point um besides just the

Somewhat fake comeback from the heat I think think two things were true at the same time these are two teams that are really I’m sorry I almost messed up there these are two teams that are really bad in the fourth quarter and I think they just kind of like existed at

The same time um it was interesting that we didn’t see Terry come back in that fourth quarter while they were making that run he did bring Jimmy back and I think I probably would have substituted um Terry for Caleb because you were getting something valuable out of Josh

His defense did look good he created a couple turnovers um had a couple of deflections but I mean you’re at a point you know we’ve talked about this Greg Sean on playback on Twitter spaces you can’t put Tyler on the bench he can’t do it I’m sorry it even

If you even if you could and and have to you can’t do it for reasons that we probably you know what I’m saying don’t want to talk about right right now but yeah because it’s too long of another show but you’re right it it is you can’t do it um it’s it’s completely

Unrealistic um let’s uh let let’s pivot into the play of the night yeah and now it’s time for the insurance by lnet play of the night sponsored by insurance by.com at a Aggressive Insurance Agency you can reach out to our friend Lynette at 954 581 8800 that’s 954 581 8800 or in

Insurance.com that’s insurance.com with two NS and two T’s your best play for Auto Insurance homeowners insurance condo Insurance life insurance or retirement program reach out to Lynette at insurance by lin.com so the play of the night uh Eternal you mentioned how roier did not get back in

The game and um he had a productive evening I know he’s dead ass tired and Brian fona has done a great job of chronic chronicling just how many games um I think it was eight games in 13 nights that uh he had played and he is yet still as we’re recording this show

He has yet to practice as a member of the Miami Heat Eternal play of the night came from Terry roier on the Miami Heat side it was probably one of the few bright spots to give it to us oh man I mean just got got into his bag um

Against KD who isn’t a bad Defender you know very long lengthy Defender um put KD on Skates um and it it was just good to see you know Terry create that separation that got himself into a rhythm shot I and I think not only that

Being a play of the night I think his whole play throughout the whole game was a play of the night um you could just see him he got comfortable and I think that’s a testament to his skill level this year um Greg Sean for him to have

21 points going into the fourth quarter and not play the fourth so um and not only that but it’s playmaking too spola is uh letting off some fiery quotes here Sean why don’t you update the show because this will post as people are um not able to necessarily

Watch this live why don’t you give us some of these spoler quotes um all right so I’m taking these from five reasons Twitter feed um and obviously Ethan and those guys are at the game so some of these um Greg already hit on the part about the urgency and concern is extremely high

SPO said I don’t remember the last time we’ve taken a charge in a game they asked about why so much fourth quarter Zone he said I’m searching I’m searching um also talked about team not playing with any physicality effort and force and quote you tend to get rewarded

On offense when you play defense I’m not getting you know we’re not getting all the quotes right I’m I’m Pac mailing this as I see them on my Twitter feed and whatnot but of course every one of those references which side of the basketball defense defense

And I think Greg you would agree with this this this is kind of hiso like when things are bad he typically points to the defense and I think that would even go back to RI in 95 so and I know some people are going to be upset with that

Because like the offense is not good either right like we we can all easily say that and I think SPO knows that too but it’s like there’s so many holes to plug and I think that quote about him searching and searching you know people are going to

Get mad and SPO definitely deserves some blame this like this is a collective thing this is every player on the roster top to bottom but he’s trying different things and there’s just nothing working right now so you can’t have patience we got we understand the situation but it’s

Like there’s only so much the coach can do there’s a whole lot more the players can do and it’s you get another opportunity on Wednesday but right now it’s just this this ship has a lot of holes and it’s bringing in water really really really really really fast it is and another interesting

Statistic that uh I think is worth us uh shouting out in our final thoughts here I’m going to let Eternal give it to you but first let’s get into the Eric Rubenstein injury report and now it’s time for the official five on the floor injury report sponsored by our friend

Eric Rubenstein the personal injury attorney born and raised in Lauderdale Florida lives in Miami went to St Thomas he’s a South Florida guy and a huge Miami Heat fan but the important thing is he can help you get your money that you deserve when something happens to

You so reach out to our guy Eric Rubenstein again Eric Rubenstein decom or ask about me I got you on Instagram and now the injury report this was quick the injury reports clean they’re clean there’s nothing to talk about that’s why there’s no excuses Eternal you’ve sent me uh we have our

Chat here as we go you sent me a stat from um Simon Burling who’s does great work uh with all the stats on Twitter give us this Tyler hero in January field goal percentage statistic this is staggering yeah it’s not great um in 22 Tyler was 37.5 field goal percentage in 23 was

39.7 and this year is 39.2 another thing Greg Sean Tyler and Bam um Tyler respectively had he was 27% from the floor tonight bam was 33% from the floor with four turnovers um you just can’t have that out of your guys that are supposed to be

Your number two and three uh best player on on the the roster um you just that’s unacceptable and Bam has been having I mean you guys touch on him this past weekend but bam has been struggling the last few games Tyler for the month of January is shooting 39% I think he’s

Averaging 18 shots a game and averaging 18 points 18 points on 18 shots a game and what bam has been giving you you um those two guys that’s just unacceptable it’s not enough it it definitely isn’t Sean final thoughts before we close yeah real quick to add

On that hero quote uh here from five reasons Sports he said quote trying to sacrifice trying to be more of a catch and shoot guy to play my role in the offense uh when asked about shooting more threes tonight he had 12 threes out of his 18 shots made five of them which

Is a good percentage but just you know he’s adjusting again we’re trying new things it’s just not resulting in team success so to be determined on that to be determined the Miami he’ have a lot of work to do thank you to our sponsors thank you Eternal thank you Sean we

Appreciate everyone listening we will have you covered for all the future games and as Eric spoler also said tonight in the quotes we will get there let’s see

The Miami HEAT lost their 7th straight game, longest losing streak since 2008.

Greg Sylvander, Sean Rochester & Eternal Bast break down the loss.

  1. We have always been poorly constructed because Spo love's guards and would play 4 guards and Bam if he could, But we used to win off of pure hustle in grit, and thats too hard to Consistently do to overcome better talent

  2. The truth hurts. Herro to the bench. I do not know why every player gets better when Herro is not available. Its the Cam Thomas situation. The player look goid to the fans but the team play bad when he plays.
