A) Wemby has a better D-DPM than any recent big man DPOY candidate did at his age
B) Wemby already has a higher D-DPM than the DPOY from last year has ever had

🤷 Wemby being Wemby things.
It appears that Victor Wembanyama’s defensive trajectory is headed towards outer space https://t.co/i3ApjALSFb

Keep in mind that this is mostly a box score stat, since the on/off component doesn’t have enough sample size yet
So good. The creator of DARKO even came out and said “Wemby is breaking our model, so he’s good but maybe not quite *this* good…”
IMO he’s just that good. Despite lineup experiments, ankle management, South Texas allergies, etc. he’s a truly generational player in the making.
Along with all the amazing box-score stats, the Spurs defense improves by 9.5 points per 100 possessions with Wemby on the floor vs. when he’s not. The difference between the 2nd-best defense and the 27th-best defense is 9.3 points per 100 possessions (stats from Cleaning the Glass). Game-changer.
