Hopefully the first of many trips to The Winner Circle Terry on Sunday you said you can’t hit a jump shot how do you feel after tonight’s game uh still getting there still getting there trying to get acclimated the uh these guys and these coaches do a great job you know

Just making me feel comfortable so you know with a little time it’ll get there b contributions up and down the lineup here tonight from your entire team you guys did it against a team ranked fifth in defense how did you guys find that success uh just moving the ball moving

The ball you know giving it to our guy Jimmy and and you know letting them make plays for one another and we just feeding off one another so you know just looking to keep playing like that and we’ll be real good you guys have now won the season series and own the tiebreaker

In the division what’s the significance of a win like this well we know how important that was and you know every game from here on out so you know just trying to take it day by day and get as much wins as we can you’ve spoken about the support that you’ve received from

Your teammates both on and off the court how has that helped your transition here to Miami it’s been a crazy two weeks to say the least but but these guys like I said man they doing a great job of just you know making me feel comfortable and

Think that we brought um tremendous energy to from the from the very beginning and I liked how we were sharing the ball and trusting one another out there and ultimately just having fun for you the 13th start of the Season how do you approach a game differently when you’re getting the

Start uh I just try to bring the energy from the jump I try to do that anyways um but I think just that’s that’s the ultimate role right there along side with those guys and uh we got so much talent in the starting unit uh I’m just

Trying to do everything and anything I can to to impact winning well we see your energy throughout the game but especially I think it was in the third quarter you had the big slam showed a lot of emotion what was going through your mind uh just having fun uh I

Haven’t got one of those in a while I feel like so it was just it was just nice to throw one down and and get into it with the crowd and um you know hopefully we can start rolling and get a couple more of those you guys don’t have

A lot of time to rest you host the Spurs tomorrow what do you turn your focus to as you turn the page to invite the St spurs in uh they’re a young hungry team and they’re going to come in here looking for a win and um you you know we

Ultimately have to be ready and and address them just as if we’re playing the number one team in the league and um you know they got a lot of talented guys over there that are ready to to to approve to the to um you know to the

League that they’re ready to go and um you know we need to approach a life tonight come with the same type of defensive intensity and um you know again just just have fun with it well in the meantime go have fun with your teammates we hear the music blasing

Congratulations and thanks for the time thank you appreciate you having me you guys really set the tone on the defensive end um from the start what did you like about the way you guys are able to be disruptive and and also just make things difficult yeah you know I think

Any coach would would like to see some extended periods of time where your team is committing to doing tough things defensively and that’s four games in a row now um where uh we look a lot more consistently and closer to our identity you know defensively uh you know certainly

Tonight it helped offensively you know we’re playing with much more of a motor and almost nine guys and double figures but it starts with the defensive activity the physicality doing things with force uh and focus uh and and letting you know some offense feed off of that that defense um

You know while we’re you know working through things you know right now and uh you know we we definitely had some transition opportunities you know off of great defens of stops and and you know we looked fast out out there uh you know which is is good to see and seeing

Seeing us turn those into you know easy baskets going the other way um you know and we have really good uh high respect for Orlando and what they’ve done so uh overall that’s uh that’s a quality win gu a very good opponent the rotation reset even more so in the lineup reset a

Lot of different things we saw Jimmy the start of the fourth Jimmy playing with three reserves in in the first how much you told us pregame you had a lot to look look over and go over just your thought process on pretty dramatic at this point of the season for what we saw

Tonight different look than what we well it’s the different look is what Tim alluded to right before the game this is the first time since I don’t know when I don’t know I’m not keeping track of it no not ever but you know this I don’t

Know what you know we would have gotten to but uh this is where we are you know we’re we’re we have our our you know basically our full contingent right now and so um you know we’re working through things and and uh you know trying to to

Have some role definition and get a consistent rotation which I don’t know if that’s you know will happen you know but uh in the meantime we have enough experience at this point in the season that we still can figure out how we can win games and we can do a lot of

Things defensively and that can generate a lot of good karma for us uh and playing uh a collaborative game offensively uh benefits everybody uh we’re at our best when everybody’s a live weapon uh and you saw that tonight Jimmy obviously you know was spearheading a lot of what we were doing

Uh but you know our backc court looked fast out there uh and and they presented a lot of problems you know for the for the defense um creating advantages with their speed skill quickness uh and the decision making um and then everybody else you know chipped in you know bam

Was a monster I think it was a plus I has to be probably our our highest plus you know for our game um he’s anchoring our defense um but allowing you know our offense to to develop like this and uh he’s that’s just the epitome of winning

Basketball what do you like about uh taking Jimmy out early and and then getting them back in there give you all of my thought process on this it’s just you know you can look at it uh a couple different ways it’s too bad that we’re like getting to this kind of deal you

Know at this point of the Season or you look at it like you just deal with whatever you know all of these are great experiences for your team to go through adversity as long as you approach it the right way uh where you rally around each other rally around Solutions rally

Around what will it take for us to win basketball games and um you know at the beginning of the season when we had our full contingent I don’t even remember what I was thinking with my rotation and all that I just was excited to to have the possibilities and fill up my full

Board uh and then start to put together the you know a plan and we’re still going to need everybody you know um you know this you still look at like H and and Nico they’ve given us phenomenal minutes you know when they were plugged in there

Um and and our depth at the center position as well so uh we went with what we went with tonight and we’ll we’ll see if we can continue this seem like Terry and Tyler’s pain attacks kind of set up a lot of the half court offense early on

And then haime and Caleb in the third quarter kind of put a lot of pressure on the remedy it’s just how important was those pockets of the game to kind of force the offense in yeah for sure like we have to be an aggressiv minded team

Does that mean it’s always going to end up in a layup a dunk or a foul no but it’s it’s the paint pressure uh and Jimmy was able to at really key points in the game and you know I I guess that’s what you guys are trying to

Get to you know those those swing moments he was able to control it with you know time score context foul trouble all that he can he can control a game as well as anybody uh in this Association uh with that said you know you know the speed and quickness uh and energy that

Uh Terry Tyler and and haime brought were were just essential those were end up being relief opportunities for our team collapsing the defense either scoring or making the right play and uh we’ll need all of that uh for sure there’s still some random ones but for the most part over the past four

Games teams are getting far fewer of those clean kind of UN unhindered drives to the rim when when the scheme is there to kind of limit that in the first place what plays into that being more effective what what the guys are actually executing on the floor

Defensively yeah uh you first have to understand how damaging that is to get absolutely annihilated or blown by off the dribble now this league is almost impossible it’s not impossible cuz you you wrap your mind around doing difficult things but the speed space and the way it’s officiated to just

Control somebody oneon-one is a a very tall task but you have to take that challenge I remember uh vividly one of the blocks that bam had you know in the first half it’s taking the challenge and and it’s not a straight line drive but

The drive gets by you a lot of talent in this league will get by you it just can’t be a direct line that allows now the help Defenders to be able to do their job and Bam was able to do that you know there and everybody’s taking a

Little bit more Pride um and it it stems from the understanding of how important it is for us to be successful to win games is to be able to defend last question Eric what’s it say about I mean when things aren’t going great for a

Team over a little bit of a stretch that nobody said nobody took it upon themselves to do more than what was there like nobody took a ton of shots everything was with wasin the framework of pass going you know shots I’ve always felt this way there’s nothing wrong with

A little bit of adversity in this league I mean success can be the worst teacher and it could be the worst formula you know sometimes if you just get endless amount of success in in a regular season and you’re just not like really dealing with the truth we’ve had

To deal with the truth we’ve had to deal some some very hard realities of why we haven’t been able to win the way we want to and as long long as you approach it the right way and you rally around Solutions rally around each other uh and

Get to work uh you can actually have breakthroughs and uh I’m not going that far right now to say we’ve had a breakthrough we’ve we’ve still got a long way to go but at least it’s a start these four games closer to our identity okay thank

You played a ton of roles here done everything today it seemed like you took a more definitive role as a playmaker especially when you were playing with reserves when you came in into the first quarter and later in the game what was that shift in that Dynamic like for you

To sort of change roles a little bit um I feel as though I I normally play the same way I definitely deem myself a past first player um I love to try to to get my teammates involved help them to be as successful as they can um had a few

Turnovers trying to do that but at the same time uh get my guys rolling what was it like the new rotation including starting the fourth quarter just a little different role was was that a a shake shake up to the entire team system or what was it like this new look no we

Talked about it so I think everybody was uh ready for what was about to happen I like it um I think it it makes everybody more comfortable maybe the mall the ball moves uh a little bit more with different guys and not a lot I don’t

Think that’s a problem as long as you win so um we did that it looks good and I bet that’s what we’re going to go to from now on Jimmy you held him under 100 and he scored over 120 and I think spos have just to us just now that you guys

Play more to the identity do you feel like that that was the case tonight yes definitely um taking and and making open shots not being too unselfish obviously guarding everybody else limiting their turnovers except for myself on um sharing the basketball um I think that’s the Miami Heat way that’s the way that

We want to win that’s the way we have always won and that’s the way we’re going to continue to win when that little L push back in the fourth quarter you come back and you hit the two threes you go a little run yourself you just

Find that that was the moment where you kind of needed to just put a stop to it yeah I got mad that buddy scored on me I’m not even going to stunt I’m supposed to be able to stay in front of guys and uh he scored and I took it personal

I did so I went on there and and got a bucket or to myself plus I was in a slump in the first half so I had to make two threes J you’re shooting just under 45% in three the season you talked about the season you’re trying to get to 50 is

That still the goal it is the goal um I got to take him and with confidence as I have been doing um but at the same time I still got to attack the paint I have to be who I am who this squad needs me

To be and uh when I’m open take them I think everybody wants me to shoot more of them honestly I’m not going for that though I’m still going to run in there and hit people J me better week you was a question about the defense was why why

Were so many straight line drives being allowed and over the past few games it feels like that’s been mostly cleaned up what goes into that why why are those drives not there now just the want to do it is is literally that simple when you

Want to do something you will do it on the defensive end we figured if we want to win then we better be able to guard somebody so we wanted to do it so we did it how much comfort are you seing out Terry roier lately oh no he’s straight

We we knew that though we always tell him to come in here and be himself don’t worry about um making sure that everybody else got the ball we I’ll make sure that everybody else has the ball including him be aggressive um throw the ball in and at the basket as as often as

You can and um that’s going to be his role and that’s going to be the role for him that’s going to help us win
