Why Doc Rivers Is NOT The Answer For The Bucks

Why Doc Rivers Is NOT The Answer For The Bucks

Despite playing at a 57- win Pace the Milwaukee Bucks decided a coaching change was necessary to salvage what was left of an Allin season even if the team’s dismissal of Adrien Griffin was justified the Optics of replacing Griffin with Doc Rivers are downright hilarious the Bucks are merely putting

Lipstick on a pig rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic use any metaphor you want despite making the biggest move of the off season and being my pre-season title pick the Bucks are going nowhere this year and there’s nothing Rivers can do to change that Griffin’s bucks had the third best

Winning percentage of any team in history to make a midseason coaching change and the best two teams to do it both went on to win that year’s championship don’t expect the same result from Rivers bucks I’m not a real doctor I’m just Doc Rivers among the many championship traits the 1980 Lakers

And 2016 Cavs shared both teams boasted top 10 defenses including at the time the coaching changes were made the Bucks began the rivers ERA with the League’s 19th ranked defense as a reminder the only below average defenses to win NBA titles belong to the 1956 Philadelphia Warriors and the 2001

Lakers who had an all-time playoff switch they could flip whenever they wanted with Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant boyed by tremendous Personnel Rivers has had defensive success in the past so it’s possible he can improve a unit that features allor Rim protectors and deterrent janison TMO and Brook Lopez though Griffin had already

Abandoned a foolish early season scheme and put Lopez back in drop coverage Rivers could further refine things by scaling back on Griffin’s misguided ball pressure pressure but mere Improvement won’t be enough even with Lopez in drop Giannis roving like a free safety and a more conservative approach on the perimeter Milwaukee’s poorest perimeter

Defenders will ultimately be the Bucks undoing starting Malik Beasley in the same back court as Damen Lillard has turned out as defensively disastrous as predicted Pat conon and campaign add little Off the Bench and 32-year-old Chris Middleton no longer provides much resistance at the point of attack

Himself I’m not who I used to be marjon bamp and Andre Jackson Jr could help in theory but young players aren’t really docs Mo though the Bucks boast the League’s second most efficient offense that might actually be the end of the floor where Milwaukee has the biggest room for growth given the team’s

Personnel You could argue that the Bucks should just Spam pick and rolls run by an TMO and or Lillard until someone proves they can stop such actions but this offense also needs to get more imaginative by the time the postseason rolls around and needs to find ways for

Giannis and Dame to play off each other better than they have to this point that’s easier said than done given the surprisingly clunky offensive fit between the two thus far and giannis’s issues as a short roller which is why Finding Solutions will take creativity unfortunately while he’s earned a

Reputation as an after timeout Savant River’s base offensive sets have been anything but creative or imaginative take it attack it attack it throw it now play the game just look at how Nick nurse has reinvented Philadelphia’s offense and further empowered and improved Joel embiid’s playmaking in Doc’s wake he’s looking better look I’m

Not suggesting Doc is some coaching bump far from it he’s won more NBA games than all but eight other bench bosses in history and the rush to clown him has gotten out of hand in fact the pendulum has swung so far the other way that Rivers might be underrated at this point

But that doesn’t make this situation any less comical a team so invested Ed in winning a championship that even playing at a 57 win regular season Pace couldn’t save their coach’s job replaced that coach with one who has a reputation for winning regular season games and then

Falling short in the playoffs it’s so bold strategy cotton let’s see if it pays off for him despite coaching teams led by Duos like Chris Paul and Blake Griffin kawi Leonard and Paul George and embiid and James Harden Rivers hasn’t been to the Conference Finals in his

Last 11 Seasons take his entire 25-year coaching career into account and the 2008 champion and 2000 coach of the year is the only coach in history to blow three different 31 series leads he’s lost an NBA record five straight game sevens has lost 11 straight closeout

Games in the second round or further and his overall record when his team has a chance to close out a best of seven series is abisal again I don’t bring this up to tear down Doc’s entire resume which the major majority of Basketball Coaches would trade for in a heartbeat

But does that postseason record sound like it jives with a Bucks team that is basically admitted playoff success is all that matters in a rush to hire an available and experienced coach the Bucks somehow answered that question with a yes and while still paying both Griffin and Mike buen holer committed to

Rivers through 2027 barring a drastic change to giannis’s Supporting Cast or a defensive Awakening history suggests the Bucks won’t be winning another title between now and then the only question now might be how soon the trade request speculation begins thanks for watching if you like this video and want to see more content

  1. They gutted the defense for offence – 2 yrs in a row, and now they think they can compete? if they cannot outscore the other team, they are done as it stands.

  2. What's matter with all these groupies living in denial. The picture clear as ice Dame is the problem with Milwaukee not Griffin not Doc but Dame. Giannis never needed a greedy iso scoring point guard who lack defense, court vision and IQ and not effective playing off the ball. Giannis had alwsys needed a true playmaker point guard that's the problem.

  3. Until you learn how to take losses, you will become a miserable winner.

Giannis pursuits are destroying the joy the Bucks players had while playing.

  4. seems like no matter what the Bucks are painted into a corner, being forced to pay long contracts on multiple head coaches, even if they do win a championship this year or next.

  5. He IS the answer, because all they want is someone to blame after their next playoffs failure, and Doc is the perfect scapegoat for them.

  6. Doc Rivers is a mid level coach at best. He got 1 chip with a superteam 16 years ago and is still milking it to this day. Other than that, he's had a history of blowing 3-1 leads in the playoffs due to his inability to make adjustments.
