[McMenamin] D’Angelo Russell: “I can’t control that my contract makes sense to be traded, so, just play.” When asked about waiving his implied no-trade clause this summer, he said: “I just thought it made sense. … I know what the requirements are to be successful here are.”

Probably the best answer he could’ve given

i mean it’s obvious his contract was set up to be traded…despite how many people are in denial

I don’t mind keeping DLo but Mintz needs to be willing to work with the FO on a fair contract this offseason.

  4. I’m watching him say this rn. Damn y’all fast asf

  5. Tall_Succotash

Dlo has remained professional even knowing this

I love D’lo but the 4th quarter and the panic scramble is why I just want more of a downhill point guard to lead the way as opposed to depending on LeBron for every pick and roll.

The first three quarters of D’lo were awesome, he hits shots, he plays loose as hell he gets the assists but when that 4th quarter comes and the game tightens up sometimes you just don’t know which D’lo you’re going to get.

And truthfully LeBron is old as hell, you can’t depend on him to be your downhill player at the end of the game every time either.

I’ve been putting it out there but if the Hawks are still looking for expiring contracts and Orlando wants a point guard that is there 4th best player possibly look into doing a trade like this:

Orlando Receives: D’lo, Clint Capela, 2 Lakers 2nd round picks

Atlanta receives: Jonathan Isaac(expiring next year), Gary Harris (expiring this year), Markelle Fultz (expiring this year)

    Los Angeles receives: Dejounte Murray

It’s an absolute pipe dream but depending on team goals this does make sense to me.

Dlo has handled his second stint here so well. Whatever happens I will be sad to see him go if he’s moved

  8. If this was your last game, I’ll always be a fan dlo. Gonna tune in wherever he goes next and root hard for him. Wish it didn’t have to be this way

  9. I might be leading with my ❤️ rather then my 🧠 but I wanna keep dlo man if not just for the vibes 😭

  10. ProblematicAndCrazy

God damn it I do NOT want this guy traded

Was probably his last game as a Laker. Goodbye DLO 🙁

If he could play defense, he could stay but Denver will pick on him and Reaves all game long on Thursday. He’ll get mentally taken out of it and then be sat in the fourth. Doing it against the depleted Knicks is one thing, doing it against the defending champs is entirely another.

Once all the emotional attachment to Dlo settles down, its just facts. Kinda sucks right now, but a trade is way better than letting him walk in the offseason.

    Send it, Rob

He can be infuriating to watch on defense but there’s no doubt he brings a huge element on the offensive end. He’s also cheering his guys on from the bench and not complaining about anything including being benched in the closing minutes. Have nothing but good things to say about him

  15. darklighthumid

There is still a chance he stays if the trade partner plays too much of a hard ball.

  16. Unless there’s a great deal to be had I hope he isn’t moved just to be moved.

That Nets package is ass and not worth losing him for.

  17. lolxddavid

I really don’t want him gone but if he’s gone it better not be for Dinshittie

  18. frankietown

I’ll never forget watching him drop 40 when Kyrie dropped 40 when Lebron Cavs came to visit us.

I really thought we had such a solid young core back then.

  19. As of the latest, we are now in open communication with ATL. Seems like Dlo is in play. But, there’s a collective camp that is reluctant on parting ways with Dlo with the way he’s been playing lately. If it’s not for Murray or someone of his caliber, there’s a strong chance Dlo stays.

  20. bigbadbernard

I hope for DLo to stay. Every team needs a vibe guy like him.

  21. Can someone explain the second part to me? What is this “implied no trade clause” and how exactly did he waive it?

  22. Musicfan637

Keep everyone and get Cam Thomas from Brooklyn for something minor, he only makes $2.2 mil. Using the nba trade machine he ups our win total by four for any of our low budget guys. Even trading Prince for him ups our win total by 4.

  23. I was good when the Lakers drafted Dlo… thought he had good potential. Then he kinda did some stupid sht when he was here (N.Young having to deal with some BS). And he kinda started becoming a bit diva-ish.

But he’s matured. I love how he’s handled himself since he’s been back. He wants to be a Laker.

He’s won me over, and he’s saying all the right things to the media. Hope they don’t ship him for Murray, because that’s not going to help right this ship.

We need him, he had a bad month and everyone turned on him. He’s made for LA, let’s keep him at home!
