Kevin Durant going to Brooklyn HURT his legacy 🗣️ – Perk on KD leaving Warriors | NBA Countdown

Kevin Durant he is back in barklay center tonight this time as a member of the Phoenix Sun this is wild but true tonight’s game will eclipse the total number of games played the big three for the Suns that Kyrie Irving Kevin Durant and James Harden ever played in the

Regular season and playoffs combined and when it came to the topic of a tribute video Kevin Durant took to social media and said please don’t the night will be better without it it’s polite and direct it is uh the Nets are doing a tribute video though yeah Michael for this to

What um to Tribute to a period of dysfunction and I’m not blaming Kevin Durant for much of any of it none I’m just saying but that was the what are we going to remember about that period dysfunction that’s all the Nets were that and a toe on the line with a

Three-pointer yeah but in terms of the way it malfunctioned come on now it’s not I mean it’s not sugar C well Kevin Durant did leave where oh the Golden State Warriors yeah I wasn’t going to say you specifically Bob to join the the Brooklyn Nets what was that like at the

Time what were your thoughts how much time we got how much time do we have here 15 I can create seconds what was it like uh I was sad um the guy helped me personally our organization win two championships I think that sometimes gets lost the risk he took in coming to

The Warriors when I was talking to him before he came Malika he said he was nervous because he knew half the world or half the country or half the basketball fan population were going to come down down his road and they did so he took that risk and I admire him for

Taking that a lot of players wouldn’t take that on and he delivered by the way two two championships two MVP of of the finals maybe a third if he’s healthy you can’t argue that’s not a big reach but when he left I think um is it’s a good

Saying just because you don’t understand doesn’t mean I’m confused so we all didn’t understand it Kevin had his reasons and they’re his reasons and they don’t have to be mine or yours or yours or yours we’re up here free to comment on it I wish he would have stayed I

Think he would have won more we would have won more you don’t replace a guy like that talk about risk what’s the bigger risk going to play with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and Draymond Green and Steve cerr and you or going to play with Kyrie Irving yeah look

Seriously but Mike in his mind he had to go okay but but it doesn’t have to be you you could if you’re sitting there talking to him or you are or you anybody can say what are you doing and he might say you know what they criticize me for

Coming they criticize me for going I’m just going to do what I want to do even criticizing I’m just saying if he used the phrase the word risk what’s the bigger risk going to a team that just set the record for regular season wins with once again Steph Curry Klay Thompson Draymond Green

Steve cerr or going to play with a complete and utter Wild Card who had not been functional for long on any team or loyal to any team and since we’re bringing up Kevin Durant tweets and things of that nature how about his interviewer of about two weeks ago

Talking about why should why he should be in the goat conversation you know why because him going to Brooklyn and wasting three years of his valuable time and it hurt his legacy for as being in the goat conversation because if he stay in Golden State then he have two more

Championships and maybe two more finals MVPs and now we actually could put you in the in in that conversation but here’s the thing right when I look at KD I think that strongly believe he’s the greatest scorer to ever touch the damn basketball you and I debate about this

Every time we see each other but when it comes down to it he would never own up that it was a mistake by him by leaving Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors to go team up with Kyrie Irving who at the time had been lying to every

Single organization he was coming across including my boss you know it’s I I bet you don’t I bet he would do it again as crazy as that sounds okay I you know it doesn’t have to be right right yeah but that’s he was not he was gone and and that’s

Where he was going so he wasn’t like I’m not sure if I’m staying or going it’s how this decision changes sort of the recent history of the NBA cuz I there’s a couple more championships probably hey I wanted him to stay okay I could have had

More Bob you got out bid it by KY glad that you’re here I wouldn’t be here I’d have more that’s going to do it for us here on ESPN it’s time for us to head over to ABC for The Final Countdown to Kevin Durant’s return to [Applause] [Applause] Brooklyn

Kendrick Perkins, Bob Myers and Michael Wilbon join Malika Andrews on NBA Countdown to discuss Kevin Durant’s return to Brooklyn as the Phoenix Suns take on the Brooklyn Nets.

  1. KD going to the warriors hurt his legacy. they were contenders without him. theyve won 2 without him. KD hasnt won anything since leaving GSW

  2. I don’t get it. We shat on him for going to GSW but he leaves GSW and it hurt his legacy?? Like idk I just don’t get it fr. I get it he didn’t do anything in Brooklyn fr but you really think his legacy woulda been way better had he stayed in GSW?

  3. KD only played 2 in a half years in Brooklyn he missed the whole 2019-2020 season and only played half a season with Nets last year before going to the suns

  4. You have it wrong him going to Brooklyn showed that he’s still an offensive juggernaut. If his foot wasn’t on that line he would’ve hand a ring hands down. KD had one of the best playoff performances in that run. Bucks game plan was have kd cook and just stop the pieces around him.

The Celtics that year exploited the nets weakness by playing pure defense which caused them to get swept. Kd just didn’t accomplish much in Brooklyn which was the flaw he did prove a point though. There’s too many ifs in kds resume but he’s still a goat

  5. So Perk is saying if KD would have stayed in Golden State and won two more rin
gs and two more MVPS he would definitely be in the GOAT conversation? I don't understand. I thought he couldn't be in that conversation BECAUSE he went to Golden State.

  6. KD will never be in GOAT debate 😢 his reputation is not good and will never be unfortunately he’s made questionable decisions

  7. kd should’ve joined phoenix the moment he left the warriors! brooklyn was not the place for him because of kyrie… if he joined phx in 2019, the suns would’ve won the championship in 2021!

  8. KDs career in BKY was a blur to me. I used to watch him in OKC and GS but paid no attention to him in BKY. Something about that team just felt Meh. And look at the results. 🤦🏽‍♂️ thats how most people probably feel with the move to Brooklyn

  9. Honestly I feel that harden trade was not the right move, I mean sure at the time it makes sense but they already had KD and kyrie, along with solid young and veteran role players like Dinwiddie, Levert, Allen Harris etc.. thought that team had crazy potential

  10. Everything Kevin Durant has ever tried to do is in the name of greatness and in his own way. It really didn't work out how he envisioned, but he tried and tried to do it his way. He is greater and more successful than every single person in these comments combined.

  11. So yall believe rings matter but yet yall calling lebron the goat? Y’all need to praise great players his legacy is cemented as one of the greatest players to ever play

  12. What legacy? His titles came on a team that had already won a title and returned to the finals and took it 7 games. He didn't bring them anything more than help, and they were so stacked, any player who was good could fill that role. He leaves, then what title has he got? He's played with Harden, Kyrie, D Booker, and now Beal. He's this unstoppable scoring machine, but he's third in the league in scoring. Anyone remember his placement last year in scoring? Kd is a great player, but yall lift him up to levels he isn't reaching. Sorry, numbers matter! His legacy is that he's real good, and has been on great teams. Nothing more. He did lead our Olympic team that was stacked barley through to the Gold metal, but it wasn't pretty at all. Stop calling him the greatest scorer too. That's silly for a dude who hasn't lead the league in scoring in a very long time!

  13. Bob Myers was funny. 'I wouldn't be here'
    1. I wouldn't have left a shitty situation in the GSW after 2022
    2. I wouldn't be here with you sorry morons on TV

  14. yall still talking about that, kd is a goat if he wasnt a goat why they use to compare kd with lebron and the other greats . The media got yall tripping fr
