With Minnesota and OKC both losing tonight, the Los Angeles Clippers now have possession of the #1 seed.

[Standings](https://www.espn.com/nba/standings)

Although they have played one less game, the Clippers have a .694 win percentage, while OKC, Minnesota, and Denver are all tied for 2nd with a .686 win percentage.

Since their 5-game losing streak following the Harden trade, the Clippers have gone 31-8 where they only lost 2 games in a row once.

Seems like most people in the basketball world including the media were quick to write them off. However, the Clippers wrote back.

thank u Chicago thank u Utah y’all deserve the most demonic sloppy toppy

  2. Reading back those comments from when they started 0-6 after the Harden trade is incredibly funny

Never seen a narrative change this quick. Kudos to Ty Lue for figuring it out

  4. according to a reliable source (some guy on twitter) we’ve never been the 1-seed after New Years before

  5. Spare_Jaguar_5173

If Harden went through the training camp, they would’ve been on 73-9 pace or smth

  6. NoiceForNoReason

Heyoooooo! Been on a tear, well deserved.

  7. Ty Lue getting robbed in daylight

Deserves the all star coaching nod

  8. OKC2023champs

Deserved. They have looked like the best team in the west the last 2 months

  9. HotBoyTeece

they’re a very fun team to watch but i just need to see it in the playoffs to believe it

i won’t let the clippers hurt me again

I asked the producer to pipe this into the Clippers’ locker room so I can talk to you, James. I hope you’re taking notes. I’m telling you in advance, you’re welcome for the wisdom I’m about to spew. Because, listen, I get on my knees every night and pray for someone to believe in me like Daryl Morey believed in you. You wanted a certain coach, they brought in Mike D’Antoni. You wanted to play a certain style, they played it. You wanted Dwight Howard, they brought him in and got rid of him when you were tired of him. You wanted Chris Paul, they brought him in and got rid of him when you were tired of him. They brought in your old friend Russell Westbrook. You wanted to go to Vegas on off days, they looked away. You wanted the team to stay over so you could go out at night, they changed the schedule. And it didn’t work, and you know what, you said I’m gonna break up with my woobie, not good enough. I see the bright lights in New York, I want to go there [with] my old pal Kevin Durant. It’s gonna work, the big three. And all after one year, you wanted out. You realized, oh my gosh, I took this guy for granted, the guy that believed in me. I want to go back with Daryl Morey. They traded Ben Simmons for you, how did they pull that off? And you know what, you went there and got a partner who got the MVP. He won the MVP and what did you say afterwards? You said, ‘They didn’t hand me the reins.’ You’re the point guard, you were holding the reins. And what did you do when you had the reins? You scored 9 points in Game 7 against Boston, you blew a 3-2 series lead. So they fired their coach, not good enough. You broke up with your guy who believed in you again. You said, ‘The bright lights of LA, that’s where I want to go.’ Let’s see how that works. Listen, James, have you ever had those friends who had bad roommates, over and over they complained about their bad roommates. … They never thought to be self aware enough that they’re the bad roommate. They’re the problem. Hey, James, you’re the problem. If this doesn’t work this year in this system with this team, then you’re going to go and point fingers at everybody else and you’re going to go back home and start swiping right for another team, and there’s not going to be anybody left. Because, James, you’re not the beard, you’re not the system, you’re the problem.

Oh man Sorry T Wolves and Thunder Bros :(( We’ll take the one seed I guess.

  12. Majestic_Reindeer439

Harden went from Embiid and Doc Rivers to Kawhi Leonard and Ty Lue. Smart man.

Posted this in another thread, but the tiebreaker situation could be interesting:

LAC vs OKC: 1-1 (1 more remaining)
LAC vs DEN: 1-2 (1 more remaining)
LAC vs MIN: 0-1 (3 more remaining!)

  14. The most optimistic clippers fan wouldnt assumed this would happen when we were losing against nets and grizz during the losing streak. In fact a lot of clippers fans wanted to trade PG and Kawhi during last summer. It just feel unreal with a little bit of feeling that one injury could ruin everything (PTSD) i will enjoy this tomorrow since pelicans are one the teams that we struggle against.

  15. Yep bound to happen eventually with what I’ve seen from watching the top 4 western conference teams play.

Congrats clipper bros! IMO it’s pretty much you vs. Denver vs. Injuries.

  16. KaiserKaiba

Looking real spooky rn. LAC is a force to be reckoned with this season. Praying they stay healthy cuz I’d love to see them make a deep run

  17. Apart-Volume9340

We have to put a stop to this somebody get Steph on the Nuggets

  18. KiryuXGoro

The games back between 4 and 5 spot is the same between 5 and 10.

  19. ge0rgew0nder

Dread it, run from it, kawhi arrives all the same.

  20. GuyWithNoSwagger

So when will Kawhi be in MVP discussions?

  21. streetlightnings

Love seeing Harden find success as a Rockets fan

  22. I thought the Harden trade would make them better but not better enough, and I’m forced to reconsider that now.

They look good enough. They probably won’t go all the way, (only one team does) but with decent health, they very well could.

  23. arealPointyBoy

the 0-6 post trade is such an outlier i feel they get a better record than boston when the regular season ends

  24. HarryPauler

Congrats clippers bros. Just wish my team could get it’s head out of its own ass

  25. HeckFamous1760

I really wish they kept the standings on the sidebar

  26. itsallmelting

I cannot handle another Mavs/Clippers series. We need to get out of the playin

  27. BlackWhiteCoke

Don’t forget about Bill Simmons either y’all

  28. Fhaksfha794

I’m still not over how shit went down with the nephew but the clippers winning a ring would be dope. Harden, PG, and Westbrook get their first, clippers shed the label of cursed franchise, and the salt from lakers fans would be enough to fill up the Pacific Ocean

  29. WadeCountyClutch

Got to remember Westbrook didn’t work at first with the clippers and they had a losing streak before jelling. Same thing happened with harden and now look at them

  30. realfakejames

This sub was full of idiots who agreed with that moron and his rant about Harden, now where are they? People who actually knew what they were talking about knew Harden just had to get into playing shape but that he was a much better playmaker than Russ, they haven’t looked back

A good reminder most nba fans don’t know what they’re talking about and are quick to fall for some hot take nonsense
