Ok so Embiid shouldn’t have won the MVP last year. Both Jokic and Giannis had better seasons, numbers, and their teams were higher seeds. That was clearly a media push for him. It was only a 2 man race. Pick either one of those guys and it would’ve been correct.
I was at the game!! And it got so quiet! Everyone was just talking about how we hoped he was okay including all the warrior fans. Poor kuminga must feel horrible, and he was just trying to play hard, i mean embid pushed him to the ground 5-10 minutes earlier. I think it was a rough game and he shoulda sat way earlier. I don’t think All NBA should have the same criteria as MVP, DPOY, Rookie of the year, MIPOY etc (ie award where on person wins), make the threshold 50 games for all nba. Cause Embiid doesn’t deserve mvp over Jokic if he misses an extra 10-15 games but I feel like he should still qualify or 1st or 2nd team all nba or 1st and 2nd team all defense etc

The reality is that there is no fixed number that would be appropriate, a significant portion of the high level talent this season are not going to play 65 games, primarily due to injury and injury management. It has to be a factor, but there are few ironmen in the league… Westbrook, Bridges, Looney? Come on. At least set a dynamic cutoff based on league performance at the end of the year.

I don’t like the single number threshold. Why can’t the voters just recognize the number of games played in their consideration of the award? If a player in 60 games was more valuable than a guy in 70 games, let the voters see it and vote accordingly. If there are two equal players and one plays 10 more games than the other, then he should be favored.
I don’t think they should let the players sit out at all if they’re healthy. It’s absurd. Just shows how spoiled these players are now. You make all that money and don’t even have to show up for work if you don’t want to. Unless they’re dealing with a REAL injury or having some serious mental issues, they need to play.
