Why Cam Whitmore Is The FUTURE of the Houston Rockets

Why Cam Whitmore Is The FUTURE of the Houston Rockets

Cam Whitmore just gets buckets it’s that plain and simple his last five games 25 points 21 minutes 17 points 20 minutes 20 points 18 minutes 19 points 29 minutes 24 points 20 minutes Kobe Bryant is the only other teenager to put up 17 or more in five straight games off the

Bench in NBA history let’s take a look at the film cuz this dude can get Buckets overall he’s Relentless as a driver here he’s getting pressure at half court Fred Van Fleet got him a screen and what that’s going to do is put a smaller guard onto him because

They’re playing a switching defense and you could tell he doesn’t even feel feel the point guard and when he gets mismatches like this he’s going to get downhill and get to the rim and then he has the ability to elevate over a ton of Rim protectors because he’s an athletic

Freak of nature you ain’t blocking that 19 years old 67 230 plus pounds he is a unit when he gets downhill and then you combo that with his speed take this play versus the Pelicans for example against Brandon Ingram he’s got him on an island he sees the space and opportunity to his

Left and he acts like he’s going to take the screen like he’s a veteran but that’s all an illusion and then he hits the gas pedal see you later and then when he hits Brandon Ingram he’s not going to feel it because like we said he don’t feel contact and he gets around

Him and now it’s a Layin and he takes the contact and one babe and he’s just so aggressive 24/7 he plays with extreme confidence like he’s an Allstar already and he just reminds me so much of Jaylen Brown again against the Pelicans he just dribbles through everyone in the Fast

Break situation don’t sleep on his handles and he has two small guards around him and he does the spin move and jam on your head once again watch this play and who do you think of it just looks identical to Jaylen Brown in my humble opinion and off ball he is

Tremendous as well he can be used as a cutter example against the Raptors here Fred Van Fleet draws his Defender cam Whit more smartly cuts and then look at him go against the rim protector yakob purle purle has no shot he’s too quick off the ground as soon as he catches

He’s going up and he elevates a Above the Rim how do you how do you recover you can’t like I said off the ball he is a weapon Tate trying to abuse a mismatch draws noira in the paint whip pass over to cam Whitmore and he’s catching and

He’s making the defense pay for forgetting about him that’s all you ask of a rookie and then here J Shante gets in the painted region everyone ball watching cam Whitmore makes himself available little slight movement does the job Catch Fire release Cash Money wet wet overall you could just tell from

Watching him he just has that natural knack to put the ball in the basket find a way to score here he gets it on the dribble handoff gets a screen and somehow someway he splits that little Gap oh my goodness that’s the smallest gap on human Earth and he gets through

And then you see the physicality he’s not even on balance he says get off of me and then eventually he gets on balance in the air and has the ability to kiss it off the glass for two through contact if he’s a star that is an an one by the

Way and you can tell there’s more to his bag because you see little plays and you’re like oh my goodness if he does that consistently come on now and look at this against Boston in garbage time off the catch see you later oh into the crossover making the defender dance into

The pull up MIDI bang and you can tell this man has balls of steel as a rookie because he’ll come in and just start firing but also you can tell he doesn’t really feel pressure 106 103 in the fourth quarter I mean this is a crucial possession down three points and he’s

Just you know dribbling dribbling he senses the defender disrespecting his pullup jumper and he pulls up from three it’s a tie game now he’s going to be an elite driver in Elite finisher and I believe he can grow into a scorer who’s a threat to score from anywhere on the

Court at any time with the ball in his hands he’s going to be elite one day on the offensive end of the floor and defensively there’s already signs and he has the body to be great on that end as well if he fully Buys in I think he has

Some decision making issues in terms of passing the ball every now and again but with his style that that’s going to be an issue especially at 19 years of age you just got to hope he learns and grows as a player let me know your thoughts below though 19 years old and getting

This production from him insane insane he’s going to be a star one day

  1. that connection between him and amen is going to blossom into something really special. they're already vibing on and off the court. cant wait for the future of the rockets

  2. Cam is lucky to be coached by Ime Udoka. I can’t imagine if he wastes 2 years under Stephen Silas playing G League basketball.

  3. Love this guy. I called it when I saw him being drafted. Kinda made me concerned when he was sent to the D league but he is a star.

  4. The Rockets need to put more weight behind Cam Whitmore and Amen Thompson and get Jalen Green the hell outta there. He's the Achilles heel.

  5. I saw him against the Mavs in garbage time last month and thought to myself the Rockets have a player here. In that game he had a dunk where the alley oop came from half court. I see why he was a top recruit out of high school. Had a slow start to his freshman year but ended strongly.

  6. Cam is an absolute stud!! He will be the king of Houston if he keeps playing the way he has been. Sorry for the people who have high hopes for Jalen but he is on the chopping block, if theres opportunity to trade him for someone thacould fit our mold better he will be gone.

  7. Once he learns to draw fouls he will be an menace. The Rockets should absolutely trade Jalen Green while his value is somewhat high

  8. Cam is where Jalen would be in 6 years from now.
    Jalen 3P% projection:
    2025 – 33%
    2026 – 34%
    2027 – 35%
    2028 – 36%
    2029 – 37%
2030 – 38% Cam waitin' for you and playin' with Jalen's 5 yr old baby.

  9. The Rockets overall are pretty scary. Jalen just had another efficient night shooting wise which is all you can ask of him. The young core will be ready after this upcomjng summer mark my words. This may go down as one of the best drafts and trades of young talent all time because no one really is missing a beat when it comes to development in conjunction with whats expected at there respective ages. Its looking really good for the Rockets right now. Be patient with Green, he maturing and learning and trying to flip thst grown man switch, i can see it, ay maybe becoming a father is what he needed, who knows.

  10. Romp 2 0 good commentary good analysis. The Rockets got them a steel. I don’t know what he did during the combine to turn people off. But he didn’t shoot anybody or give somebody a weapon that was killed like the guy from the Charlotte Hornets. I think his name is Miller, but he’s a good player as well. He just made a bad mistake, Coach Udoka send him down to the GL for a number assignments and he was lighting them up down there. Because he already had one rookie I think it’s last name is Thompson he’s working with trying to get him better. But I think Whitmore is going to be the steel. He’s already showing it and like he said at 67, 230+who can elevate his defense is still learning, but his offense is like going to a China shop and he’s a bull. You better get out of the way if you don’t want something broken. I like this game.

  11. Jalen green is a good scorer but when he doesn’t score he doesn’t do anything else well, he doesn’t rebound, play defense or pass well. Cam whittmore is a scorer but he does everything well too like rebound, passing, steals and blocks for a shooting guard look at his stats they’re similar of Jimmy butler. If cam becomes a starting shooting guard he’s basically un guard able he’s too big for guards and too fast for forward. Remember what he did in the summer league? All he needs is more playing time. He would be like Lebron but at 2 spot.

  12. Jalen green shooting stats this season:
    Jalen avg 41/81/22
    Cam 49/67/39
Numbers don’t lie who’s the better shooting guard???

  13. Alright. Raptors got a trade offer for you, Houston. Cam Whitmore for Bruce Brown or Gary Trent JR. Houston wants vets, Raptors wants young players. Let's get it done!

  14. very explosive and high energy good defense, also reminds me of ex rockets player gerald greeen hope he stays and keeps developing

  15. The first time I saw him play when the season started, my thought was this is a man among boys but he's the teenager😮!

  16. Man this guy is insane , and only 19 years old!!!! Omfg what a good time to be a Houston fan!!! Getting 2017 vibes all over again

  17. I hate how when we bring him up people start hating on Green. Like why not have both, that’s really stupid. They both can score, why get rid of someone who can get a bucket when he wants. I will take both of them
