Keegan Murray, & Coach Brown | Postgame Pressers 1.31.24
Uh I mean no I think we’re just we’re getting open looks and sometimes they just don’t go down um it’s human nature sometimes so we know we’re getting good looks and good spray opportunities so we’re just banking on making them when you face a team like that that that’s in
A long losing streak with the experience that they’ve had are there lessons to be learned maybe from the desperation that they play with uh I mean yeah we’ve been in that situation um me a week ago or something like that so um we knew that they’re they’re hungry for a win um and
They came out and played like that so um yeah kudos to them they had 40 assist on 42 made shots what were they doing offensively to get the kind of looks that they did uh I feel like they just they really shared the ball well um swung it around made us
Rotate um I felt like a lot especially myself self was in a lot of rotations and things like that so um they shed the ball well and just got easy looks for for all their guys Jimmy Butler shooting 10 of 14 what what was the issue in in terms of I mean
Was it something where you guys just didn’t make the the looks difficult enough for him or was it a hot night for him what would you how would you assess that uh I mean a little bit of both I mean he what 10 of 14 9 12 free throws I
Mean he hit nine free throws so um got a lot of lot of fouls there so um that’s how you get your groove as a player of the free the line and he did good job of that with uh Josh Richardson uh having a big game off the uh bench 24 points you
Know without giving away The Scouting Report like we know he’s a hot guy did he just have one of those nights too many good looks for him what did you see out there yeah I mean I mean even I like I know just watching him um when when I
Was out of the league uh he’s a good shooter um guy that can really score the basketball so um yeah he’s he’s a a guy that and there’s a lot of streaky guys in this league and um he’s one of them that he sees the first one go he can get
It going so um feel like he’s he sparked them a lot Off the Bench tonight seven of 11 from three for you what was working for you specifically from distance uh just stay confident um I mean i’ I feel like um basket looked big tonight so I just kept shooting and um
Just trying to get open looks for myself so um just just confidence in myself bottom bottom line I we got to give uh the the heat a lot of credit they just I thought they outworked us tonight um the first half you know we had 11 deflections and we’re big on
Deflections it kind of gives us gives us an idea of what our activity level is and and uh we had 11 deflections in the first half which was pretty good I thought in the first half we missed a lot of open shots we uh we took some
Pretty good shots that we missed um but um we were active defensively and that’s what kept us in the game and then then the second half um we had three deflections the whole second half and for us again that’s a that’s a Telltale sign that we weren’t active enough uh on
The defensive side of the ball and then uh the biggest sign was they got after every loose ball you know we chart loose balls and we call them 50/50 balls and uh there were six of them out there and uh they got all six we were over for six in the 50-50 ball
Category um they they came up with it um we didn’t get on the ground we didn’t get to them um they were just Relentless pursuing the 50/50 balls and and and that’s that that tells a lot those those two things in my opinion tells a lot uh
Of what happened during the course of the game and like I said we we missed some shots especially early on that uh that I thought were good shots that might have gave gave us more confidence as the game went along and uh but at the
End of the day you know it’s going to be hard to come into somebody’s building especially somebody has desperate like the heat um and have three deflections in the second half and go 0 for six on the 50-50 balls and you know you give
Butler a lot of credit he was 10 for 14 he had a great game and even Josh Richardson came off the bench and impacted the game in a very very high way so I give them a lot of credit Mike how would you assess their Zone and how
You guys attacked it and the job you guys did against their Zone especially in the second half uh we did okay uh you know like I said you you’re going to get some looks and we got we got a couple wide open looks and um you know the
Reality of it is Keegan the only one that really shot the three ball well he’s seven for 11 but uh if you take if you take Keegan out you know we’re five for uh I don’t know what’s that 29 yeah five for 29 uh with the rest of the
Group and uh you know if if you’re open you got to let it fly and I felt our guys were open on some of those and so I’m okay with uh just thinking back on most of the looks that we got we’re we know we’re a good three-point shooting
Team um and you just hope that they go in coach you mentioned Jimmy and Josh’s game uh offensively and one of the other ways that the heat were able to kind of you know keep generating some offense there was the Tyler B pick and roll which has been a function of their
Offense for years now but has actually struggled a little bit this year relative to other Seasons what did you think about the way that they were kind of getting going off of uh that action there no it it real good you know bam uh heard us uh on the back side we didn’t
We didn’t do a good job tagging you know uh the the the Catalyst was really was uh Josh Richardson he came off the bench and and I thought he changed the game for them hitting those two quick quick threes and and once he hit those two
Quick threes he uh you know he gained a lot of confidence and you know being able to get you know 24 16 30 40 47 points from your bench with one guy getting 24 uh that’s tough to overcome so I I would say that he hurt us more than anything else you know
Jimmy’s going to get some or get his or whatever but you just hope that a guy like Josh doesn’t come off the bench and and go 9 for 15 or 6 for 10 from the three-o line with them shooting 46% from three you mentioned your three-point shooting how do you feel your defense
Was defending the three-point line uh you know it was okay and and I say it was okay because there were times that we had to tag or had to help and they just made the right pass they made the right play they they kept the game Real Simple on
That end of the floor they just threw it to the open guy and and they made us pay now they you know we we didn’t always execute our defense uh a pick especially the pick and roll game the way we like to um but um you
Know you got to give them credit because uh they made us pay every time we overh helped or uh or helped off the wrong guy and uh they stepped in and knock knock shots down which was which was huge this was the third straight game in which you
Know the the shooting numbers weren’t great for you guys I know it’s a road trip and you’re playing pretty good defenses but are there adjustments you can make offensively to to give yourself some easier looks are you pretty happy with the way the offense is playing
Aside from the shots going in yeah I tell you what Chris I mean if our guys are open I want them to shoot it uh you know it’s a fine line because if there’s a hard close out and you’re not shooting the ball well then snap drive and touch
The paint score it touch the paint or spray it you know um but man I when I’ve gone back and I’ve watched other games when they’re over I’m like okay he was FAL okay he was and tonight just from thinking about the game you know we had a handful of of open
Threes that that that we normally knock down and and the last thing I know I’m going to do is tell our guys to stop shooting the ball because we have a lot of great Shooters on this team

What a game for Keegan Murray
Where's Fox as you mentioned in your video description?
𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐍𝐍 𝐌𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐑𝐑𝐑𝐀𝐀𝐀𝐘𝐘
Without even watching I would bet my house Coach Brown says “gotta give the heat a lot of credit”
If we keep giving all our credit away we won’t any credit for ourselves.
Why do we NEVER HEAR FROM FOX WHEN THE KINGS LOSE??
The Franchise gets it.Everything about Keegan keeps Kings faithful with hopes of eventually getting further than 1st round appearances. His presence allows management to not be shackled by underachieving players. If everyone came into the season with an upgrade in one skill set or another there’d be more consistency.
Why on earth did Keegan not touch the ball the whole 2nd half bad coaching. Fox monk only looking for theirs
Fire Mike Brown
Despite the loss, awesome game from keeg. Damn near the new face of our franchise
