  1. Well that’s that then, insane overpay for a bench player

  2. We_hitt_a_boat

    LOL PASS

PJ and Josh are very close to the same level. I’ve been talking myself into the trade because PJ is at a position of need, we’d get to dump Holmes’ contract on them, and we’d keep our first. If they’re insistent on a first move on.

    That’s absolutely insane

Josh alone is probably worth more than PJ

  4. lilsaucy32

No way we do the FRP. It will be a straight swap (with Holmes as filler) with a second from us by deadline time.

  5. top_of_the_table

If they do that, they might as well close the franchise. Ridiculous overpay.

  6. UnityPukeInMyMouth

Just call their bluff, to be honest I’m totally fine with not making any moves this deadline. If something great comes up, or course pull the trigger. This ain’t anywhere close to great for us.

They will probably end up trading him for much less than that.

  7. TZBlueIce

    That’s a pretty easy no….

Starting to look like no trade is in the cards this deadline.

  8. marginallymediocre

Green AND a first. I don’t even love Green as much as most here but yeah fuuuuuck off LOL

  9. RGxiRapiidz

Mavs need to trade THJ for a future 1st (Magic have Denver 2025 1st which would be fair) use that an expiring salary to get PJ.

  10. Lmfao Mitch Kupshak is smoking crack if that’s what he’s asking for fucking PJ Washington. Let’s run it back then and wait for a real difference make in the summer.

  11. RhinoBugs

Josh Green you are NOT a hornets player. Seriously, don’t do this trade Nico

  12. Powerful-Pie-9540

Lmao that’s almost as ridiculous as the whole Hornets franchise history.

  13. Jolly-Mortgage4

yeah its too much for him. That’s something that should be considered for players like Kuzma and Jerami Grant.

  14. butcher_of_blaviken1

I wouldn’t have done that a month ago but for sure not now that Josh is playing way better

  15. Fuck these greedy ass teams. I wouldn’t even do Josh for PJ straight up

  16. Just leave the team alone. Especially if it involves trading rotation guys for marginal upgrades. The team is not good enough that tweaks like this are suddenly going to vault them into contender status, just let it play out and hope Grant improves.

Well, Josh Green is a very flawed player. He really doesn’t match his “raw, but very athletic and at least a good wing defender” label. Analytics say that he’s one of the worst defenders in the league.

On the other hand, the story is almost the same for PJ Washington. At least he has more size.

I would not trade for PJ if it took Green OR the first let alone both. Nico has me worried because we should not be this deep into conversations with those asking prices. That probably means he would settle for trading Green for PJ if they didn’t ask for the first.

  19. Luka is capable of turning PJ into a very good starter. Truth is this team is not good enough to compete with the top teams in the west. Mavs need to make a serious upgrade if they don’t want to waste another year of Kyrie and Lukas prime.

  20. Dirks_Knee

Horrible deal that I hope the Mavs are smart enough to pass on.

That said, we are going to have to give quality assets to get quality assets…

  21. dragonwhale

Nah. Not even 1 for 1. They can get a 1st and holmes. Or THJ straight up. If we trade potential great future for a PJ Washington then i would be 0 surprised cause it’s the Mavs but it’s gonna be yet another step backwards.

  22. P.J. Washington (Hornets):
    25 year old, 6’7, 230lb, PER 36: 15.6/6.5/3 on 45/36/71, contract 17 mil in 2023-24, 15.5 in 2024-25 and 14 mil in 2025-26

    Vlatko Čančar (Nuggets):
    26 year old, 6’8, 240lb, PER 36: 12/5/3 on 48/36/85, contract 2.2 mil 2023-24 and 2.3 mil in 2024-25

Unfortunately Vlatko had an ACL tear last summer playing for Slovenia, but he’s recovering well. We could buy low and wouldn’t have to give up a lot to get him. These teams are out of their minds with their asking prices, so if nothing changes I wouldn’t make any moves this deadline.

This scares me because Mavs are usually so bad at negotiating.
