[Cato] The Dallas Mavericks are most interested in a tall four, ideally with two-way ability and solid spot-up shooting, several league sources tell The Athletic.

> Kuzma is a good starter, not a game-changing piece. The Mavericks need to acquire more players like him in addition to adding someone who can be the team’s third-best player.

> But he’s probably too good-but-not-great to warrant the first-rounder it might take.

  1. Sounds like Doe or PJ? Or smokescreen to lower price tag for Kuz

  2. If we could somehow get Herb Jones I’d be happy. Seems like we will get nothing of value done by trade deadline

I like Kuzma. Solid all around with a good contract. He’s not a game changer but we don’t have the assets for that anyway. Dunno what we’ll have to trade for him tho. Would something like Grant+Holmes+1st be enough? I kinda doubt it.

Someone who’s tall, can shoot, can play offense, and can also play defense. Is that so much to ask??

  5. Jolly-Mortgage4

With Exum being cooked with injuries the Mavs do need another playmaker like Kuzma. Can’t expect Luka to play 45 minutes every game and create every single play.

  6. Oh I could tell this the athletic too. It’s pretty obvious I would say

  7. So is everyone in the league?

Kuzma is not a solid two way player though

I think kuzma is the overwhelming obvious move

He just has it all in terms of what the mavs need

Championship experience, perfect 3rd option, solid defender if he’s giving effort, solid playmaker, provides shooting at the 4, locked up long term on a good contract

Im fully of the belief that this is not “this fit isn’t the best but it’s the best available” anymore, he makes sense long term and id definitely get it done

We have omax Hardy and green as young players to work with to make the deal happen, surely two of those 3 with salary matching gets it done without having to include picks

  9. How has Tim Cato been writing about the team for years on the athletic and he has like no sources? The whole piece is evaluating fan trade ideas. His only ever sourced article was that dumbass haralabos voulgaris post that he did at the request of Donnie Nelson. Like bruh mark cuban said this shit in an interview two months ago

This seems a somewhat realistic idea :

Mavs get – PJ Washington, Richards, Avdija

Wizards get – Holmes, Hardy, 27FRP (DAL)

Hornets get – Green, G. Williams

If they really want to spend their only FRP it should be on a talented young wing like Deni , imho .

So pretty much the same thing we’ve needed since Dirk retired.

  12. So an All Star with one FRP and two Seconds. We might as well be as delusional as other teams.

Sounds like a PG13 type of player. Mavs can play the Moneyball scenario. Just re-create him with multiple (cheaper) players.
