Bucks install, then execute, new defense ‘to an exact T’ in comeback win over Mavericks

Luka just 4 of 10 from the field, including 0-for-3 from 3-point distance in the second half after MKE rolls out its trapping defense that it installed just a day earlier… Good piece Eric Nehm.

I liked that it seemed to specifically target getting the ball out of Luka’s hands.  It also put Giannis in more one on one situations defensively. He got beat a couple times, but it ran Luka and other guys off the three point line and made the offense uncomfortable even if they beat him because he doesn’t give up on the play. Also, Luka wasn’t getting a superstar whistle versus Giannis.

This also seems like it would have been good to use versus the Heat last year. Give Butler different looks and/or get him to give up the ball. Make Spoelstra do a counter.

I don’t think the D is a cure-all but definitely something that will come in handy in certain situations. Just give the opponents something else to think about and prepare for.

I know Giannis doesn’t like playing center, but our best lineups come playoff time will probably with him at the 5 (1 Lillard, 2 Beasley, 3 Khash, 4 Jae, 5 Giannis) which allows us to switch/trap/or play drop.

Someone smarter than me explain how this is different than Griffin’s attempt at blitzing and trapping bc it obviously worked this time.

Was it just a little less aggressive on the ball so recovering was easier?

Or was it just no Brook on the floor so the trapping was easier with giannis as the biggest buck?

Paywall. But I like the Middleton comments at the beginning. As a fan, I sometimes forget what the players go through with a new coach.

r/MkeBucks after a very average start to the season: “you can’t make assumptions based upon 30 games. It’s still early”

r/MkeBucks after good defense in one game: “Everything is fixed! We’re back to being awesome!”

But I thought we were Dunning-Kruger doomers when observing the AG defense didn’t work??

  7. Thank God r/mkebucks doesn’t get to make coaching decisions.
