Team is dominant because of its defense. Reward the two scorers instead of the generational defender. Cool story.
You could make the case for Rudy over KAT pretty easily, but despite how terrific this team is defensively it’s fairly mediocre offensively…. and man I would not want to see what this offense would look like without KAT this year consistently providing scoring and spacing.
the main person disrespected in all of this is Sabonis who is somehow #7 on the MVP ladder but not in the ASG. it should’ve been sabonis then gobert then KAT as far as ordering goes for that spot imo

All-Star is about the stars not most impactful players. That’s why players LeBron, Steph, KD,… will always make it. Even if their teams have a bad season or some other players have better season.
All-Star is not All NBA. It’s not the best players, it’s the best stars.
The league need to make their mind up what the all-star selection is.

Gobert is legitimately one of the most disrespected players in the league year in and year out. Everyone always loves to talk their shit on him whenever he has a defensive lapse but never praises the impact he has on the game or his team. Hell even when he retires he’ll probably be slandered like crazy still.
I mean he already legit cried about it so I’m sure he’s ok.
I mean, what is he going to do in the ASG where no one plays defense?
All star game need to expand so bad, the league is simply too talented. A lot of guys getting snubbed are better than all stars from 20 years ago.

The wolves are weird – because their second best player is either Ant, KAT, or Gobert, and probably isn’t better than other teams 2nd best player.
On the other hand the wolves 3rd best player is either Ant, KAT, or Gobert, and, aside from maybe the clippers, has an argument for being the best 3rd best player in the NBA.
So when it comes to All Star voting, Ant is probably a shoe in – he had the counting stats and passes the eye test.
KAT has been ridiculously efficient, is one of the best 3pt shooters in the game right now and his volume there has gone up. I do wonder if they call one of the two fouls on KAT on the final drive of that Charlotte game and he finishes with 64 and the win how it changes his recent narrative.
Gobert is full of intangibles, and a lot of the voters probably have watched 36 fewer games of his than I have this year, so while I agree he should be in, I get why he’s not.
So it comes down to: yeah the best team in the west should have 2 all stars at least (because some worse teams have 2) – and no one is going to like the second one. Because they’re probably less of an “all star” than some people who got snubbed – but at least KAT is in their for a combination of individual and team success right and and not an all star for legacy or fan vote reasons. There have for sure been bigger slights in the past for dumber reasons.

At this point they should call it the all-offense teams if you’re going to just completely ignore defense for it, that way people don’t get confused thinking it’s actually the best players in the league.
