  1. Looking after the trade deadline which quite honestly was WEIRD…. Brooklyn did make two moves so here is the summary:

Brooklyn Nets: Dennis Schroeder and Thaddeus Young

    Toronto Raptors : Spencer Dinwiddie

Brooklyn Nets: Keita Bates Diop Jordan Goodwin and 3 second round draft picks

    Phoenix Suns: Royce O Neale

Some people are probably upset and feel very underwhelmed….

The Dennis trade is interesting because he provides the versatility and energy that Spencer couldn't provide to this team and he is coming off an MVP award in the FIBA cup…

But the Royce to Suns trade is shocking honestly….

Why is Sean Marks helping a Suns team when he controls all their remaining first round draft capital??? The big reason was probably cleaning what's left of the Suns draft assets…

But still if the Suns have a deep playoff run because of Royce contributions doesn't that devalue Brooklyn's future picks in some way???

It's hard to understand that one for sure….

But overall this was a very underwhelming trade deadline….

  2. For people who want reasons why Brooklyn didn't make many moves there are 3 reasons:

    1) The first reason is Brooklyn wants to avoid the repeaters luxury tax this season because if Brooklyn goes over it, it hinders their future financial flexibility.

    2) Sean Marks didn't want to trade Doe because he has one more left on his contract and if Brooklyn goes after a superstar this summer Doe's contract could be used as a big salary filler

    3) Ben Simmons contract. Simmons is making $37 million and $40 million next season when he becomes an expiring contract….

Ultimately Ben Simmons contract situation made it very tough to make flexible moves, the repeater tax made it hard to balance out potential salary moves and Sean Marks is more focused on this upcoming summer to add star talent around Mikal Bridges…..

  3. Looking ahead this summer Brooklyn wants to go star hunting.

After the Knicks big moves this season, they have essentially traded all the main pieces that would have been used in a Mitchell trade such as RJ Barret Immanuel Quickly Quentin Grimes and Evan Fournier….

Now what they could offer is Julius Randle and protected first round draft picks….

Brooklyn has matching salary pieces such as Dorian Finney Smith Cam Johnson etc….. More importantly they have unprotected first round draft picks which are more valuable so Brooklyn has a chance to go that route…

But another reason is Brooklyn might be hoping superstars such as Giannis and Luka who are stuck in tough situations at the moment will eventually request trades and Brooklyn could jump at those opportunities…..

But it's a gamble regardless considering Brooklyn's direction is still very unclear….

  4. Right now it looks like the rest of this season is dependent on Ben Simmons Mikal Bridges Nic Claxton and Cam Thomas coming together and leading a balanced effort to pick up important wins and get into the play-in tournament….

    We'll see what happens….

  5. I think going after stars usually blows up in your face BUT if that is the plan for the Nets there are two I’d be working back channels to see if they would force there way out. There names are not Luka and Giannas but….

Zion and LeMelo Ball. Zion has had an up and down relationship with his franchise and LeMelo is with the Hornets both need to be in bigger markets. These are the two guys I’d want to go pry away.

  7. Why do the nets think they can land a super star ?
Why would a superstar come to a team with no real home fans. Anytime there’s a big game the opposing fans show up more than the net fans
They couldn’t win with 3 super starts they are never going to win shit
Sell the team and move to Vegas or Seattle

  8. But Adam…. if the goal was to not dumpster and you’re avoiding a full rebuild, but you end up being a lottery team anyway again what is Mark doing here then? Mark is basically failed at being mediocre as well
