Joe Mazzulla: “Stretches of bad basketball happen. … Am I pissed about losing? Yes. But am I ecstatic about the opportunity to grow as a team? I’m more happy about that.”

Some positive takeaways from Joe

This literally happened last season and he has yet to find ways to win without the 3 ball it’s comical atp lol

37-12 and still not peaking. I like what he said. It was a frustrating loss but improvement will come and the games that matter are on April to June.

He’s gonna draw up plays to get porzingis to shoot even further from the basket

Guaranteed post up 2 points <<< 32% three point shooter chucking it up 30 feet

  4. I think we as fans need to realise the players on the team aren’t die hard Celtics fans. They don’t care about match ups like this. Atleast the guys on this current team aren’t

This ain’t a .500 promising looking team building a culture, ITS A FUCKING CHAMPIONSHIP FAVORITE. Look we’re gonna have some losses and sometimes we’re gonna look like shit, but against this team, with lebron and Ad out, in fucking prime time!!!! All I’m saying if we don’t WIN the chip, joe mazzula must get fired into the fucking sun cause I’m starting to think that this dude doesn’t understand anything

Hes right tho, its hard to constantly improve when things are always going your way, and having tough times during this rough stretch of the season can benefit the team. As long as we don’t lose out on standings, I 100% appreciate this take. But you can also kinda tell that the guys are pretty tired, a lot of good shots not hitting, and defensively we are a step slow.

  7. I get talking about learning, but he should be more focused on being pissed. These are veterans who have gone deep into the playoffs multiple times. At some point, you should have learned to take teams missing their stars more seriously

Why don’t you change the game plan every now and then if it doesnt work?

Has this not happened often since the Jays have been the core of this team, no one should really be surprised by now

  10. The opportunity to grow as a team is not the same as actually growing as a team. Mazzulla has now coached this team for a year and a half, experiencing about 45 losses during that time. What wisdom is he going to impart upon this team after tonight that he hasn’t already told them? If they’re not going to even try for an entire game, and therefore they get humiliated by the bench of a .500 team at home, isn’t this an indication that they’re not properly taking the opportunity to grow? Shouldn’t they be trying to win games like these rather than using them as lessons for what not to do?

I don’t think this is positive. Being positive about losses is silly, especially when we don’t exactly have years and years of potential growth like some younger teams. It’s basically now or never. Be pissed, and get the team pissed.

Every team has stretches of lackluster play and energy. Even championship teams. You can’t be locked in from start to finish. Part of the process is pulling yourself out of funks and how you play through it. Thats where teams find out things about themselves. Thats how you gut out a win or win ugly in the postseason. You need that ability at times and the only way to test yourself are these stretches during the season

The schedule has been heavy for the last two months. Seems like it’s been constant 3 in 4 and 4 in 6 stretches over that time frame. Last night was a 3 in 4. All star break is around the corner. The team knows it and are probably looking forward to the rest.

Find a way through this stretch and refocus for the next part of the season
