Mitchell is a high priced role player. he's never been a difference maker in his career and doesn't project to be one. He'd be ideal for the Lakers but they don't have enough. He'd actually be a solid pickup for both Houston and OKC.
What makes them think the cavs are willing to trade Mitchell. They are currently the number 2 seed in the east. I honestly think this is just a way for the Lakers to fool their fans into believing this so they don't get backlash for not getting any big deals done this deadline.
Okay, hear me out: LeBron for Mitchell? I'm cracking up just thinking about it! I mean, LeBron couldn't find that Lakers championship magic, but hey, maybe Mitchell's got some secret sauce we don't know about. And don't even get me started on the bubble championship.. it's like winning a participation trophy at a family reunion. Plus, LeBron's toxic! More like he's got a PhD in drama!. Bring on the laughs 🤣
The Lakers aren't going to get Mitchell. We don't have the assets. A Laker first round pick (especially if we had AD and Mitchell) isn't going to be nearly as valuable as a Rockets, Piston, or even Knick first round pick. The Knicks will be able to outbid us unless Rui and DLo become allstar caliber players.
They can target whoever they want, but unless Donovan Mitchell demands to be traded to Lakers they objectively don’t have nearly enough compared to at least 5 other teams asset wise.
Of course the “Knicks are in play”, it’s a known fact he wants to play in NYC😅.
If you know you can get Mitchell no brainer, but without tampering how could they possibly know/think this?
It’s still way more likely mathematically he either stays on Cavs and/or goes somewhere else not the Lakers.
