Elfrid Payton on David Fizdale: “We go in the film room. And this n**** put on like a Martin Luther King speech…assistant coach comes on talking about some ‘Thieves in the Temple’… what are we talking about my n**** we got a game tomorrow. What coverage we in, like f*ck is you talking ‘bout dawg”

I will die on this hill but David Fizdale was the worst coach in Knicks History. The only thing he did was being so bad he got Steve Mills fired

It’s still crazy to me Fizdale ran a PG competition all pre season to see who would start at PG and he decided to go with the guy who’s nickname is literally Iso Zo, who wasn’t even part of the competition. Top 10 worst coach in NBA history

Lol I know I’m gonna be the minority but while I wholeheartedly agree about Fiz being terrible, I hate seeing this type of talk that players have when they go on these podcasts. They have a lot to learn from guys like Larry Fitzgerald.

  4. Damn that man to hell. Finally someone spilling the tea after his buddies in the media wanted to kill the Knicks for firing his incompetent ass.

  5. Fiz was a modern day snake oil salesman and should be banned from MSG for life.

Wow, this is eye opening. Like I knew Fizdale was a bad coach but how tone deaf/out of touch is he to not even provide actual Xs and Os. This isn’t some movie where you throw some motivational speech and then everyone automatically plays well…

  7. 😂😂😂 most fitting david fraudzdale anecdote

Remember when he flew to Latvia to bond with KP 🤣

Payton had a dream, that no matter the color of his jersey that night, he would be judged on the content of his ball handling, distribution, and defense … unfortunately for him, that dream turned into an abject nightmare

And that was the mother fucker both LeBron and Wade publicly said the Knicks were crazy not to hire. Both of them should be blocked from being in Naismith for that alone.

I appreciated Elf’s tenacity but he would just hog the ball way too much for someone who can’t shoot

I’m gonna have to watch that full ep. This sounds like exactly what was going on, judging from the results of that season.

Tbh I literally forgot about Fiz until now. He’s like a bottle cap, easily forgettable and trashed.

Coaches and teachers sometimes try to get to psychological. Like, let me talk about a completely out of scope topic that might have a thread of relative theme to it that applies to basketball. This will come off as deep and thought provoking.

Elfrid Payton is right… These are not kids. These are professionals who just need to know some x’s and o’s in game plans. Find the motivation to be great for the first 20 years of their life. They’re all good with it

“They not gon rook us!”, he says, after being rooked

I remember when we got Fiz, it was viewed as a homerun because he was in tight with guys like Lebron

Reading this quote makes me appreciate what we have right now even that much more. I am going to be a downright disaster to every fan of other teams if we win the championship
