Warriors/Hawks Postgame, Steph, Draymond, Podziemski, Coach Kerr Reaction | Feb 3, 2024

Coach of course second game of the backto back um not the results I’m quite sure that you and your teammates won it tonight but can you talk to me about what you seen not only from JK but from Steph uh mainly in the second half 60

Points almost a career high uh talk to me about what you seen from that gentleman oh Steph was incredible I mean what a performance um I just feel so bad for him and for our guys because uh they’re battling obviously we’re short-handed and and um you know backto back and um

You know I thought we really um competed like crazy the whole game and um just couldn’t couldn’t get over the hump but step was um Sublime do you know anything on Wiggins yet uh he he sprained his foot but I don’t know anything beyond

That it’s foot not anle uh I from what I understood from Rick it was his foot um but xrays were negative x-rays negative got you um how big was the kaminga foul out considering you mentioned the depth being an issue yeah the the JK foul out was was um was really

Um it it was important and it was kind of head scratching um but um I I just didn’t didn’t see a foul but that was the call Coach going into the last week before Allstar what do you want your players to focus on just continue continue to compete they’re competing they’re playing

Together just got to keep keep moving keep moving forward thank you Dre of course the second game of a backto back uh tough overtime loss tonight out there um you’ve been a defensive specialist in this year for a long time well respected on the defensive end going up against a

Guy like Trey young can you talk to me about the the matchup issues he brings being a great facilitator in score uh yeah I mean they run a lot of sets where he you know he has the ball most of the game and um you know just kind of put

Him in positions to make decisions uh you know and that’s why he is who he is in this league he’s been doing that really well for a long time now Rond You’ seen your fellow team man and Steph drop 60 tonight we’ve seen 60

So from cat and Luca last week 73 do you think this is a a trend that’s going to happen to where about once a week we’re going to see guys scoring 60 something points uh I mean the game is played at a very fast pace nowadays um so get up and

Down a lot get a lot of shots up and you know you got a lot of great scores in this league so wouldn’t necessarily call it a trend um you know but the the the skill uh the skill is in this league is at an alltime high that’s for

Sure obviously I know he played with Trey I mean played with uh with Steph for a long time your thoughts on this stage in his career playing the game that he had tonight uh dropping I guess it was almost 50 in the second half uh

Yeah I mean you know you kind of it’s crazy cuz you kind of grow accustomed to him having those types of games and types of nights and halves uh you know he can get it going at any time uh but it’s just a testament to his hard work

You know he the the work that he puts in on his body um on a daily basis uh you know in his shows in these moments you know and um just seems like he continues to get better uh which is special at this age uh did you feel like you guys were a

Little fatigued down the stretch or I mean do you think that had anything to do with it uh I mean you know um everybody’s fatigued on the back toback down a stretch uh I think you know and losing wigs the whole second half and then losing JK uh down the stretch was

Tough you know those two guys are our main uh point of attack Defenders you know and so I think losing those two guys um you know made it tougher and you know the fatigue shows a little bit more um I think with those two guys out what

Uh you you got a little time with Trace tonight what is what type of Dimension uh does he provide and and and how does that help you in particular uh I got to get used to playing with him because you know he he does a good job of protecting

The r and I still myself sliding over and he’ll be there you know and so kind of got to build that feel and that trust uh but Rim protection um it’s a good rebounder and then you know a lot threat uh you know or you you know drop the

Ball off to him in the paint and he can get the ball up quick and finish you know so I think he brings a different dimension to this team that we otherwise don’t have yeah I mean the identity that you guys are kind of trying to build

Seems to be a lot of you at Center but are there nights or even moments within the game where you’re thinking that like you know having an extra big out there could can help uh yeah I mean you know it depends on what the game calls for uh

You know and whatever that is we trust Steve to make those decisions he usually make the right one what do you think was kind of deciding factor in overtime uh they got stops and we didn’t uh think they stretched it out to maybe 11-point lead um start overtime and it’s

Pretty hard when it’s only 5 minutes to you know come back from 11 point deficit and so I think just a make sure of us fouling and um you know not making shots on the other end is probably will led to the loss when Steph has a night like

This you know 60 uh and you obviously lose uh is there I mean is it added layer of like kind of stings to in some ways kind of waste what he did of course um you know he’s the best you point guard to ever played the game and to see

Him have 60 uh and be super efficient and you know not get the calls like other superstars getting the league um you know it’s pretty impressive um only six free throws and 60 points um so that was amazing to see but you always want to you know come out with a victory in

Those situations because you know you only get to be around it for so long when you see him s 60 points how do you focus in on the game and not get caught up in being a fan for me honestly just rebounding your defense um when

He’s in that mode you know you kind of know that he’s probably going to shoot the shot and so for me it was just kind of rebounding and you know playing Team defense and how we could get stops and get him get him the ball back um and I

Think that’s kind of the mindset we all kind of have just like how can we get him open and let him keep flowing the way he does uh Steph obviously not the results in which you wanted tonight but still had a moment to make NBA history you’ve

Told you’ve tied Kobe Bryant rather uh as the second player to score 60 points over the age at 35 don’t want to date you or anything like that a second game of a backto back what what type of Zone were you in tonight you know trying to get your team

This Victory and having such a phenomenal performance uh that’s pretty cool I didn’t know that is that that was his last game yep that’s special granted we lost um just one of those things you kind of feel as you go knowing we’re on a back to back coming in late trying to

Uh you know do whatever you can to keep our team in it just make shots take what the defense gives you force the issue if you feel it I think in that fourth quarter we’re very decisive on just trying to get me you know good looks creating some confusion thankfully a

Bunch of them went in I wish that last one would would have went down had a good look at it but it’s frustrating obviously not coming away with the win knowing a couple plays here a couple plays there it’s a different outcome and you know we’re celebrating individual performance like

That but just adds to the frustration of our season Steph you had another 20po quarter that’s up to 45 now the most in NBA history how do you determine when to just take over and then when to facilitate there’s a kind of a subconscious feel of the game though

And you can be more aggressive to get to your spots and you might not see as much resistance and it’s just a matter if you make or miss the rest of it just feeling the flow of the game and um I think at a certain point when you

Have you you hit a couple and you get good looks at The Rim you’re going to kind of come back to those with the mindset of being aggressive to score and you know there are certain games you know we don’t really have we didn’t have much going Lester played well uh shot

The ball well uh but from three like we were struggling a little bit as a team so there is a certain point when you see the score see the fourth quarter like let’s let’s let’s go stepa two questions what do it mean to you uh when you come out on an

Opposing field and uh see fans start to turn actually cheer for you as you do what you do and second of all how’s your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ helped you as you navigate through a tremendous career uh being a dad uh being a parent

And also now uh moving into PJ golf as well um my faith it guides me and everything it’s not really a result on you know what happens on the court are just blessed to have this stage to shine a light and you know hopefully be some type of inspiration to anybody that

Watches me knowing I’ve been giving some amazing gifts and trying to use them to the best of my ability whatever I do um and to your to your point about being in an opposing Arena and having the turnout that we do and the support you know it’s

Easy to find energy you know with that type of response and I never take any of that for granted knowing you know the ball will stop balancing at some point and this is definitely special something that uh you know ultimate gratitude every time I get the step fo on the floor do

You I mean does it feel like it was way did tonight what you did in some ways I mean is that too strong a way to put it or you can describe it however you want I any game um that you have like even way back when I first had

54 and in the garden we lost it’s that’s the only feeling that you really worry about obviously it’s it’s a fun ride when you’re shooting the ball the way that you are and trying to you know get to the finish line and like I said have

A have a w to show for it um you know if that last Runner goes in it’s a different story but um it sucks to not have something you know to show for it especially the way we all fought given everything we had in the tank

Um you know with with with the back to back and everything that we we went through how bigger picture where you at right now with with like where you guys are uh I mean it’s tough because I mean you look out we had we’ve had some of the guys out and kind of

Revolving door you know wigs goes out of halftime JK fouls out fourth quarter I think at one point it’s really cool to see a different look I was out there with Trace Lester G and Brandon BJ jimsky like if those guys are taking steps and building confidence I’m pretty sure if

Anybody asked would you be out there with those four guys at some point in in the regular season you probably would have said no but we still had a chance to win like that’s the challenge of this year is it was a entirely different fiveman unit that we had never seen you

Know all season so you’re trying to adapt and um and and allow that useful energy to to help us you know try to get over the hump so it’s been the nature of our season all year um what it was supposed to look like hasn’t really materialized for consistent stretches

But again that’s the you can only be in the present that’s the challenge that we have to make this season salvageable uh know we’re still four games under 500 you know I’m I’m still motivated just got to you know stick with it you had the quote

A couple weeks ago kind of the insanity quote that was taken as kind of you know you may be indicating you think a trade may may need to happen I I mean it’s deadlines you know nearing at that at this point where I mean do you think

Something I mean the rest of that quote was it’s up to us as players to perform play at the level that we’re supposed to so that those conversations and decisions maybe a little easier um and obviously I’m not a GM I’m not a in that position where I’m getting asked that

Every single day my job is to go out there perform um the closer you get to it it’s a nature NBA you can’t be naive and act like you know calls aren’t being made wherever it is but for us as players in the locker room you have to

Be able to control what you can control um and until it’s you know said otherwise or decisions are made like it’s up to us to go out and and perform and and hold our ground as a team that’s you know a legitimate team that can win and if you’re not

Then you approach you approach things differently um when the opportunity presents himself Steph um you got an opportunity to work out with Trey over the summer and um just what are your thoughts on what you’ve seen him as a player grow and of course the city of Atlanta they

Say that he’s been snub as an Allstar just your thoughts on his growth and um him being left off the All-Star team he’s Contin to get better perform his numbers um you know Allstar is there’s a lot that goes into it from the votes from fans Med coaches it’s a

Competitive element you know at each position trying to you know be selected every year I told him after the game it’ll all come back to him if he continues to approach the game the right way play with joy don’t let it build any type of resentment um because he’s not

Acknowledged I’m sure there’s a couple injuries on the East and it might not be the way that he wanted to get in but he’ll be there in Indiana being represented um and like I said if you continue to approach the game the right way if you continue to work at your

Craft you continue to do what he’s doing it’ll come back to him um my first year or the year before I first made it you get that snub tag it’s kind of like a chip on your shoulder and it’s a motivator um he can use it you know that

That energy but I’m sure he’ll be there last one Sam uh circling back to Lester for a second how have you seen his game mature recently you know he’s getting an opportunity to play and you saw tonight he plays with ultimate confidence uh he can shoot the hell out of

Ball he’s taking defensive assignments and you know that one-on-one matchup serious and trying to impact the game that way using his energy in the right right direction um he played amazing tonight played amazing yesterday you know taking what’s what’s there for him uh and just playing with ultimate

Confidence however many minutes he’s out there whatever he’s asked to do so it’s uh it’s great to see guys rewarded for their their patience and their hard work behind the scenes that nobody really you know gets to see great thank you

  1. Klay is officially weak as a mf he can’t provide shit but a few 3’s 🥷🏾 every one shoot 3’s !!!

  2. it wasn’t just klay a bad shooting that pissed me off and lost us the game it was stupid stupid shot selection forcing awful attempts for no reason he’s so bad

  3. is he a "coach" though? i mean, a "coach" makes changes to best suit his teams' abilities…….steve kerr is too busy with social justice, and stripping americans of their 2nd amendment rights to worry about actually building a team, at least not till he has a team that's OP af…….he needs KD

  4. I can’t believe not one person could even score 20 points to help curry. 19 mins only 2 points for wigs. Not a single point for looney. Klay shot 20 percent. Pods can’t hit wide open shots. Kuminga shooting instead of attacking the rim. The team is just terrible.

  5. Klay killed the Warriors with so many missed shots! TJD should have been utilized more but the problem is Kerr who still doesn't trust him and stays loyal to his old players and back to his old 3 guards rotations that sucked! Kerr should be replaced at the earliest or the season is lost!

  6. Kerr is incredible. Giving Klay 35min playing time that hardly play defense and average 2-13 catch and shoot 3s. What a waste!

  7. Gotta admit, I used to laugh at people when they say Klay should be benched After today's game though, I think Pods is more valuable than Klay. Feel bad for Klay but its probably time to bench him. He could be more effective as a bench player.

I hope wigs is ok, we need his D. GP2 and Moody are needed too. Team defense is not very good lately.

  8. If you find that you are not scoring why not give something else to the game. So Klay how about some defense or assists or steals? Perform.

  9. Ever since klay said he don’t care GSW fan I was done . Without fan klay wouldn’t make any money… klay has big egos ….

  10. There's only one guy holding this team back and it's not Kerr. It's Klank. It's pretty obvious that Kerr was trying to convince Klank to come off the bench during their "heart-to-heart talk" not too long ago. The only problem is that Klank is refusing to come off the bench because he is in his contract year. It's mind-blowing that Klank rejected a 2-year $48 million dollar contract at the beginning of the year. That was more than generous considering his play has regressed drastically in the last few years (ESPECIALLY ON DEFENSE). Good luck getting another max from another SUCKER GM. This guy literally went from Splash Bro to Ass, Bro.
