The Tim Hardaway Jr. dilemma

“If the Mavericks have to play THJ in clutch, they have to set him up for success. First of all, the coaching staff cannot put him in a position where he gets trapped on the baseline. If he has to play to close a game, send him down to space the floor or catch the ball in transition.

They know THJ, his strengths and weaknesses are clearer to them than to us, so they have to support him and not set him up to fail.”

Thought this was a very sobering piece on THJ’s role and how J Kidd isn’t setting him up for success and maximizing his strengths against his weaknesses (low BBIQ, poor reads, weak defense, etc). FWIW IMO Timmy could be a super valuable role player here, or for another contender, but only with a coach who understands how to use him

the thing is we have some knowlege that kidd think THJ is a good defender for some reason he put him sometimes with the “good defender of the team” when we only need defense for 1 position, and i dont think anyone on this sub think THJ is a good defender

  2. THJ is having his best season in Dallas… I know he struggles to make reads but that has never been his strongest quality, yet the Mavs need him to be that 3rd creator for the team so he is being asked more of what he is really capable of.

The thing is if Exum is available he’s much better on the floor in the clutch than THJ as he’s a better ballhandler.

    So Booker/KD didn’t scored 70 on Hawks.
How, when ESPN told me it’s so easy.

It’s always the same excuses from the people who don’t want to trade him. The roster construction is poor so he’s asked to do too much. We know. He’s one of our few assets we can use to actually improve the roster construction and get someone who can do what they’re asking him to do. That’s the whole point.
