[Katz] The New York Knicks have spoken with the Toronto Raptors about Bruce Brown and with the Detroit Pistons about Alec Burks. Neither trade would include Quentin Grimes. Talks with the Atlanta Hawks about Dejounte Murray have been “informal.”

> The Knicks have spoken with the Toronto Raptors about Bruce Brown, league sources have said, but Grimes hasn’t been part of those conversations. Instead, discussions have centered around Evan Fournier and draft compensation for Brown, who could eat innings like a Liván Hernández impersonator.

> The Knicks also have dipped and dabbled with the Detroit Pistons’ Alec Burks, according to league sources, who also would not command Grimes in return. The Athletic’s James Edwards III has reported that Detroit is “leaning toward keeping” Burks, a veteran on an expiring contract who has fans in New York including Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau.

> Efforts for bigger names haven’t been abundant. The Knicks have chatted with the Atlanta Hawks about Dejounte Murray, but their conversations have been informal.

  1. I am not a fan of throwing Evan and draft comp for Brown

Alec Burks rather get on buyout as it is a pretty complicated trade to make. If the Pistons want to keep him, no big loss there as I imagine thibs getting comfortable with a guy like that and giving him more minutes than he should. Not sure if he was the same bucket he was a couple of years ago here

  2. I feel like it’s gonna be Brown for 2nds. A good rotation player is better than none at all, and the contract is good for what we want to do. Meh.

If it’s gonna be Brown or nothing I guess just do it? I dunno, sucks it doesn’t sound like Brogdon is happening.

  4. Burks was put through hell with his time with the knicks, time to bring him back for a taste of the good days.

When you save that Liván Hernandez reference for the right moment.

  6. Fournier and two seconds for Brown, let’s go.

I’d prefer Burks over Brown. Brown is the better player but Burks is what the team needs. Can knock down shots and create his own and for others. Not on a star level of course but off the bench for 15 minutes a game? Sign me up.

  8. The good teams improve for the playoffs. Moving a dude who sits in the bench in Evan Fournier and maybe some second rounders in favor of Bruce Brown is a trade you absolutely make during a playoff push.

I think people underestimate his playmaking ability. I definitely think he could bolster our bench unit quite a bit and take some playmaking responsibilities away from McBride and Hart

Let’s bring Alec Burks back home. As a starter he was cheeks but as a back up PG he was very effective.

Been watching Brown play and he is underwhelming. Murray will likely kill our chemistry.

I need Fournier’s bum ass off this team already. Such a waste of cap.

First off solid Livian hernandez reference

Second, the only issue I have with Brown is he’s been kinda terrible in some Toronto games I saw, poor D poor hustle the things you think he does well.

Was he playing like that in Indiana also, is he just checked out for the year after winning or is it just cause he got traded and knows he will move on? I don’t know something to think about.

Otherwise yea I guess any of these guys are fine. They don’t warrant a real strong return, not perfect fix but will do fine.

comments in here are crazy. Brown is perfect because most importantly he fits the identity of the team and Thibs style, to the point of saying it out loud a couple weeks ago. it doesn’t matter that he overlaps position in a new positionless league, Randle and OG are hurt and lets them come back when fully healthy and will reduce their minutes, let alone gives josh a rest. not to mention this is a playoff championship caliber player. on top of all of it he has a team option for next year and even more desirable contract than Fournier. brown should be the get over murray, clarkson, or brogdon 100%. burks should just be that guy anyway, already a knick and wont cost nearly as much.

Kind of feeling like they don’t do anything.

Which I’d prefer to doing something stupid.

Brown is a good defender and has shown he can contribute to winning. I’m thinking he can give Josh Hart a breather and play a similar role or if we play small, we can have them both on the floor. Getting him for draft capital is a good deal. I don’t want to give up Grimes, he’s shown such an improvement since the trade.

    Trade:

    Raptors Trade:
    – Brown

    Knicks Trade:
    – Fournier
    – 2024 1st (Late Dallas Pick)

Think we end up with Brown and get Lowry off a buyout

  18. FlockingPigeons

Bruce is fine, Burks is fine. Both would help the bench in the regular season. Bruce would be the backup point and he fits the identity of the team as a tough defensive player. Burks offers better offensive pop but I doubt he would get a many playoff minutes. It’s not perfect by any means but they would represent another marginal improvement that this FO has opted for. Looks like the FO is gonna keep their bullets for the summer and make a big move then.

  19. doublea94

Literally just getting Bruce brown for EF and 2nds would be great. A good player for one who doesn’t play at all is a win to me.

  20. We had to trade assets to move Burks, now trade assets to bring him back

  21. Living_Internet_2970

    Give us burks

    I don’t want brown here

  22. I’ll take Burks under the stipulation that we never have to watch him inbound the ball ever again.

  23. HipnotiK1

wouldn’t hate brown – gives us redundancy but injuries area thing so it’s not horrible. then you have his contact for next year to potentially package for a “star” whoever that is.

not my 1st choice but if the price is cheap why not. murray would be the biggest needle mover but costs the most and has the highest potential to backfire.

brogs to me is still the ideal get. good defensive guard that can run the 2nd unit.
