I know it doesnt seem like it because of the lack of US media hype and not being a free agent destination but the league knows that Toronto is one of their biggest markets.
Plus the Raptors have one of the biggest fanbases so there is benefit to having a deserving Raptor at the game regardless of the teams record.
Sikver could have easily picked Siakam to please the Pacers home crowd and still went with Scottie. He really is on track to be a face of the league and has made a big leap this year and it is great to see that being recognized.
