So you guys don’t miss any of our content over the course of this season all right let’s talk some basketball who has more pressure on them in this playoff run jannis and tenmo or Jason Tatum we’ll start with you Logan I would argue that Jason Tatum maybe has more

Pressure on his shoulders than any other player in all of basketball this season com into the playoffs uh considering his shortcomings uh in the playoff stage that we’ve seen in late game scenarios where he has a lock of lack of shot dynamism where he has struggled when

There’s a lot of ball pressure applied to him uh where he’s crumbled in these big moments uh to put it you know to put it simply and you couple that with the fact that Boston has really gone all in on this core and they’ve invested more

Into uh you know this top five of this lineup uh they’ve got Chris porzingis they’ve got Drew holiday they’ve got Derek white they’ve got Jaylen Brown like at this point if the Celtics don’t get it done this year it’s a major disappointment and all of that blame is

Going to fall on the shoulders of Jason Tatum considering the fact that Giannis has already climbed the mountain you know I mean Giannis can have as many Giannis can have as many late game gaffs and poor you know executions in the clutch he got it done that’s all that

Really matters he had a 50 piece on the biggest stage we saw Tatum in the finals and sure he had a couple of good games but they crumbled against the Warriors they had that Series in the bag that’s his legacy until he changes it right crumbled in game seven against the Miami

Heat that’s the Celtics reputation and that’s Jason Tatum’s reputation considering how stacked the roster is uh I think Tatum has more to prove in these playoffs than anybody else in basketball I think he’s got the kind of the weight of the world on his shoulders man he’s

Atlas right now I agree and I think that Logan makes a great Point once you have climbed the mountain once and especially once you’ve done it in the fashion that Giannis did and I’m not talking about the run in terms of competition cuz you have the Nets down basically two of

Their three stars they had James Harden barely walking around and then the Hawks and a sun steam that was good uh but maybe not totally Championship ready it’s not about that murderer row that he had to go through but it’s about the level that he played at individually

Like Giannis was unbelievable in that run and specifically in the finals that puts you in a different tier in terms of I think the margin that you have and last year was ugly but he still has more margin the expectations are different also he has done that and Tatum hasn’t

But Tatum is the guy who a lot of people it seems want to Crown as like one of the kings of the league right alongside yic and Yannis and I don’t think that he’s quite on that level as a player and he does not have that sort of playoff

Resume and especially this year he has everything everything going in his favor the Celtics have been overwhelmingly talented for the last couple years this is a different level though man we say this often on our show they have five Allstar caliber basket players basketball players on the same team this

Is not just the most talented starting five in the league if you take away the number one guy the Nuggets starting lineup is really good but the two through five are not as loaded as what Boston has it’s one of the most talented starting fives of this Century like

Legitimately in that top tier and so when you have the reputation where we do see the tremendous variance from him game to game because of his Reliance on pullup threes where he’s not always the most efficient when you think about some of the turnover issues that he had in

The finals run especially in late game situations the offense just sort of devolving and Tatum is at the center of that was really bad in game seven against the Heat was bad in game six against the Warriors in the finals it just feels like he is the guy who has

All of The Perfect Storm circumstances coming together for this to just be a pressure cooker like pressures on him and basically every sense he has the overwhelming advantages and he hasn’t proven it this is the year he’s got to do it yeah it’s funny because I think Giannis

Definitely has some pressure like yeah he’s won he’s won one playoff series since he hoisted the trophy in an in an Eastern Conference by the way that’s pretty topheavy and usually if you have a decent regular season you have a very winable first round matchup now the

Important context is there was no Chris Middleton in 2022 and they lost to a Celtics team that I didn’t think they had much of a chance to beat and to giannis’s credit he was amazing in that series and then obviously he missed games in 2023 with an injury that said

He didn’t play well in that Series against Miami and a lot of the same issues that plagued him before he was a champion Rose to the surface he was turning the basketball over a lot he was missing a ton of free throws and then the lack of any sort of reliable

Over-the-top shot whether it’s a hook shot or a little short jumper or whatever it is those were big things that Rose to the surface when they lost to Miami last year since then Nicole joic has overtaken him by some clearly discernable margin I actually think I was actually thinking about this the

Other day I think I think the the lead that joic is yic has over the league has become pretty significant all of a sudden uh when you kind of look around and you start to really parse out the strengths and weaknesses of some of these guys but then you know for Giannis

They go and trade for a Bonafide Superstar guard to help him with all of that stuff so like I want to be clear like if Giannis loses in the first or second round that’s not a good look so like there’s definitely some pressure on

Him and and I would I think we all agree that the Bucks they have the chance they have the potential to win the title and they have the potential to lose in that first or second round they are very much a a like a high floor or high ceiling

Low floor type of team that said none of that even comes close to acknowledging the fact that Giannis is a champion in Jason Tatum is not and when you really dig into it I 100% agree I put in my notes plays in the most talented starting five in the league in my

Opinion he’s about to turn 26 years old here in early March that’s the age where you start to expect a young star to kind of break through and the playoffs and Boston’s going to like run away with the number one overall seed they are 2.5 games up on the second seed right now

And they have an insanely easy remaining schedule their opponents for the remainder of their schedule have only won 45.3% of their games just comically easy and so the other thing that kind of that that kind of is is is showing I would say a point of pretty

Significant pessimism for me one of the biggest discouraging elements of this season from Jason Tatum has been even though he put on all this additional muscle leaning so strongly into the pull-up jump shot and so I wanted to give you guys some numbers because we had a stretch there late December early

January where he had it going and it was like oh is he finally going to break through and this is going to be like the start of what all that hard work was for as Jason Tatum becomes this Dynamic pull-up shooter and then in 10 games in

His last 10 games just 33 for 93 on pull up jump shots just 0.91 points per attempt basically where he’s been for years and then the biggest concerning part there is 93 attempts in 10 games yeah and that that’s 9.3 per game and so here’s the LA here’s the

Last stat that I want to give you guys seven players in the NBA this year have attempted at least 400 pull-up jump shots Jason Tatum 400 at 46.6% effective field goal percentage Anthony Edwards 43 1 on 44.3% effective field goal percentage or another similar issue and that kind of

Goes to a lot of the stuff I’ve talked about with Minnesota in like their their potential to lose a series they shouldn’t lose just because of poor decision-making by their primary shot creators but this is where it gets interesting SGA 440 attempts 53% effective field goal percentage Devin

Booker 441 attempts 52% effective field goal percentage Trey 40 uh 4 59 attempts 52% effective field goal percentage Jaylen Brunson 476 attempts 53% effective field goal percentage Luca donic 560 attempts 51% effective fical percentage you know what’s a point of of commonality between those five names

They’re all guards they none of them are 69ine freak athletes that are just completely jacked like that’s the difference like Shay has good athletic tools but he is not Anthony Edwards like Devin Booker as a two guard is a of the pack athlete if not a little bit below

Average Trey young is not an athletic guard Jaylen Brunson is not an athletic guard LCA donic is a ground bound forward they need to rely on those types of shots and they’re way better at them and Jason Tatum if you look at it that’s half of his shot

Diet he’s going into games in actively hunting and pursuing these shots and he can’t make them at a high enough clip for it to make sense for him to do so and so to me like when we came into this season we all agreed that the number one

Thing that mattered as it pertained to Boston and their ability to win the title was going to be offensive process could they be deliberate enough to to get the right shots consistently enough to win the the against against another team that’s on their tier a team like

Milwaukee a team like Denver a team like the Clippers right and like that to me is just is screaming like he doesn’t get It

  1. Tatum's fatal flaw: Jaylen Brown. Dude shrinks in big games. He's not a #2 option on a championship team. It should bet Tatum, Porzingis, White, Brown, Jrue. White needs to to be initiating more especially late. Brown's game completely falls apart when his shots don't go in, including lapses on defense and over dribbling. Hopefully we trade him in the summer for a disgruntled Luka and every pick we have.

  2. Tatum is a tad unathletic..struggles turning the corner, struggles with contact balance. Combine that with a lack of creativity and average footwork and you have a watered down superstar. The fact that he’s a top 10 player says a lot about the state of the game today. Pierce was better offensively..more complete, more creative, much better footwork.

  3. They are pretty much said – " It's Tatum's fault because the media overrates Jaylen Brown 😂😂😂". If Jaylen plays below average and not god awful they go up 2-0 against the Heat this past year

  4. I think Tatum is a great player, but i don't think he's great enough to lead a team to a title. I think you have to be a top 3 type player, or be in the argument, and history bears that out. Look at the last Finals MVPs over the last decade. With the exception of a young Kawhi and Iguodala all top 3 type players, like Giannis/Steph/Lebron/Jokic/Durant/prime Kawhi. Steph should have won that Finals MVP that Iggy won too if we're being honest.

  5. Tatum has the best team he’s ever had, has the years of experience, in is his prime years, and has a weak eastern conference ( Philly hurt, doc rivers coaching, dame defensive woes) the year is now for Tatum no more excuses. If he wants top be a top 5 player this is the season

  6. The thing that frustrates me about Tatum is the pull up 3 is not the strongest part of his game but it seems to be the thing he leans on the most, especially in end of the game situations. Watching him drive to the basket is mesmerizing. That's where he dominates. Idk if it's Mazzula's coaching, analytics BS, or his own stubbornness about that shot but he's playing away from his strengths and into his weaknesses when he doesn't have too.

  7. He literally had his best playoff run last year until he got hurt in game 7 but the game 7 before he set the record for most points ever

  8. Love Tatum but this is why i say people who have him over Luka is ridiculous! Luka is super clutch in those situations and i trust him and a number of other players when a game is close over Tatum.

  9. completely agree. hes my favorite player ever, and its just so frustrating watching him at times, cause every time he drives, good things happen. but he consistently tries to shoot the three and these pull up jumpshots and it just kills us. the dude has so much talent, and his jump shot would open up even more if he got aggressive and drove.

  10. All of these excuses they give the bucks for their ring but never mention that the nuggets had probably too 5 easiest finals run.

Played an 8 seed in the finals lol

  11. Tatum is a great all around player. Seems like he still is working out when to take over and when to play a supporting role – hes capable of both but its not like its crystal clear whej and where and if he should be completely ball dominant and when he should be just a part of the offense but not play hero ball. Especially in crunch time Jason, and it follows the team, just default to simple playground hero ball and i'll tell you what- that doesnt even work when you have a better go to guy than JT – and JT aint Kobe, he aint even Paul Pierce, or Kawhi or Steph or Luka or Durant or Butler. I'll even take Jalen Brunson in a must score late game situation over Tatum. Whats needed here imo is stronger direction from an experienced hands on veteran coach who will TELL JT and the whole team what play to run and when and who to run the offense through and not just lay back and let the guys figure it out for themselves at the end if close games. And yiu dont just give the ball to Jason and clear out every damn time – maybe sonetimes if hes hot or has a glaring mismatch – but you got experienced top notch point guards to run the offense through you got Porzingas down low you got options you dont have to be predictable and you dont have to ONLY trust JT. And i'll tell you what – if someone else runs the big play or takes the big shot, JT can STILL have value big rebound good pass big defensive play – hes shown that. So stop trying to play hero ball around Jason he CAN be an MVP but not if the best thing we dan come up with is to turn him into Carmelo Anthony

  12. Tatum is a good notch below the top players in the league. Off the top of my head, Joker, Embiid, Luka, Durant, Booker, and Giannis are clearly better. He is somewhere in the next group of a dozen or so players in the NBA. Then you throw in he thinks he shoot the three like Curry, and you make winning it all very difficult.

  13. guys literally saying he had a bad game 7 against the heat last year… he got injured in the second play of the game, look at his record in game 7’s lol, he has to prove it but he’s also 25-26 years old, he got time, this is the first year of this lineup and people was shitting on the kp trade saying that his wizards numbers wouldn’t translate, also talk about the bucks and the nuggets being better before the season, BUT NOW let’s shit on every bad games the celtics have like every other championship team in history didn’t have bad games, this is insane behavior from yall but somehow its tatum’s and boston chocking, can’t figure yall out 😂😂😂😂

  14. Jesus, these kids have no idea what they're talking about. Carson and Logan are the epitome of trying too hard.

  15. I'm sorry but I can't disagree with your more regarding tatums greatness since being drafted in 2017 he has the most playoff wins with 52, thats out of the entire NBA!!! That means something. Saying he comes up short in playoff games when he's had some crazy performances in elimination games is disemgenious to his talent and what he's achieved at 25 already.

  16. Jt needs to drop his 3pt attempts and turn them into drives and post ups. Boston needs to stop this live and die by the 3 off and run a two man game with the jays and kp and get easy looks and 3s from that action.

  17. Giannis didn't play well against the heat last playoffs? He only played 2 games and had 26pts in game 4 and 38 in game 5 playing with a back contusion I'd say he played pretty well considering the circumstances your just a bucks hater it's written all over your face every time you talk about the bucks

  18. tatum hasn't "crumbled in the playoffs" it was the series against the warriors at best (which he was younger than bron vs the mavs in 2011 in and did BETTER and there's no way he was better than bron at that point) and he got hurt against the heat in the beginning of game 7 you can't put that on tatum (a series he outplayed jimmy and was the best player on both teams but jb got outplayed by caleb martin). you can not like his shot selection at times and i'd agree but he's been making the right reads in the clutch and handling pressure/multiple defenders/manipulating defenses great this year which never gets mentioned but anytime the celtics lose it's doomsday. no other player has been under more scrutiny and under such a microscope outside of lebron in his prime, and as much as i love tatum he is NOT the best player in the league yet or arguably the goat so idk why that's been the metric for him the past few years. to say he shrinks in big moments in the playoffs is insane to me 😂😂😂

  19. These guys hate the Celtics and Tatum. Dude has made 4 ECF in 6 seasons. He was THE guy for 2 of those seasons. They’re probably gonna make the ECF again and maybe the Finals. Everybody gets grace except for Tatum.

  20. Tatum is a great player, but I feel like his game has plateaued. Losing the Finals should've pushed him going to that "next level", but nothing has changed.

  21. Tatum gets more flak for being successful as a young player than any player since lebron, I think that’s a good sign to come. He just needs to get over the hunp
