[Weinbach] It sounds like the Bucks are seriously contemplating a trade offer for Bruce Brown that would involve Bobby Portis, Pat Connaughton, and draft compensation. Brown would be an excellent fit in Milwaukee but I just don’t know if it’s worth sacrificing Portis and additional assets.

I don’t get why people want Bruce Brown so bad. He doesn’t help us at all considering we would need to gut our entire bench to add a guy making 22m a season who we would probably fail to re-sign. Bruce isn’t even an elite POA defender nor can he shoot the 3. I don’t understand how he even fits with the Bucks or Giannis.

You do not ship out a guy like Bobby who means as much as he does for the org/fans and who is as good as he is off the bench for us for a rental role player. Without BP we would have no bench scoring and no backup bigs. You think our bench scoring is bad right now? Imagine taking away Bobby, Pat and adding Bruce Brown to it lmao.

The guy saying this isn’t a real reporter or source. He just spitballs Bucks stuff and thank god for it. A Bruce Brown trade involving us giving up Bobby, Pat and picks would be malpractice.

I’d trade Bobby and Pat for Bruce, don’t think he’s gonna be what pushes us over the hump though

  3. This guy doesn’t know anything about anything.

Portis ain’t that great anymore. The only issue is no backup bigs. Are they just committing to small ball off the bench? Robin is unplayable. They honestly have no backup center unless you run giannis which again is not ideal except in matchup advantage. Maybe they could do this and get bismack to buy out?

I get that Bobby is one of the few tradable assets the Bucks have but he’s a decent player to have off the bench, comes at a reasonable cost through next year (and 2025-2026 with a player option), is only 28 years old, and when he’s on brings a spark and energy to the team that only Giannis and Dame can match.

Why trade him for half year rentals?

I dont understand how we can move bobby if we’re not getting a big in return? Our big rotation is already paper thin with bobby

  7. To those worried about bench scoring, wouldn’t Brown replace Beasley as a starter and Beasley would become our bench scorer?

That seems like a fine replacement for Bobby’s scoring, to me.

I would worry a bit about lack of big guys on the roster, though.

  8. I don’t think it’s worth it Brown is wildly overrated and not a good fit next to Giannis.

If he can jump for a rebound on time without tipping the ball to the other team, he’s an instant upgrade from Portis…offense or no offense.

I love Bobby. I hate that we can’t keep a fucking great dude around the team but when a team is championship or bust; very few players are trade proof (see Marcus smart and Boston)

Listen with Brook Giannis Middleton Beasley Dame scoring is not needed. Look if you’re trading Middleton find keep Bobby, if not he is completely redundant.

Although alternatively I’d consider shipping out Dame for FVV and Dillon Brooks
