Should the Detroit Pistons move Cade Cunningham to small forward?

Should the Detroit Pistons move Cade Cunningham to small forward?

Great question debuck actually was in a group chat talking about this uh you know should Ivy be the primary battle handle over Kade it seems he gets more players involved and not just standing around waiting for a shot I think the biggest thing and I I Want To

Tread carefully when I say this I never know who’s watching um when Kate has the ball in his hands I’ve noticed this maybe you guys can comment if you’ve noticed it too when Kate Cunningham has the ball in his hands it seems like everyone is just

Standing waiting for him to make a play or make a move and it’s stagnant like there’s no you know player movement there’s no Cuts I’ve notic that excuse me a lot with Kade with Ivy ivy plays at a much faster Pace than K and I think we all understand that

That’s part of Ivy’s game is just you know transition speed acceleration you could arguably move Kate Cunningham to small forward if you wanted to I saw a lot of people talking about this like why can’t Kade Cunningham be or Jason Tatum why Kade why can’t Kade Cunningham just be that

Scoring threat that we need we don’t need Kade to play make he could just be our guy to get us 20 points a game and Ivy could run the show um I think there’s a reality where that could work I think there’s also reality where Kaden Ivy

Split the time whoever’s hot that night take the ball I think there’s a lot of solutions but there’s also a lot of problems with that too um that’s why I’m so high on both of them because they’re so they’re so versatile B um if if you if you just

Want to have put Kade in that like Jason Tatum role you can he’s such a versatile player like Kade can play one through three you know he’s 66 he could be that guy where you need a bucket give it to Kade uh you know you have Ivy run the

Show I don’t know there that that’s why it’s it’s so unique and I kind of get upset when I see people saying like they can’t coexist together because we don’t know we don’t know yet if they can coexist together I think you have to experiment with lineups and see what

Works because the the beautiful thing about Jaden Ivy debuck in cave Cunningham is they’re not onedimensional in a sense where jadeen ivy can only play point guard and Jaden ivy can play shooting guard too and point guard Kade Cunningham could play point guard through small forward I think you have

To experiment with lineups you have to experiment with what works to try to make them successful and surround them with perimeter shooting veteran players and guys that can defend a little bit um but that it’s a really great question I know it’s probably not the the answer

You wanted to hear but like it it wouldn’t really hurt to see if you know Kate can play some small forward you know give him the ball let him you know just focus on scoring versus you know facilitating and stuff like that but um that’s just kind of been my takeway

With it just like why not just try it what do you have to lose like really to me I think this is just another Development [Applause] [Applause] Season

This week on Pistons Talk Podcast, Anthony was answering questions from viewers and they were discussing should the Detroit Pistons use Cade Cunningham in the Jayson Tatum role and just have him be a primary option to score the basketball.

  1. I agree with everything you said. I've been saying after Cade's rookie year I like him better at the 2. And Ivey because of his speed I like him at the 1 more. But definitely doesn't hurt to try stuff.

  2. After that last lost against the Wizards, I've been more open to the idea of having Ivey as the main ballhandler and moving Cade to SF.

  3. Tatum plays majority of his mins at 4. It's no way Cade can play the 4. I'ma throw a different lineup out there. Have Sasser be our 1, Cade our 2, Ivey off the bench.

The most frustrating thing about Cade is that teams blizz him so fast that it's annoying. He has to do WAY to much on offense. Teammates gotta start slashing fast enough.

  4. This was an extremely too safe way of saying "the reality is that we win more games with Ivey as the primary ball handler Cade or no Cade, but the reality also is that Monty thinks Cade is God and thinks Ivey is trash, and that Monty doesn't seem to be very good at recognizing patterns, or is too stubborn to admit when his philosophy is wrong for the group of guys we have."

  5. i agree!!! what i cant understand is under coach casey we played way more competitive n sound basketball while we were in complete tank mode…last yr cade gets injured and we played way better ball while we went out of the way to lose games for wemby sweepstakes…this yr we have cade, ivey we get a really good draft w auser n sasser and were in completely horrible….MONTY must GO!!!

  6. I used to be concerned with Cades turnovers as a primary ball handler. I went to look at Luka, James Harden, and Lebrons turnover to assist ratio and it’s the same as Cades. I personally think Cade is a wing but it honestly doesn’t matter. Whoever has the ball the most is going to turn it over. It’s inevitable.

  7. It seems like every game Cade is forced to sit out, the Detroit Pistons have great competitive games. I believe they average more WINS this season without him in the lineup vs him being on the floor. That's a huge SOMETHING for Tom, Troy, & Monty to look deeper into & make the necessary changes for the teams success

  8. They cant co exist at their current positions. You just want them to exist because youve drafted them.

Having good players doesnt mean they work as a team. The league is full of teams with good players who arent winning championships.

  9. What does moving Cade to the 3 do? As the primary scorer, who is going to be responsible getting him the ball? Does this move just further make evident the holes in this roster, i.e. lack of shooting?

  10. Ivey is better at the point with his speed, cade is a shooting guard his mid range and three point shooting and post game !! Monty is not playing to players strength !!

  11. then where does bogdanovic go? fact is one of ivey or cade needs to be traded because they cant co-exist period

  12. The Pistons should Move Cade Cunningham. Punt him to some other franchise, let them figure out what position he can be played at and how much money to extend him for this summer. Cade is not going to magically figure out how to become a passable defender at any position, and showcasing him for his predestined max extension just stunts an otherwise typical lottery team roster.

If Cade and Wiseman were moved for Jerami Grant the Pistons would have a defined near-all star on a reasonable 30M salary to get a known expected return when he gets flipped later after spending time helping the Pistons youth learn actual nba basketball habits. The Pistons would just be a run of the mill lottery team with reasonable ways to measure progress instead of Historically Inept.

  13. The pistons are having the same dilemma as the mavs. Irving should be the point and luka should be the 3. Instead, on most nights. They still have Luka at the 1 and irving at the 2. I dont understand why both teams dont follow bostons lead. Your best player is gonna bring up the ball on crunch time anyway. Joker, embid, Pablo, james, durant, leonard have all brought the ball up the court in crunch time and neither of them are point guards.

  14. Made videos about Cade moving to Small Forward.all season. Guessing he needs to lose a lot more games to realize it himself. Tired of the "Same Old Blindness".
