[Lane] When the Lakers interest in Dejounte Murray became public he was a 39% 3pt shooter & career 34%. He’s now dropped to 36.8% & is 1-18 over his last 3 games, all ATL wins.

I have been saying this entire time that one half of a season shooting above average from distance was not enough evidence to say he could do it consistently with the Lakers. His entire career until this year, he has been somewhere between horrid and solidly below average.

This team cannot afford a non spacing guard like Murray alongside LeBron and AD. Better player than D’Lo he is, for sure, but D’Lo fits this team better. This trade is a bad idea.

If it was a Dlo for Murray trade straight up I’d do it but he’s not worth all we’d have to give up

  2. We don’t want Murray for his shooting. As long as he’s league average or better, his defense/athleticism/dribble penetration is a clear need for this team.

People also need to realize, this team isn’t a single player away from being an elite 3pt shooting team nor will it ever be one.

If Murray is an average shooter in a small market in Atlanta with little to no pressure. What do you think will happen if Murray is in the biggest market in LA with championship aspirations?? Im pretty sure if we traded for Murray his 3 point percentage would plummet so it’s not worth the risk imo. Especially with the trade assets we would have to give up.

Here y’all go lol. Shooting usually balances out around 700 attempts. Murray is around 37% for his last 700 dating back to last season.

He is more than passable from beyond the arc while offering so much more offensively than just shooting, unlike DLo.

He’s a good player, if you can get him for Dlo then do it, but if you have to give up anything more than that you’re overpaying. He’s athletic and has a good mid-range game. He can beat his guy off the dribble, but he’s a taller Dennis Schroeder in my mind, you’re going to lose the spacing and playmaking of Dlo. It’s a trade off. I think just for this season, I feel like they have to make the trade just to get Bron energized if nothing else, but at the same time, is he really who you want to invest in for the next 4 years is the question.

Did we not see dlo get his ass played off the floor last night? Cause I thought we did.

  7. Public-Product-1503

Sure but if you watch Murray play he’s guarded from
    3 and he’s lethal
In midrange he was a big part of those wins n gives us an elite long two guy we don’t have in ckutch .

Tho I assume he’s close to league average shooter to slightly better from 3, ekite midrange and thst wil work.

We made it work with Schroeder – Murray’s a better shooter then him . Biggger better rebounding defender n steals etc better passer too. Murray gives us the good parts of what Schroeder did. But without the weaknesses. No he’s not a better 3 ball then Dlo but that’s literally it- he’s a monster in the midrsnge n he literally won the hawks game vs the warriors late once they gave him the ball with clutch midrange bucket after bucket ( 50% midrange is elite of elite n he can generate that look over any defence). Plus he’s a guy I think is better vs strong defence .

I do think if they got Murray they should upgrade the 2/3 3nD wise. But we’ll see. Also you have to think we can buy low on Murray – give him the ball more let him be pg n if we did want a star s package of Murray reaves n 2 frps od strong

Meh lebron was like 0-10 at one point. We should trade for him but not by giving up dlo or reaves.

  9. nottherealstanlee

If you watched Dlo for a almost a full season now and haven’t realized his shooting and passing isn’t enough to off set his ridiculously poor defense and rebounding, idk what to tell you. I like Dlo but it is what it is.

If anything this is a good sign. Shows that DJ can contribute to winning basketball even if his shot isn’t falling. Good for a contending team.

  11. Temporary_Captain585

He may or may not be a upgrade over dlo at this point. Perhaps better on D but could be worse offensive fit on the lakers. Lakers don’t lose games cause their D, there losing games because they don’t have a take charger scorer esp with a aging Lebron. You know with AD he’s great on D but average offensive.

  12. untraiined

im willing to bet dlo will be worse than that when his slump comes

  13. BodegaDaddy

hawks signed him for defense it didn’t work, his shooting went down and yeah he has dribble penetration but he’s been horrible getting to the rim lately too. DLO is our guy. playmaker and a shot creator.

  14. LudwigNasche

Dlo shot .133 from the distance against Denver and before stans talk about the Warriors series, he shot .312 against the Dubs.

In playoffs Murray is better than Dlo at everything and in regular season we will have a backcourt player able to attack the basket something we are missing badly.

There is absolutely no rational reason to keep Dlo over Murray if Atlanta accept the trade. Age, contract situation, defense, offense, Murray is a flat out better option.

  15. needmoresleeep

The Hawks have also had Luka go for 73 and Curry go for 60. If that happened to the Lakers, the fans would be calling Dlo and Reaves bums on defense.

  16. Apollo611

I can’t wait until this trade deadline is over

  17. Most of you have never seen him play and it shows

  18. lambchop516

Our defensive scheme is not that hard. Fight over screens and funnel the ball into AD. That’s not his assignment defensively in Atlanta

  19. I strongly dislike the idea of adding DeJounte, he’s just D’Lo but with skillset flipped. Having a complete zero threat from outside will not help when we already are ass at shooting, and his defense is pretty overrated too.

  20. TheAnonymousOpinion

Damn, plus the Lakers tax he’ll probably drop to like 20% over here lol

  21. big_biscuitss

He was never the answer to this teams issues. Wouldn’t trade anything for him.

  22. RavenLaker248

The problem is D’Lo’s defense or lack there of is going to keep him off the court in the playoffs so his offense really doesn’t matter big picture. Give me Dejounte.

  23. srkfan123

To be fair, I know DLo is obviously a better shooter but DLo is shooting 29% over his last 3 games

  24. SPMrFantastic

Damn his percentage went down just by association to us imagine what would’ve happened once he actually joined the team

  25. I_RIDE_SHORTSKOOLBUS

Guy says sample size is too small then uses even smaller sample size to make point

  26. dongerlord456

If we get Murray, the spacing next to Bron, AD, and Vando is going to be disgusting. Prince will play even more and people will hate that.

  27. ramz11lar

Dang, the Lakers tax kicking in at the mere possibility of his arrival
