I’m 35. I was 6 when I started yelling at the TV for the Knicks. Ewing, Starks, Alan Houston, Chris Childs, Charlie Ward, Oakley, Larry Johnson. never made a sports bet before. despite playing poker and being a click away for over a decade. (only watch basketball)

after December 16th 2023. Knicks vs Clippers, I spend a couple days watching the other full games from this season. the betting odds then- 16:1. Discussed it with my wife. Told her what I saw and made the bet.

I told my wife: **They might become the best team I’ve** ***ever*** **seen.** The odds now: ~6:1

    * Kawhi – no limp. a fast first. 2014 efficiency WITH volume. no missed games (at the time). “MJ-esque” again (just: +4″ wingspan, +1.5″ height, -16″ vert lol, same focus, same hands.)
    * Russell Westbrook – all hustle both ends, no ego, off the bench. and I read his contract- how can someone be so opposite of carmelo
    * Harden (+ Zubac), beautiful PnR, drive or 3s, perfect match for kawhi, looking focused and playing lockdown defense? while happy? no ego also? wtf
    * PG, great defense, good iso option, high volume 3s, leave to double kawhi?
    * TMann/Powell – great baseline support, incredible shot making. good defense.

With better defense in the paint by Theis and Plumlee, and slightly better defensive movement against the midrange- **this team could’ve lived rent free in MJ’s head in an off season in the 80s/90s**. and with clipper’s great man-to-man perimeter defense **I think they would fuck up the kd warriors**. This team is a nightmare. Matchup wise, I’d only be slightly worried about the size/weight of the wolves and nuggets.

My moneys on you clippers. the most my wife was okay with us betting. and I think that the odds now are still a good deal.. cause who the fuck is taking this selfless team of top75s in a best of 7.

I got them at 18-1 back in October before the Harden trade. Don’t know what made me pull the trigger, but I felt like I had to go “all in” with this iteration of the 213 era as the team clearly has.

If they pull it off, I can think of no better way to spend the winnings than on tickets to game 1 at Intuit.
