  1. Chauncey heard people saying Monty is the worst coach in the NBA and had to make a statement game. Thank god the Pistons weren’t still on their losing streak.

  2. TheLetterOh

It’s honestly insane the spacing Anfernee provides just by being out there. Game totally changed when he went out.

I don’t know what Chauncey was doing playing Toumani over Kris to close the game. We really needed anyone else that could make a shot.

Despite the utter clown show, Jerami Grant—

  4. PrudentWerewolf12

one of the basketball games of all time

  5. kalebglover

We absolutely suck if we don’t have a point guard who woulda thought

  6. TubbzMcGee

Deserved loss due to Rupert getting 0 minutes tonight.

  7. Left4Bread2

That game could be submitted to my favorite subreddit, r/tankporn

  8. GoodBoyFM

Brutal. This is the kind of loss than can cause some real damage mentally in the long run, had control almost the entire game…

GET CHAUNCEY BILLUPS AWAY FROM MY BASKETBALL TEAM

Here are some of my thoughts from this game:

    Positives:

    * Jabari played a great game on both ends of the court, especially in the first half. He finished well in the paint, and was super impactful defensively and really showed his versatility – he spent time as the primary defender on Ivey, Duren, and Cade at different points throughout the game, and generally did a good job. He was active on the glass, and really held his own against Duren despite being undersized. I don’t think that Walker is a long-term center or anything, but the fact that he’s able to give good minutes at the center position against certain lineups is super impactful and something we can use more in the future if we need it.
    * Grant was great on both ends too. We all know he can score (and he did a great job of that), but for 3.5 quarters he did a pretty solid job moving the ball tonight, and being decisive when he’s gotten the ball (attacking mismatches and moving quickly off the catch, and not pounding the ball into the ground in ISOs), and he also did a fantastic job getting to the FT line. Great game from him in a game where we were shorthanded and needed him to create.
    * Thybulle was SO impactful on both ends of the court today. I didn’t know he had any sort of dribble drive game whatsoever, but he looked fantastic getting into the paint and kicking it back out for threes. I DEFINITELY did not have “Matisse Thybulle looking good running the offense” on my bingo card at all this season. And defensively we got a “good” Thybulle game where almost all of his gambles paid off. It was truly beautiful to watch him defensively – blowing up plays, forcing turnovers, getting steals, etc.
    * Kris Murray looked good too. He’s never going to be a star, but he plays such good complimentary basketball – making smart cuts, crashing the offensive glass, and being in the right place at the right time on defense. One play that really stood out to me was when Ivey beat his man off the dribble, Murray recognized the situation early, got to the help position on time and got a block. That’s the kind of play that you rarely see from a rookie, and makes me optimistic about his future. I think if I had one critique of his game, I wish he shot some of the open looks he got, instead of trying to pump fake and drive every time.
    * I liked Hagans’ and Minaya’s energy on defense and he made some nice looking plays. I don’t think they are real NBA players, but it’s nice to see them play so hard.
    * From a team standpoint, playing so many long athletic wings (Thybulle, Camara, Jabari, Grant, Murray, Minaya) and not a whole lot of bigs or small guards made it easy to switch everything and not give up any mismatches, which really seemed to bother the Pistons’ offense.

    Negatives:

    * Really sucks that Ant got hurt. It didn’t look that bad on TV so hopefully he can get back soon.
    * Haberstroh’s stats seem so…gimmicky and not educational in any way whatsoever which I feel like kinda defeats the purpose of having Haberstroh on air. Also I really don’t want to hear 3 consecutive minutes of Haberstroh trade analysis in the fourth quarter. Smh.
    * Grant turned into a bit of a ballstopper in the fourth quarter. I get that he probably feels like he has to take over because of the injuries, but I think he (and the offense as a whole) played better when he was off the ball, especially when Thybulle was running the offense. I thought we could have gone to that a little bit more. Not really a fan of going to Grant 1v5 on offense for extended stretches tbh. I wish he got his 50 piece though.
    * After the Simons injury the offense got insanely predictable and just brutal to watch, and I really wans’t a fan. I get that your options are limited but maaaan you gotta at least TRY something else right?
    * Wasn’t really a big fan of Hagans’ decision making on offense. It looked very…Keon Johnson like if you know what I mean. I really don’t like those full speed drive into the paint, jumping without a plan and then wildly throwing the ball somewhere. That might work in the G league but that’s not gonna work in the NBA…unless you’re Ja Morant. And Hagans is definitely not Ja Morant.
    * Even though you can see the tools, Badji looked at least a year away from being a real contributor though. That goaltend was…wild lol.
    * No Rupert minutes? I also thought we could have really used Kris Murray to close the game.

  11. quack_moo72

Turns out it’s hard to win in the NBA with no point guard or center.

  12. really glad i tuned in at the point in ot to watch the blazers score no points at all

  13. game_blouses_

I didn’t think that there will be a worst loss than the 60+ points to OKC, but here we are.

  14. YellowMarkerIsGreat

Chauncey Billups is the ultimate tank commander

  15. rexter2k5

Fuck Chauncey Billups, dude. This was a career game for Grant and he soiled it like a god damn diaper. I’ve made a lot of excuses for him. Now I’m not resting until his sorry ass is fired.

Edit: someone kidnap Chauncey and send his ass back to Detroit.

Edit 2: seriously guys, it’s really hard to defend us as “better than Detroit” when we go and blow a 20 point lead against Detroit.

  16. kalebglover

Ant checked out when we were up 23 with 5 to go in the 3rd and we completely collapsed after that

  17. Ishfluent

It’s always nice to be reminded of just how bad a coach Chauncey Billups. Down the stretch he didn’t have a idea of how to score other than giving it to Jerami Grant. 4 other players on the court were completely removed from the game. Please for the love of god get this man out of here.

  18. GetBigDieMirin

Blazers pull off the tanking upset in a close one

  19. its_nevets

Closing with a guy that litterally signed a 10 day contract TADAYY! Sick, cool, great. The Tank^^tm rolls on!

  20. terrordactylz

Maybe we should be aiming to be like the Pistons and not the Rockets

  21. beatrailblazer

hold on what. weren’t we up like 15 near the end of the 4th??

  22. BehavioralSink

I’ve never felt so guilty about selling my tickets to the game for dirt cheap.

  23. Such-Egg-7584

I’m starting to think anfernees injury really fucked this game

  24. BrainsAre2Weird4Me

Well, this is what the team would look like a lot more often in full tank mode.

Think of this as a warm up for the end of the season.

  25. TheRealFakeDoors503

Savant level tank job, well done Chauncey

  26. Crunkbutter

Total collapse. I’m ok with tanking, but if we’re up around 20pts, finish it… That was just trash basketball at the end and everyone knew it.

  27. choonghuh

Grant was gassed but Chauncey had no other offensive gameplan

  28. rocky0502

Grant couldn’t carry us any harder he did his best

  29. ILikeTuwtles91

I turned the game on in the 1st quarter, but stopped watching after I saw a shot of Scoot in street clothes on the bench. After seeing the result, I don’t regret my decision.

  30. Such-Egg-7584

Y’all are clowns man. Stop overreacting. Don’t we want to lose anyways?

  31. bolderbikes

Could’ve really used Banton in this one, smh

  32. Skeptical_Yoshi

Chauncey shouldn’t be coaching anything above a lower level college team in a bad conference. And even that may be to much. The man is not a coach. At all. He has no coaching talent or skills, no leadership qualities, nothing to offer this organization other than being remembered as one of if not our worst coach ever. He is an active detriment to the development of these young players.

  33. How the heck does Hagans get HURT and still doesn’t get subbed out?? Minaya is FAR better

  34. WantedDadorAlive

Wtf how? I looked when it was 92-72 and decided I didn’t need to watch a blowout
