Other tidbits from Doug Smith’s column today:

    >Brown also has enough game — and a championship pedigree from last season in Denver — that he could bring a legitimate return. It may take attaching a future draft pick in a trade, but the Raptors do have two extras this June and future selections they could use to sweeten the pot to add a player to their young core.

    >But complicating the matter is the one year and nearly $11 million (U.S.) left on his contract. Teams might shy away from that number, especially with Boucher not being used, and any return would be minimal.

    >Gary Trent Jr. becomes a free agent in the summer and could be on the move. He’s got undeniable NBA skill — making 50 per cent of his shots from three-point range in almost six attempts a game since Jan. 1 — and could help a team. However, getting back anything of substance for what might be a three-month rental is unlikely.

    >As with Brown, though, moving Trent to free up time for the likes of Dick and Jordan (Nwora) is in the team’s long-term interest.

    >Schröder has one year left at a more-than-manageable salary (the full mid-level cap exception of about $12.5 million) and might be attractive to a contender looking for guard depth.

    >Losing him would leave a gaping hole in the Raptors backcourt and unless they could get a guard on an expiring contract to free up future money, it’s not worth pursuing.

  2. I’ll be sad if Chris gets traded, nobody hustles like that guy. He’ll do well on a contender though

Let the guy play at least one last game as a Raptor.

I’m cool with it. He’s 31 and has the basketball IQ of a sack of bricks. Time to move on and find an upgrade.

Maybe we can trade him to Utah for THT who seems like he’s also in the dog house in Utah. Maybe we even trade them the 2024 1st (Thunder) for the 2025 1st (Wolves) since they don’t have a 2024 pick but have 3 in 2025. Actually shocked to find out they don’t have a pick in 2024 (owed to OKC go figure).

Would make sense for Utah if they plan to cash in on Olynyk this deadline. Boucher seems like he would fit what they’re doing there with all their energy guys while THT brings in some playmaking that Darko likes.

Boucher is a hustle guy who would be a depth piece for a contender. OKC is looking for size and he could be a cheap addition.

  7. Raptorsthrowaway1

Love his hustle and his story. But at 31 and with his consistency issues, it would be best to get off his money next year as we are rebuilding

Boucher is best played in small doses. Man will give you his all in the time he gets, but starts to make too many mistakes the longer he’s out there. I will miss him if he’s traded.

GTJ needs to be re-signed for 12-15M Nwora is also an expiring and aren’t they both the same age? Just seems like having more perimeter threats would only be a benefit.

Shame. He’s a good role player and will help any team with playoff aspirations.

Rotations typically get shortened to 8 guys in the playoffs, sometimes 9, and I think he’d be a great 9th guy for a legit contender. He’s the type of guy that could swing momentum at a critical juncture of a playoff game just based on his hustle. He’s not going to be a long term minutes-eater that’ll put up numbers consistently, but I think he can be a depth piece for the right team.

He actually plays hard and up to his role (bench). Honestly he should be in the line up. I’m just hoping he’s been out of rotation because they’re saving his trade value. He deserves a spot on a team that can use him

Boucher is a frustrating player. But I’m very aware of how valuable he is one a good team, as the fifth option. He’d fit in perfectly with that clippers team.

He has his doghouse moments every season
