LeBron makes cryptic tweet, Should King James and the Lakers split? | NBA | FIRST THINGS FIRST

Brew he tweeted this hourglass that time is running out a bit cryptic there’s two hourglass emojis Brew one is when you just started and one is when it’s almost over this is over like the Days of Our Lives you know opening is the hourglasses running short yeah at the

End of days of our life exactly right I saw it this morning I didn’t have my reading glasses I had no idea what it was R thought it was a coffee maker I I thought it might be a Cofe I wasn’t sure what the heck that was okay um but an

Hour look what his comments didn’t bother me that that’s actually a true story I think might be a um his comments didn’t bother me obviously he’s saying thanks for cutting me off all that but his comments were fine the emoi was the real thing like oh my goodness that’s what raised eyebrows cuz

I don’t know exactly what it meant but it it it could have meant what it could have meant is not good could have meant uh is time ticking on Darin ham yes I say yes right that’s that’s draft pick number one one it it could have meant

It’s time ticking on some of my teammates before the Tre de yes or it could have meant it’s time tiing on my time with the Lakers or time none of those are good whichever one of those it ain’t good I know what it did what it it

Might be all three it didn’t mean I believe time sticking on my career like you know like obviously it is but I don’t think he’s saying I’m I’m be done after this year I think he’s going definitely keep playing a wild but here’s what I would say to LeBron real

Quick just on that last thing I don’t think he was saying I might be done after this year but I think it could have I think the fourth pick of the draft would be I don’t know how much time I have left you know what I mean

Which is as far as how much time I have at this level that would be the most benevolent of the four yeah and I think it’s also least likely but it’s on the Ral is hoping it was that I interrup Ed you I’m sorry go ahead I would say this

To LeBron with all due respect you’re better than this you are one of the two greatest players ever if anybody has the authority the right to go to darving ham to go to Rob pinka to go to the team and say look we got to get better we got to

Whatever it is whatever he thinks they should do say it I don’t have time for the Sherlock Holmes stuff I got to figure out what does LeBron mean you think that’s helping his teammates when they go into the game or practice the day and see this dude tweeted an

Hourglass I mean what what are we supposed to do yeah great LeBron has the most respect in the league he should be able to say to his teammates give them your real thoughts not for Clues right and and and I’ll also say this you might disagree I don’t think the roster

Is that bad it’s not the rer you got Anthony Davis who’s playing some of the best ball in his career and those role players are good role players so that’s so let me I I’ll go quickly on this CU I’m actually more interested in the other angle of this uh so the roster

Isn’t that bad it’s not great but it’s not bad ad is playing as well as he ever has LeBron’s been healthy so why are they so bad so that’s the thing that then does lean towards coaching if we don’t think the rosters got to the Western Conference Finals I understand

And tourn Kevin oor’s article that I know we’re going talk about later he had a stat in there that I could not believe which was that prior to the Warriors game the lineup of LeBron ad Reeves DLo and Vando which is the lineup they rode to the Eastern to the Western confence

Finals had played together n minutes all season now I know V was hurt but that’s still bananas and so I don’t here’s my real issue Wilds I do not not think the Lakers are a trade or a coach firing away from being able to win a championship so I think LeBron’s

Frustrated but I also think it should be I I happen to think Laker ownership’s been asleep at the wheel since Dr Bus died and I think that they they got bailed out by the fact that LeBron wanted to play for them and because he was LeBron and at that point still close

To Apex LeBron was able to will them a title once they got Anthony Davis but they’re not well-run they’ve made poor decisions and I don’t think that they have their finger on the pulse I don’t think it’s great ownership situation from the top down so I don’t think there is a fix

Here and and also and I I agree with you on that the 257 and seven that LeBron’s averaging that’s great for people cuz I heard somebody saying this earlier today that don’t me just because those are essentially his career averages he’s not close to what he used to be it’s a CR

He’s the best player we’ve ever seen at this stage of his career but he he is smart enough and has his skilled enough to know how to score in today’s NBA where it is easier to score obviously but he’s not close to the player he used

To I agree but do you think he’s still a top 15 guy oh yeah I I think he’s toward the back of that but yes do you think Anthony Davis is yeah ad so that’s why it’s so frustrating and worrisome for the Lakers because neither suffered an

Injury this year right and that and that could happen but even if you shouldn’t be on the level of Denver and Boston and those you have two of the best 15 players in the league I think easily I think they’re you know two of the 12 best probably there thereabouts uh and

And he’s right you can’t be relied on to beat the Hawks it’s going to be frustrating for but this is how it ends for a lot of Legends we’ll see unless you go Tom Brady style Kevin o Conor chairman of the don’t take LeBron for granted Hive switched it up and maybe

It’s time for LeBron not to take LeBron for granted writing if a breakup is inev itable I can’t help but wonder whether the best time for both LeBron and the Lakers to make a change now ahead of the deadline so what are the options would

The Heat Nicks or Sixers make an all in move what if the Warriors offer a bunch of their picks and young guys or could the Cavs see appeal in another LeBron homecoming RW do you like any of those options for the king well what I don’t

Think LeBron would ask for a trade that I mean he’s always fulfilled his contract so I don’t think he goes that route but he’s could be a free agent this summer so maybe the Lakers need to have that discussion with him if he wants that the thing is not easy to

Trade LeBron he’s making 51 million you have to make the salaries match and if you’re Philly I mean I presume the Lakers would want Tyrese Maxi and if you’re Philly you’re saying well LeBron’s got ad playing some of his best ball and they’re not even in the

Playoffs they’re in the play in in the west is LeBron and are LeBron and MB going to get us over to I don’t think they any chance of getting Tyrese Max I wouldn’t do Tyrese Maxi so I don’t think the one trade I like I don’t think the

Heat’s going to go back to that I like this and I don’t know if the Lakers would do it Golden State now I know that’s a pipe dream him and steep playing together but clay dad was a Laker you know there’s always been thoughts of clay playing for the Lakers

At some point expiring contract so you get that room if you’re the Lakers Kay and Jonathan kaminga and some picks do it if I’m going State why am I wait I think they’re done with that future plan maximize step’s time you bring him LeBron there I don’t know what

They’d look like but be it’ be fun to watch so I the that and I don’t think you have to get if LeBron wants to be traded I don’t think the team acquiring him has to give up nearly as much as people think because if he goes to

Lakers and says I’d like to be traded that also means I’m leaving in a few months and so that so that’s why you just got to get to the no no of course but I’m saying so I think I don’t think when you said clay and kaminga I think

That’d be the trait I don’t think you’d have to include picks I think it’ be you’d be getting Jonathan Lakers would take but yeah and so but I so I I think the Philly Nicks and uh Miami are all viable I and I and I did the trades and

So I’ll show them to you in a second I think the thing Bruce said in the beginning though I think should not be overlooked here I think LeBron takes a weird R and that never asked for a trade never asked out and I fulfilled every contract so I don’t think he will do

This I would love if he did this and so I can show you guys what the trades would look like show the here’s the Knicks Julius Randall Evan fornier and two first round picks Dallas’s first and Milwaukee’s first which the Knicks half so Dallas’s first top 10 protected Milwaukee’s first top four protect

Doesn’t matter the reason they have to include picks is I don’t know if the Lakers are super excited about getting Julius randle’s contract but get or for well for no no no of course that’s just to make the salaries work but what you get is picks when LeBron’s

Leaving I low picks the I yeah but something and so okay here’s Philly hold on yeah wait sorry I don’t love the ni so Tobias Harris cork M to make the money work and that’s a valuable pick the Clippers unprotected in four years that’s a valuable pick because we have

No idea what the Clippers are going to look like and the Sixers basically switch out Tobias Harris for LeBron James and then last but not least the Miami one no picks but you get Tyler herro under contract Duncan Robinson to make it work all here’s the point that I

Would make and I don’t know where you stand every single one of those teams would be better position to win a title than the Lakers are then if though if they made those traes I’m not I I didn’t really like any of those for the Lakers

But if LeBron tells you I’m leaving what if if you’re if the a week before the trade deadline you’re the nine seed which you are right now or the 10 and LeBron says I’m leaving isn’t getting anything back in return via draft Capital better than him just walking out the door draft Capital

But if I have to take on some deals that that have you know years on them I I don’t know I mean I Tobias is expiring yeah Tobias I’m looking at hero the other thing K wrote was are the Lakers trying to stack picks for

Luca it’s a full on I just started sque Dallas better figure it out with LCA there’s no reason they should be the freaking seventh SE Luka and Kyrie see you later thanks for watching subscribe here to get more from the show and to check out clips from other shows on FS1

  1. The roster IS bad. While the media was praising all the offseason moves, sane people were saying “let’s wait and see.”The Lakers have 2 championship level starters in the team, Bron and AD. Flatly 2 is not enough. That’s not a hot take, just the reality of the league.

  2. 2 of the top 12-15 is a tough sell. AD is fringe top 5 among bigs, and depending on your view of Wemby and Chet hems fringe Top 7-8. Bron is maybe top 5 among SFs when you take off the career glasses and look at his offense and defense THIS YEAR. And thats not even counting better Guards like Shai and Haliburton.

Yes hes almost 40, but if he’s playing that aint no excuse🤷🏾‍♂️ being old, tired quicker, less mentally focused on 1 play at a time not only reflects him, but the young cats around him will see the leader doing it and subconsciously follow suit

  3. Why doesn’t every year when this happens anyone acknowledge that the real problem is that no matter who the coach is they’re gonna run LeBron systems and in that system outside of Dwyane Wade you can’t find me many quality players who have been happy in that system. that’s the actual problem. The system is designed to make sure LeBron gets his numbers, full stop.

  4. Then again he may been talking about something else outside of basketball. Lol folks out here going crazy. Could be talking about him beating 40k points

  5. Chris makes this statement about LeBron's slippage in game effectiveness frequently. The reason I don't buy it is because LeBron is CLEARLY trying to give the reins to AD. He also clearly depends on the other players on the team that are 10 to 15 years younger than him (as he should). Agreed, he is not as freak an athlete against players 10 to 15 years younger, who are going to have better/quicker twitch response and more endurance than a 39 year old, and who, by the way, have been watching/studying his every move for 21 years (if they are even that old!). So 25, 7, and 7 is an excellent contribution to a team that's any good (that by the way, also has AD playing at an all-star level.)

  6. LeBron leaving when things get tougher??? WOW!!! What a shocker🙄 LeBron chasing titles…and ultimately failing??? WOW!!! What a shocker🙄

  7. People still doesn't get it, It's the West! Just because your team have Lebron it don't mean you are going to the finals. He can pnly do that in the East.

  8. We may argue whether LBJ is the GOAT, I do not believe he is, I think he is one of three players in the GOAT debate. But, LBJ is the GOAT for being passive aggressive.

  9. I'm a LeBron fan even though I consider MJ the Goat 🐐…But I hate his crying and tweets.. Bro just speak ur mind aloud.. What are you afraid 😨

  10. “He’s smart enough to know how to still score” you mean he knows how to throw his head back from every baby soft touch down in the paint and beg for free throws all game. LeBron is such a snooze to watch at this point.

  11. Lakers might consider trading Lebron or risk getting nothing in return. The future is not bright if he leaves and no draft capital.

  12. When Broussard said Bron wants everyone to “hunt for clues” I thought of a Scobby Doo cartoon

  13. I don't think LeBron basketball iq is that high at all cause he would know ad does enough for him to loose. Or the nba is rigged like wwf and LeBron is in on it

  14. Lebron my guy on the court but, he wrong on this one, the Hawks proved they was not just any team a couple of years ago when they made that deep playoff run that nobody expected including me, and the nba is not like the nfl, you have to win an 8 game series so the winner is truly the better team. On top of that Trae Young is close behind Kyrie Irving as the most clutch player in the nba.

  15. So he’s one of the top 12 players in the NBA but when you ask for a little defense “What you want he’s 40 years old?”. So they want it both ways, got it.

  16. Its a lose lose … bron comes out and says it .. its a bad thing .. he is cryptic .. its a bad thing … if he punches dlo like Jordan it’s a bad thing
