[Dane Moore] My quick math says this puts the Wolves as much as $15M below the second apron.
Getting to $15M would be done by letting Conley, Anderson and McLaughlin leave in free agency and by waiving the non-guaranteed contracts of Milton, Brown Jr. and Minott.
They also have a 1st rd draft pick this year and would need to fill the roster, which further eats into that space.
The main takeaway remains: Can’t bring back Conley without going into the 2nd apron unless they make a sizable cost-cutting move elsewhere.
Another takeaway: This shrinks KAT and Ant’s contract extensions slightly (being as they are based on a percentage of the salary cap — 35% of cap for KAT, 25 or 30% for Ant dependent on whether or not he makes All-NBA)

This year is pretty much it will half these players. Is this our closest shot?

I’m puzzled. Salary cap goes up by only $5M. I thought they were about to sign a new TV deal and trying to smooth the cap to avoid spikes like in 2016 when Warriors got KD. ARod has to be willing to pay a lot of $$.

This should lower Ant and Kats expected salaries slightly next year and going forward. If there is a huge 10% leap the following season due to a new tv deal we may go from the 2nd apron next season to the first apron the following season or maybe even under the 1st apron. The owners are just going to need to pay that luxury tax 2nd apron next season.
