Basketball fans ail Austine and the NBA TV young boys Javon Shepard Warren Ward taking a timeout right now to honor some of our favorite Canadians currently making black history war and I’ll start with you who you shouting out in this rare opportunity uh I’m going to shout
Out Miss Marcy Ian okay and the reason why I’m doing that is because when I first got into broadcasting I sent her my demo tape because of um you know her position on TV and you know I wanted her to watch it and I didn’t hear anything
Back and she got my number and called me at 6:30 in the morning oh she’s the early bird and and when I woke up and I was like hello she like and she in my do stuff in my eye all that you know right and I I
Wake up and and she’s like hi Warren this is Miss Marcy energetic at 6:30 in the morning and she watched the tape and told me and critiqued it and gave me some really good feedback and offer it to help and she didn’t have to do any of
That so you know at that point in time I was I’m nobody to her and uh she did that and every time I see her it’s always love so big shout out to her because that moment really helped me um you know do this and want to be a part
Of it former television personality now member of Justin Trudeau’s cabinet and I just like to say um a Trinidadian so you know that’s a that’s a good look we can’t all be perfect but that’s that’s okay that’s okay okay all right Javon the stage is yours um you you know what
And you know when you asked us this before I really couldn’t pinpoint one person right and I think black history Munch is so so special because it’s a it’s an opportunity for us to educate um celebrate and even for guys like yourself right the positions that you
Guys are in and just really opening the eyes of you know our country people globally our world whatever the case may be um and just tip my hat to you guys right it’s you guys I’m I’m give me give me some credit give you some love I’ll
Take it I’ll take me real that’s real okay no respect I think we have you know we can talk about players we can talk with celebrities our parents but we also have a responsibility to our own communities to just Enlighten right educate and just change narratives and just broaden people’s perspectives and
Minds okay um I want to take this opportunity to Big up my guy Curtis Celestine Who currently holds the position of the black liaison officer with uh the Toronto Police Service uh and I know the relationship between the black community and the police has been a fraught one for generations simply
Because of you know just the origination of the police is a a force to police black people to police um other identities uh to protect corporate property and never really looked out for the little guy and he’s doing some great work I work with him on some youth
Initiatives and I think Curtis is doing a great job unfortunately he is a Jamaican from monreal so you know he doesn’t check all the Toronto Trad boxes but he is a great human being he’s a guy at standby so just one of props to my guy Curtis C he’s perfect okay all right
