I mean it’s kinda true but if he plays smart for the rest of his career then I think nobody will hate on draymond. His defense versatility really unlocks the team allowing for fast break chances for Curry Kuminga and Klay 3. He’s also been really looking to feed Kuminga which warriors desperately neeeded because they just play weaving for 18 seconds with Kuminga not even touching the ball several possessions in a row sometimes

Draymond has always been a tremendous asset . . . right up to the moments where he becomes a tremendous liability.
Has he finally broken that cycle? It will take a lot more than a few games to prove it. Addicts tend to slip back into self-destructive patterns, and Draymond has been addicted to emotional, unstable outbursts for a long time.

Draymond is clearly a complete dumbass sometimes, but it’s been night and day defensively since he’s gotten back.
I said this a while back that throughout his whole career he causes a +10 defensive rating when he’s on the floor, and that still holds true.
Our defensive rating is 122 without him (by far worst in the league), and 114 with him (top-10). With him absent for so long it still averages out to about a 118 rating, but we’re certainly trending the right way.

Let’s hope he can sustain it for the remainder of the season.
Wigs and JK have been doing better with him it there

Draymond is as much of a generational talent on defense as Steph is on offense. Now offense is much more important than defense so that’s why Steph’s top 10 all time, but it’s not a coincidence that when Draymon’s on the court, they look like a top team again…. Oh no now I have hope again

This has always been the case with Draymond, anyone who thinks he’s not been integral to the Warriors success is insane. In the same vein he’s also been detrimental too, 3-1 suspension, KD leaving, Poole altercation.
And with the games he’s missed this year the Warriors likely get another 4-5 wins had he been there.
It’s just how it goes with Green, you take the good and bad and hope the bad doesn’t outweigh the good.

I already blame him. For last year too.

Blamed for ruining!?!?!? Jesus.

Draymond has always been the second most important warrior on the team excluding Durant and only behind Curry. He pisses me off with his antics and suspensions but there’s no denying his importance.

Good read, there’s some great stuff in here that’s very genuine and regretful from Draymond. You really wouldn’t expect to hear it from someone who’s painted (and generally rightfully so) as a player full of bluster and minimal self-awareness:
> But before the contract was finalized, Green and Lacob had a long conversation. Green’s preseason punch of Jordan Poole had derailed the previous Warriors’ season. Coach Steve Kerr had come out a month before and directly pinpointed that event as the moment everything went haywire. So, before Lacob green-lit the Green commitment (and tax ramifications), he wanted vocal assurance from Green about the expectations attached to it.
> “What I need to be for this organization,” Green said. “The growth I need to show. Helping young guys out. Mentoring. I want to see this organization not only do great while I’m here but after. I’ll be mentioned with this organization forever. And this will be home forever. So you want to see it in a great spot. And I have a direct impact on how that works.”
> The next day, the league nailed him with an indefinite suspension. Green holed up in his Los Angeles area home. Two months into a four-year contract that felt risky on the team side, Green had already broken the pledge to Lacob. During Green’s first days away from the team, Lacob called him. Green saw the name on his phone and froze.
> “I couldn’t answer it,” Green said. “I couldn’t talk to him. I did not talk to him. I didn’t call back. I almost hid. He gave me his word and he stuck by it. **I gave him my word and I’ve let him down. It was probably a little cowardly. Like, I couldn’t face the music.”**
…
> “The only way to really face the music is to go play,” Green said. “To go do what I know how to do, to do what I’m supposed to do, to live up to the commitment (Joe Lacob) made to me. That was one of the toughest things to deal with (during the suspension). I gave him my word. He gave me his word. **He held his up. I’m letting mine down.”**
