1. He’s an uncoming free agent and unlikely to be retained or want to stay. 2. The pick is the Clippers’ pick after their current era is gone. Likely we’ll be a playoff team by then. 3. This is a ‘good guy’ trade: we send our players to good situations with playoff teams.
So, we get something for a guy who isn’t going to be around anyway (like Derozan) and get him to a great destination for him. What’s the problem?
