Recapping Detroit Pistons Trade Deadline | Woodward Pistons LIVE

Recapping Detroit Pistons Trade Deadline | Woodward Pistons LIVE

For what up though people got to recap this Detroit Pistons trade deadline definitely glad to see you all starting to follow in here a little little bit the Pistons were active um I think that they did some things that some people were hoping they’d do and then they did some things that uh

And then they didn’t do some things that people were hoping to see them do I know a lot of people wanted to see them make a splash but I do believe I do believe I do believe they did some good things and I believe that this core is what’s

Actually going to be featured now when you talk about K Cunningham Jaylen durren Jed iy Marcus saster assar Thompson you know obviously when you get to the off season when you get to uh the draft and whatnot I’m really hoping the piss can do something to lock down a

Starting four a starting caliber four I like Isaiah Stewart I really do I think that he’s a good player to have on your squad especially when you talking about that toughness that we’ve seen associated with Detroit Pistons basketball for the history of almost State Franchise going back at least to

The Bad Boys um but you know I am let me say what up to you guys that uh following in here already man what up do Kool-Aid are we lost no man I was just waiting for people uh to get in here man get the stream going and everything what up

Though Koolaid what up though you guys man ma what up though D night what up though I wish we could have gotten a goldber Mitchell return for K oh come on man look bro you hurt my heart I’m I’m a k believer I’m a k supporter it’s no

Secret of that man on this channel I do believe that um K Cunningham that some of these moves that were made today are moves that will ultimately help a lot of our ball handlers a lot of the people that drive uh into the paint and into the rack man because the defenses

That K Cunningham faces there’s not a lot of other players on the Pistons team who get that type of Defense thrown at them the league looks at K Cunningham as a plus player the league looks at k k Cunningham not as like a young guy but

As a guy who demands the respect of double teams with a hedge kind of like a triple team sometimes that’s what they look at when they see Ka Cunningham man and so it’s like I want to see this team kind of when they got a little bit more

Around them you know the players they got today like I said there a couple of these guys are you know what team Savant said it some three and D players that’s it you look at Quinton Grimes you look at who we covered yesterday and Simone

Fonco you look at some of these guys and you realize these guys are Quinton Grimes volume three point shooter shooting 36 to in his NBA career over three seasons two and a half Seasons shooting about 36 to 39% from behind the arc but Quinton Grimes reminds me of he’s

6’5 210 pounds plays solid defense on the perimeter actually can get a few little you know uh if he has to be at The Rim against another guard or whatnot he could defend against the the easy layups pretty well he actually has some athleticism if you’re not familiar with

With his game he can get up catch some lobs he can also uh dunk in transition dunk in the half court sets dunk off of the dribble uh to me and he can playmake a little bit man to me he’s kind of what they wanted kilan Hayes to be or what

Monty Williams was trying to uh have Killian Hayes be you know um and so from that regard yeah I I’m I’m interested to see what a type this type of pickup would do um but overall you know obviously there’s no splashes at this trade deadline a lot of things are

Realistically setting up what they’re going to do or whatever they’re going to attempt in the offseason I see uh Ace Boogie said Troy needs to go you know at this point in time I’m not here to defend Troy I’m not here to defend the organization at all

I’ve never tried to do that I’ve always wanted to kind of wait this thing out to see what they’re going to do what moves they are going to make because they have set themselves up pretty good and y’all have heard me say this before the old p

Man the ones that went to the playoffs with Andre Drummond and Stanley Johnson because they went out there and traded for and signed for people like you know Reggie Jackson uh Morris and a couple other people they they got some mid players and they surrounded them and they were

Like this eighth to 10th seed type of Team every year and I believe it’s because the mid type of players they got they put them around um draft picks in Stanley Johnson and Andre Drummond who weren’t necessarily considered Elite or top top top level Talent now me personally I’m an Andre Drummond

Apologist man I liked what Andre Drummond brought to the game I mean even though I love Jaylen durren you see it’s not that easy to step out there on that court on a nightly basis and be a 2020 threat every single night that’s something that Andre Drummond was you

Talking about Elite in the pick and roll game Elite at setting screens Elite at Rim running Elite at offensive uh rebounds Elite at defensive rebounds but he had his deficiencies and flaws where the Pistons were pushing him to be a number one wining reality at best Andre

Drummond should have been a number three or number four player and that was kind of why he did not work out as well as they wanted it to and why if you go out there and you sign mid players mid to decent players like those right below All-Star level players like Reggie

Jackson That’s why and like Tobias Harris that’s why those deals did not really pan out for the the the Detroit Pistons but now they’re going out and they’ve gotten some of these kind of mid players you know um not necessarily as talented as the Reggie Jackson and the Tobias

Harrises but they’re putting them around a much better talented core a much better talented young core and I said this uh shout out to Armani and Edwards with mass the show on uh with were Sports featuring Ryan rmania Fox 2 bril netor University of Michigan wide receiv

Receiver Legend and played in NFL I told them that this looks like they’re focused on featuring their young core finally all of us who were calling to see the Jade iy that we saw against the Sacramento Kings we should be able to get that on a pretty consistent basis

All of us who wanted to be able to see K Cunningham and Jay iy in his back court see them build chemistry see if they can actually work together this is kind of what we’re we’re gonna get to see now all of us who wanted to see Marcus

Sasser get his time to go out there have the ball in his hands and continue to do some of the good things we’ve seen him do now he’s going to get that time the one player that I’m hoping to see not get buried amongst all of the kind of

Six5 to 68 players that they just acquired is assar Thompson I’m hoping that assar Thompson is one of those guys as well that’s going to be able to be one of those guys getting some um getting some run because when you look at this squad man they traded all of

Their vets effectively you know all their older players boan buckanovich Alec Burks gone to the New York Knicks Monte Morris gone uh um Kevin Knox gone Marvin Bagley gone they they traded all their old players now all of their vet players all of their wisdom players

Supposedly all of the types of guys that Monty Williams likes to type to to kind of Coach those guys are gone now this is legitimately on this coure to prove themselves this year and I believe that this is going to lead into the offseason into the draft season into the free

Agency win Troy weaver or whomever is in that place ultimately makes that deal so yeah team has to be healthy before really making an assessment on this team I think you know Dwayne we can make some assessments man we can go on ahead and and start to pull out some conclusions

On this thing but you’re right you know the team has to be fully healthy before we can actually go out there and we know kind of see what we have and that’s why I’m hoping that K Cunningham gets back soon and then we see he and Ivy out

There now me personally because I want to react more or less to the trade de line but before we do that man let me definitely let you guys know kind of the players that were out and the players that are in for the Detroit Pistons man and um let’s see

Here it was quite a day man it was quite a day I want you guys to put in the uh chat as well what do you grade this this uh trade deadline what were you hoping Troy Weaver would do what moves were you hoping hey I don’t really jive with that

Move I definitely want to know you guys’s uh comments and thoughts and everything but acquired Simone fanto uh we talked about that yesterday with my guy who Tran from the hdden high notes podcast he covers the Utah Jazz um Malachi Flynn quincon Grimes Evan fornier Daniel house who’s already been

Waved four second round picks for the Detroit Pistons uh who they’ve traded away boan bonovich Alec Burks Killian Hayes who was waved Monte Morris Kevin Knox and Joe Harris who was also waved I said earlier I was talking to the legend Terry Foster who covered the Detroit Bad Boys and covered the going

To work pistons and really covered all four of our sports teams here in Detroit at some point in time in his career that my day would be made if Killian Hayes was not on the roster by three o’clock and I’ve been on record as defending Killian Hayes as a bench player I

Thought and I still think that he is a bench player your eighth through 11th guy on your team that do not me going all out and saying that I believe kilan Hayes is a great player but I also don’t believe that Killian Hayes is trash so

You guys consume me slander me troll me whatever you want to do in that regard but I do believe getting him off the roster and moving forward with the guards that matter is one of the biggest things you could do especially if if you have him on this roster you’re basically

Handicapping or or or or um forcing it into Monty Williams hands to play Killian Hayes after they had that organizational meeting with Monty Williams to play Jaden Ivy I kind of realized that the writing was on the wall for Killian Hayes then we started hearing all types of rumors and news pop

Out about kilan Hayes’s Camp saying hey we get us out of Detroit then you started hear this other rumor pop up that um Monty that Troy Weaver wanted to trade kilan Hayes last off season but that Monty Williams actually was like you know what I think that I can do

Something with Killy Hayes and you know what hey this thing is kind of this this book is written I’m not gonna spend too much time on Killian Hayes the only reason why I give it this time is because he was the first draft pick in the Troy Weaver restore era no matter

Who we believe made that draft pick uh in the organization he was the first pick in this restore and now there’s only one player left over from that first draft of Killian Hayes sadique Bay Isaiah Stewart and Sab Lee which they considered the first core four and

Obviously we knew that was just a start but it wasn’t going to be everything but um the players that I actually really really like in this thing the two players I really like are Quinton Grimes and Simone FIA I I actually like those moves I and I see Dwayne Pierce he said

Uh Grimes was also a sneaky good move I do I I like that one I like that one I’m gonna read off some of these grades before we talk about what these players can actually um bring to the table hey what up ESI Johnny uh eside Johnny said D minus for

Today a c for today from Jason herd C C+ C minus from ma Walker Dwayne Pierce said C you guys actually being nicer than oh whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa here we go about say y’all have been a little bit nicer than I thought you guys would have

Been Ace Boogie giving it a f for today and you guys these are the grades that I want to know what you guys are giving Troy Weaver and the Detroit Pistons at this trade deadline D+ I don’t think any of it should be a f i can understand

Seven Mile B he put a f slash incomplete if kiling Hayes is off the squad man y’all got to at least give this thing a D minus at the very least Killian was demanding a trade but got cut instead I guess if you demand a transfer they can

Fire you yeah and as the trade deadline began to come to a close and they just could not work out a deal where Killian Hayes was kind of thrown in I get it what I really think the issue is and I and I have to kind of check this is I

Don’t know if he’s waved if that relinquishes his um qualifying offer like if that means now he no longer has a qualifying offer and he’s just going to be a free agent now I think that that had more to do with it a lot of people were wondering why couldn’t he get

Traded well whoever picked up Killian Hayes he was going to be a restricted free agent and he was going to have a qualifying offer of like uh $10 million a Caple until you either wave him and resign him or going on ahead and sign him to that qo like that’s not

Something you really want to do and tying up your cap space for Killian Hayes couple more grades in here we got a B we got a C minus uh Blade no icewood we got a be this is one where it’s like if you were looking for a splash then I

Understand why you would give it a d or an F I understand that but on the other flip side the people that are giving it a b or a c I think it’s because of players like Simone fio I do believe it’s because of players like Quinton Grimes Quinton Grimes averaged 11 points

Per game last year and about 38% from three some athletic plays made the all you know the rookie um sophomore kind of rising stars challenge as well uh and uh fanto man when you look at his history in basketball I think that ceiling is a little bit higher than where he’s at

Right now and over last year versus this year he made a good jump you know it’s not huge jumps but doubling his assist from like the 0.5 to like 1.5 rebounds from like one and a half to like 3.7 uh his scoring went up as well and he was

Starting for the Utah Jazz and when he start when he began starting for the Utah Jazz they started seeing him get to some games where he was putting up 25 points 20 points 17 points kind of here and there and spotty throughout his uh start but he one thing he was definitely doing

Very very well was hitting the three ball uh the other thing was his defense he plays pretty good defense and when you talk about replacing Alec Burks and boam bonovich with a couple players like fonio and Quinton Grimes I think that you’re getting some players that can

Give you a little bit of what they were from the three-point line as well as um some defense when you kind of go back and you just look at some of their highlights look at some of the stuff and I know that the highlights don’t tell

The whole picture believe me I know that but it does show you what their ability is you’re not going to find um as consistent highlights to go with the actual stats as well for guys like Killian Hayes his stats and his tape they show exactly what they are but when

You look at some of these other guys we look and they say man this guy’s only averaging six points this guy’s only averaging eight or nine points this guy’s only averaging like 10 points but when you look at their actual metrics their volume three-point shooting their defense their playmaking their

Athleticism then you start to see okay maybe if these guys get the right opportunities they can flourish Quinton Grimes his numbers went down a little bit this year but some of that can be uh attributed to the fact that last year he was getting close to 29 minutes per game

Where he was averaging 11 points per game and uh getting up a good volume of three-point shots this season it went down to like 20 21 minutes per game and his scoring average uh dipped below 10 so overall I like Quinton Grimes um obviously like I said we have to kind of

Address these and react to these and recap to what the Pistons actually did would I wanted them to go out there and try to make splash I think everybody would want them to but what exactly was that you know they kind of knocked on the door of Zack LaVine that would have

Been considered a splash they went and had some talks with toas Harris but why give up assets for a player who behind the scenes people are say hey he actually kind of wants to come back home or come back to the Detroit Pistons and his wife who’s from here would not mind

To return back home to be amongst her people and everything why give up those assets when you can just sign them in the off season you know you’re not going to make the play in this year you’re you you’re not going to ruin your draft positioning this year because you need

That draft pick to be as high as possible so you can make some other requisite moves or if you find the right young player you can make those trades as well but overall if I had to dve if I had to grade this uh trade deadline I

Would give it a c minus and I’ll tell you why I would have liked to see some more of the players that they got in return be players that I believe that they could plug in right away more than just the two you know I don’t know what

Evan forer is gonna give there was at a time where if you did this trade some years ago I’m like yo this is a pretty decent trade man these are some pretty decent returns so you know right now I don’t know man Quinton Grimes fonia fanto they they they don’t excite me but

I’m like okay I’m eager to see what they’re going to be able to bring to the table I see Ace Boogie I’m good on Tobias Harris don’t we have to drop like four of these dudes I know they waved Joe Harris and they waved Killian Hayes I think um for

The numbers I feel like they have to wave maybe two more players I believe I believe oh yeah I forgot about that Milton shake and uh Malachi Flynn as well so so Shake Milton and Malachi uh Flynn um are two other players as well I I I believe that they’re they’re rot

Players uh the Pistons probably added four or five rotation players and one of the things that I complained about openly and that’s a shout out to Blade no icewood as well that’s one thing oh yeah yep yep and they wav the Neil house as well so I

Think you know I think they got a wave like one or two more I gotta go back and check those numbers but I wanted to be able to jump on here as close to four as possible because the next Woodward sport show is coming on at five um uh let me

See here I think later on tonight we’re going to try and do a table talk and get some of our old cast and crew in here where we can even discuss this stuff a little bit more further about the trade deadline but yeah we have 15 now yeah so

Then they’re good then they’re good then Dwayne Pierce thank you for that bro I’m up definitely check that stuff out a little bit later but uh organic Lindo pretty odd to not add a stretch for or a big out of Boon BK’s trade at least get

Jericho s i i kind of talked about that as well earlier I told armania Edwards that I believed if they were going to trade both of those guys especially to the same team that you would have at least gotten something to plug that hole in the starting lineup and I believe

That that’s the four spot they needed either a legitimate stretch four or a two-way kind of wing that can play the four position similar like what Grant what Jeremy Grant was doing for us uh when he was here the first time but obviously you aren’t going to get a

Jeremy Grant type player but at least uh level player but at least somebody who can can play that style that’s what I wanted to see but what the Pistons did was this all year this was my complaint was that the Pistons didn’t make the right incremental moves all right they

Wanted to depend on guys like Boon Burks and Monte Morris but those guys were often just too injured and when they did play I liked what Monte Morris brought to the table but realistically a lot of these guys were just kind of injured um boam MCD donovich looked like a little

Bit different player than I remember him being last season um and I just I don’t know man it was just time to get somebody that I thought could play two ways both defense and offense and I do believe that three four of these guys they got in this rotation right now that

They’ve received uh over the last couple days can do that they’re not going to score at the clip that Alec Burks and B banovich can but I do believe they fit a little bit better with this young core and if those guys are those guys now that they have more rotation players in

The lineup that they can depend on this should bold better when you look at the Sacramento Kings game last night when you look at just how well Jay iy Jaylen dur and Marcus saster did that’s when it starts to speak that’s when it just starts speaking to your heart more that

Maybe all they do need is just some more rotation kind of younger rotation level guys NBA players guys who know how to play Within this NBA and in this NBA you need guys that can get to the rack you need guys that can not necessarily ISO everything but they can create on their

Own one of the things that used to frustrate with Killian Hayes was that okay you got these handles but sometimes looks like you’re dribbling to go nowhere and then when you do get into the lane you’re kind of putting up errant floaters or you’re getting to the

Rack and you’re not going up strong enough when I look at Quinton Grimes I see a guy who goes to the rack strong and finishes very very well he’ll dunk it if he has to dunk he can get into the air and do all of this type of stuff and

Get his layup off and that’s what I absolutely love about Quinton Grimes man with with uh you know um Simone you know you talking about a 68 guy who can shoot the three relocate well who can cut I’ve been screaming about that all season I’ve put in articles I’ve put it in

Videos cut cut cut cut cut like you got K Cunningham handling the rock attracting one two and three Defenders and nobody’s open except for on the three-point line that doesn’t make any sense to me man but now you got Quinton Grimes as well who’s going to cut you

Got some of these other guards who I believe are going to get into the lane you got some of these guys as well who they come in with a little bit of a chip on their shoulders as well mtj says we gave up too much for Grimes I don’t I’m

Not against that that thought I’m really not against that thought um let me see here organic Lindo keeping Flynn is interesting I like the logic of grind’s being as good or better than a first round pick in this draft hey Freddy what up though man what up though what up

Though booner Boon Squad man my brother what up though man what up though to all you guys you already know Jeff Boer Lucas Gentry uh love you guys man keep crushing and keep doing your thing uh proud you know of what you guys are trying to accomplish and um it’s always

Going to be love you already know that though we text on the on the regular East Side Johnny said Koolaid you’ve been around Troy right what is the actual plan last SE offseason all right let me say this because I can’t give away my guys sources and everything and I don’t

Want to get somebody in trouble let’s just say this Troy Weaver had some signings and some moves in mind that he wanted to do but he’s not the president of Bas operations and I don’t want to get myself in trouble here um there were some trades he wanted to make obviously

The one that actually hit the surface was Killian Hayes was supposed to get traded last summer he wanted to be able to bring in some more of the two-way stretch three stretch four type of things where you get kind of your three andd guys who can also play Big at The

Rim as well if you needed them to but a lot of of those moves got shut down and some of those moves were dictated by the hiring or lack thereof of the moves by the hiring of Monty Williams when you bring a Monty Williams he didn’t necessarily want to play a bunch of

Rookies Troy Weaver was trying to hire a coach which as a GM this man has had two coaches on his watch and has hired none of them he was interviewing three different coaches that he believed would fit the makeup of the team that he was putting together believing that he’d be

Able to go win and actually hire that coach as it got closer to making that decision and you guys remember when Kevin Ali put out that tweet and everybody thought yo he’s coming to Detroit and then all of a sudden it was wait a second the Pistons are actually

Talking to Monty Williams and then as soon as Monty Williams got here he started saying he started saying um effectively I like rotations to have a few more um veteran players involved that’s what he’s that’s what he began to say and that’s where when we began to

Ask about the selection of uh Marcus Sasser and the pickup of Monte Morris where he then unsolicited brought up Killian Hayes who at that point in time was one of was your longest 10year piston Killian Hayes he was the longest 10e piston at that point in time wasn’t

The oldest but had been there the longest out of all of the other draft picks and we were just it was just kind of weird it was like man I always thought he would be maybe on this iteration of Pistons a backup guard maybe to play along longside Marcus

Who’s more of a combo guard behind the backup behind the starters of Cade and Ivy but when you got a Monte Morris you would have thought that Monty Morris now is pushing Killian Hayes either down in the lineup or either they go with a three guard rotation off of the bench

You know what man I’m looking at the chats right now y’all are uh y’all are smart that’s what that’s all I’m gonna say y’all are smart y’all know exactly what the deal is already so there was some stuff that was supposed to happen it got kind of pushed back so now this

Summer ahead what I’m hoping is that Troy Weaver actually goes out there and um is able to kind of make some of the moves but with all of the guys that are kind of just gone signed with other teams already like I would have loved to

See either OG or Pascal come to this squad I would have loved that I would have loved that I would have loved that man oh man I would have loved that for this team but I they’re just out on that yes yes yes if y’all looking at the live

Chat y’all already know man and definitely hit that like button support the stream man hit the like button I appreciate you guys for being here but yeah y’all kind of getting the point there were certain players that were traded from here like jamy Grant who

I’ve heard I have to say it like that that I heard it was uh not necessarily Troy Weaver’s decision to trade him that they could have gotten Jaylen dur Alec Burks they could have gotten him by some other means it wasn’t necessarily his decision to trade him um

It was somebody else in the in the organization potentially who uh who didn’t want Jeremy Grant or didn’t think that he was going to pan out to be the the the player that uh he turned out to be with the Blazers three-point percentage went up his usage went down

Uh his field goal percentage went up his assists went up it was just like dog man and yep holl at Dre Grant was a dog and I know a lot of people say he’s already been here we already seen what jery Grant had Yad Yad y so they don’t really

Want him back but I still don’t think that he should have been the player traded and so as it relates to what I believe Troy is y’ y’all the chat is so is so smart I’m not even gonna put these things up on the screen I can’t but y’all already

Y’all are hit and I like that man y’all are hit trust me I will put this one up the front office has to figure themselves out I know that Tom Gore is affectively came out uh when he did his uh his press conference with select

Media and he stated you know kind of out front it’s just me and Troy Weavers me and Troy Weaver making these moves I’m hoping that from that point forward that yes it’s Troy Weaver and then he’s getting the decisions or the stamp of approval from Tom Gores to move forward

With his vision because I don’t believe that Troy Weaver’s Vision has had the opportunity to be enacted I just don’t he wanted this young core to be what was uh featured that’s what he wanted he wanted this young core to be featured hey shout out to you man thank you thank

You thank you man I appreciate you guys for real d I think that Troy Weaver wants an opportunity to be able to prove himself man I think he’s taken some Bullets Over the years uh just like I believe Dwayne Casey did too I thought DNE Casey was a

Good coach but that the roster wasn’t necessarily set up to do anything dwanne Casey made the playoffs here as a Pistons head coach when the roster was mid Blake Griffin gave his leg for it but the roster was mid man think about that and so it’s like you know but he

Took a lot of bullets once things turned over to the start of the restore and DNE Casey was actually one of the guys who looked at this roster and told the organization yo this roster with Blake Griffin and all this we’re not going anywhere guys we got to start this

Process over now you guys see D Casey out there scouting um both prospects you know draft prospects as well as um NBA players so where they go from here I hope that there’s a a stretch for it to have their eyes set on or that if they’re going to keep rolling with um

With Stu with which I don’t know how I don’t know how that works or doesn’t work I’m never going to count out Stewart Isaiah Stewart I’m not going to do that I do believe that he has a type of work ethic that type of streak in him

In which maybe he can find a way to become even more effective as a starter but I would much rather see him coming off the bench backing up Jaylen durren at the five position actually I believe that Isaiah Stewart against backup bigs is absolutely go to this you’re eating that’s lunch that’s easy

Money that’s just what I believe and I think it brings a complete element of toughness off your bench that sometimes the Pistons are lacking when they go to the bench so I uh hey just a fan thank you bro thank you koola you’re the best love you on wake up Woodward thank you

Guys for supporting that as well man it’s been a it’s been a fun first week of that show um who should we aim for this summer that’s actually what I’m going to be looking at now that all of this dust has kind of settled I’m going to be

Going through and looking at all of the contracts going through and looking at who’s going to be here next year because I’m hearing that fanto is supposed to be here next year I hear they believe they can bring him back on a pretty decent deal he’s going to be restricted free

Agent and uh I just want to kind of look at their roster first get a feel for what’s there and what’s not there and then kind of make that decision on uh giving you guys what I believe that they’re going to do moving forward uh I’m definitely going to probably if we

Get the table talk going tonight like around 7 o’clock I’m definitely going to talk about that as well with my guys hopefully I can get Shawn Murphy on here I know he has another stream at 8 that he might be joining as well tonight but um I definitely want to I definitely

Want to kind of dive into that man I definitely do but um yeah need that veteran leadership yeah but I wonder how much the Orlando Magic when I look at their rebuild they got some veterans on that team some kind of what I call uh young NBA vets those guys have been the

League maybe five six seven years but they’re not as old as Alec Burks and boan banovic those guys are guys who they’ve played in some playoff runs like Gary Harris uh Jonathan Isaac and such you got some guys who’ve kind of been in some pretty cool situations uh man I’m

Forgetting one who came from the Chicago Bulls uh that dando magic picked up as well I forgot his name I I can’t believe it his name just slipped because he’s a player that I used to want wend Carter wend Carter Jr who used to play on the

Bulls as well um they got those types of players that are kind of on the team who have also been around other typ of vets so now you got Paulo Ben Carol and you got France Vagner leading this charge though and that has to make everybody in the organization looked like H

Especially when you get beat by just those two players effectively look at that box score from the last Orlando Magic Detroit Pistons game just go ahead and look at that box score that’s where I always like folz once he got to Orlando yeah yeah that’s a player I

Wanted the Pistons to be able to take a flyer on man Marquel folz I was really hoping their name came up briefly and then just kind of went away but when you look at the Orlando Magics this is one that even I I got to kind of take my

Medicine on that one because there’s a lot of people out there who said why can’t our rebuild move forward like the Orlando Magic because that’s the one that it most closely resembles it used to resemble a little bit of the Houston Rockets but they went out there and they

Signed two kind of readymade players in Fred vanan vet and Dylan Brooks but Orlando Magic didn’t do that they went they took their number one pick and they took France Vagner uh who was uh drafted in the same draft as um K Cunningham and those guys are leading the

Charge that like like when we keep saying yo where the Pistons going from here what are they doing next I do want to see them go out there and get a stretch four I think that that will work perfectly on this squad but what we saw last night should

Be the iteration of what we see in these Pistons all the time let the young guys lead the way don’t Tinker with their minutes don’t Tinker with the rotations don’t allow these guys to be in a position to where they’re not really able to get chemistry let them go out

There and lead the way that’s it man yeah they’re young guys that played a lot of games together that is a big difference yeah but the guys that is really on is still Paulo B Caro and France Vagner that’s who it’s on right there some of their top picks from over

The last three or four years is who it’s on for the Orlando Magic and I do believe that the Pistons if they allow their guys to be then yeah imagine like we look at what Jay and iy did last last night right and a lot of us are going

Like oh man look at him I always knew he could do it but he wasn’t able to do that from the beginning of the season because he wasn’t getting the opportunity to play think about it he just he just wasn’t able to play we saw what Ivy

Became we saw what Kade was two years back to back both guards had the ball in their hand ran the show without really a requisite guard with them in the back court and both of them did pretty well this was supposed to be the season where they got their chemistry together we

Lost the year of that y’all that kind of pains my heart a little bit these two Dynamic guards who are like Fire and Ice who were more like speed Flash and methodical just kind of domination when K gets in that zone we lost effectively

A season of them being able to now for a second year being able to work together this was supposed to be the year where you find a way to make it work and Monty Williams came in with a completely different mindset about that I I scratch my head on that one you

Guys I really really really really really really do and so the biggest takeaway for me from this this trade deadline right now is that the Pistons are either a wanting to assess their roster now these young players because any major move they make cap space just

Don’t get you the right guys cap space doesn’t just go out there and just hey we’re sorry team with no direction we have some kind of nice players but we got this money right here that’s not going to attract anybody because a lot of these players that we’re talking

About like veteran type players they want to go to a situation where they know that they’re not wasting their clock they want to make sure that we’re not just coming here and now we have to effectively teach these kids how to play ball find a way where all these people

Fit together and all of a sudden it’s like okay yeah we it’s gonna be three years from now then we’ll be ready to make the playoffs this is a situation where Kay and Ivy got to be the guys where durren has to be that man child that we all believe he’s going to

Develop into where assar Thompson is going to be able to develop enough of an offensive game to make him completely playable based on how good his defense also is Marcus Sasser is gonna have to prove that he can be just as consistent a player as we’ve seen him be over like

The last two two and a half weeks we’re gonna have to see these guys put together consistent Run for the rest of the year that’s what we’re going to have to see these guys do and prove that they’re good enough Kade was a number one overall draft pick y’all those guys

Are supposed to come in and change the franchise Jay Navy was a number five overall pick Jaylen durren in a redraft should have been picked in the top five top six maybe as well assar Thompson’s a number five draft pick these guys this is what this trade deadline is saying to

Me that these are now the guys that got to prove what they are or what they aren’t and you know why it’s important because K Cunningham is gonna need a new contct contct soon and right after him guess who’s going to need a contract the year after them Jaylen

Duren and Jaden Ivy and then after them Marcus Sasser and assar Thompson if these guys don’t prove something right now it’s gonna be really really really Bleak and you’re gonna be looking at this squad having to start over all over again because if you lose Kade and if

You lose an ivy if you lose a durren You’ve Lost Your rebuild period and you give no hope to any of these other guys out there who you’re hoping to attract to this team that’s why Tobias Harris becomes one of the more popular names as it relates to

Free agency now because you’re now looking for players that want to be here that’s one of the kind of sad things about seeing Monte Morris go is that he’s one of those players that actually wanted to be here now you have to go out in free agency and he said but Kool-Aid

We can’t pay them all though no I know we can’t pay them all but why would k Cunningham resign here if the if the direction is rudderless we can’t pay them all but right now it’s trending towards us only really paying Marcus Sasser assar Thompson and Jaylen Duren

Because why would Kad and Ivy continue to sign up for this you know like if there’s only two or three of these players we can actually sign why would they keep signing up for this if the front office either a can’t put the right players on

This squad with them to get them to a winning culture or B these players prove themselves that they are the winners and that they are the culture that’s the whole point of it every year that that clock is ticking and Ticking and Ticking and Ticking man and that’s the issue man

That’s the real issue Elliot Novak said the truth hurts the truth does hurt man and I’m trying to be as real as I possibly can you know as I’m getting more comfortable in my role as I’m understanding a little bit more of the information and how to

Handle the information that I do get from being on the beat and uh the fact that realistically I represent you all in terms of your voice as well as representing the reporting coming from the organization it’s put me more in the position where I am I can be honest with

You a lot more confident about talking about the the Stark realities that were’re at in all of the places that I think they kind of made some wrong moves or some Right Moves because I’m not disrespecting nobody personally I’m not out here to to to call Monty Williams a

Bad person because he just doesn’t know how to handle this young roster that’s just coaching Mel feens that’s just you know you’re going to have to learn you’re going to have to grow you got 10 year contract and the majority of your roster is guys on rookie contract

Deals or on their second contracts now that’s your roster man if you can’t find a way to deal with that then we have a problem and we got to talk about that I have to write about that I can’t come up here with hund so many people in the

Chat and just be like oh no put the on trusting Troy Monty Williams best coach on the market blah blah blah like man bro we’re Detroit fans dog and we’ve been through this too long way too long we saw Brad Holmes Dan Campbell Sheila Chris spilman Mike dner the CEO COO of

The Lions we saw these guys step in handle business right away and guess what we saw them do can we can we re um rely on their young players think about just the players drafted in the Brad Holmes era pan I’m in Ross Brown jir Gibbs rookie Brian Branch

Rookie we’re talking about players that play Big freaking roles within three seasons man we’re on year four Jack Campbell J Mo as the year started to go on iffy that’s what I’m talking about that’s what I’m talking about that’s what I’m talking about he said do I support the two big starting

Lineup I do not I do not I do not not in this NBA if you go back to maybe 12 years ago yeah I’m trying to think man it might have to even be back further than that it might have to be back further than that but like we’re detroiters man we’re

Fans of Detroit sports a lot of us kind of I grew up where it was like bro I saw the Pistons I saw the red Wings have a parade I saw the Pistons have a parade I I I remember being young enough to where my grandparents just putting

The 8990 backtack finals hats on my head like even Grant Hills era bro like at least they were making the playoffs man at least they were making the playoffs we’ve never been in a situation in my opinion where the Detroit Pistons were hopeless this long you talking 15

Years 20 years since the last championship and 15 years of just directionless not just basketball but leadership Direction and guidance that’s just far too long man you can’t really nah so now it’s to the point where it’s just like either these young guys pan out and they are those

They are that deal or you’re gonna have to do something like partying with one or two of these young players that you’ve drafted that still have some value in conjunction with whatever second round picks whatever your first round pick might be whatever your cap space might be and you got to get

Something done you got to get somebody in who can make a difference East Side Johnny gonna put the dates in there H that hurts y’all look at that man look at that man from 2008 to 2024 it’s been utter directionless basketball I still remember the day they traded choni

Bips I still remember that day it wasn’t over when Ben Wallace left the year before or or or the the um in 2005 after they won the championship it wasn’t over they still were a good team they still could have put some pieces together but since that Chanty bips trade it’s almost

Like we’ve been cursed hey Chanty please bro Chanty bips if you’re out there I know you’re the Portland Trailblazers coach I know that we about to play you man please can you please remove the hex that was placed on our organization when we traded you please please you know we

Some real fans out here you know we some real ones you know we support please you know we deserve better we sold out I don’t know how many games in a row well over 250 270 games in a row I believe oh that’s disgusting Sebastian the Pistons have lost over 700 games since

They traded Mr big shot Troy is doing no different than Brad Holmes yeah he’s he’s getting the right young players in the difference is Brad Holmes also made in my opinion some Savvy moves to bring in some of the right veteran players to surround it and

They got the right coach they got the right coach I don’t know if they have the right coach though this is just in from my guy Mike Curtis I knew that this was goingon to wind up happening while they try to settle some of these trades but two-way guards Jared Rhoden and Stanley

Amud will join the Pistons in Portland tonight just because they don’t have the guards in the back court my assumption is that Stanley Amud probably plays a little bit more than Jared Roden if the trends continue the same way that they’ve been both of those guys can kind

Of hit their threes so it’ll be it’ll be something Brad was allowed to do his job oh man when tan Prince left yeah James RIS I feel you on that one um but kind of going back to that if Weaver doesn’t make Koolaid his successor then I’m

Out I respect that right I I respect that and and just to recap this again for some of the people that came in late thoughts on the new players the favorite my most favorite players that I like out of everybody that the Pistons acquired are Quinton Grimes and Simone fentuo

Those are the two guys that I’m looking at as three in D type players um Quinton Grimes as a two guard he’s to me like an upgrade a significant upgrade over Killian Hayes plays defense finishes at The Rim strong can handle the rock can get to the rack can dribble Drive can

Assist a little bit he actually cuts and moves on offense when he doesn’t have the ball and Sone fio you talk about a good spot up three-point shooter who could also relocate so when the pick and roll goes and his help Defender turns and just just to look a little bit to

See where Kade is he likes to relocate behind that guy find the open spot on the three-point line and splash if you look at some of his highlights he’s hitting that three-pointer as well with people trying to defend him with hands in their faces and all of that he also

Has the ability to pump fate Sone and get into the midrange but he doesn’t settle in that mid-range he’s a guy that likes to try and get all the the way to the basket I’ve seen him get in trouble sometimes like that um but he is a guy

Who likes to get all the way to the basket if he can I don’t know much about his playmaking ability but he is a guy who likes to try and mix it up a little bit with rebounds and I like the way that he plays defense as well 68 a

Little bit wider Wings span than uh Quinton Grimes obviously because he’s a little bit taller but both of those guys they try on defense and um they can make the three at a pretty decent clip 4.7 attempts per game for Simone uh this year I think it’s like

3.9 attempts per game for um I might be a little off on that but for Quinton Grimes somewhere between three and a half and 3.9 attempts three-point attempts per game and he’s hitting about 36% of those threes has a good-looking shot but his opportunity this year went

Down and you’ll see if you look at his box score you’ll notice his minutes went from 29 a game last year down to about 2021 this year and that kind of affected his points per game um but his efficiency overall kind of stayed about the same

So yeah all right it’s 5:00 now I know that the heavy weights are coming on over at Woodward sports right now if you guys could please definitely in the actual comments not in the live chat but in the actual comments um put in there who is your favorite player from this

Trade uh draft this trade deadline um give me your grade as well for Troy Weaver at this deadline and definitely hit that like button I’m going to try and come back around 700 and give another stream if I can I’m G see if I can assemble the gang Maybe K Crusader

Will make an appearance as well maybe we get Shan Murphy with the voice box and all of that stuff going so we can have a good old fun time because y’all are like fan man I’ve appreciated the audience and the uh kind of family that we’ve

Built over here for a long time but um overall like I said I I I’m giving it about a c minus I see Ryan my guy Ryan’s reaction he’s pretty well balanced man of a person just in terms of his opinions and whatnot he’s going with a c

And I can’t be mad at that as well we excited for ginari you know what if we’re going to include them I’ll bump that up to a seat if we’re going to include Mike muscala and Danilo galinari I’ll bump that up to a seat since the Pistons have traded for those two

Players they are actually four and seven and it’s nothing to write home about but when you consider the fact that they only had three wins Total in almost half a season before that three and like 20 something three and 30 something versus four and seven just adding two decent

Shooters stretch kind of bigs stretch three stretch fours you see the impact that that made on this team so I’m hoping that you know adding in Simone adding in Quinton Grimes taking out kilan Hayes from the lineup um you know you you wonder how much boan bonov and

Alec burs is gonna hurt the offense but I think the Pistons have enough guys that can search for their own shots and Ivy Marcus Sasser K Cunningham I don’t think you need too many more people from the guard position looking for their own shots and all of a sudden you got those

Three players playing then you’re bringing in boan and Alec Burks I just think it’s just too many people who need the ball in ISO typ roles to really really take advantage of what you have on the outside um with the shooters they have a few more Shooters around them

Right now they have um a few more kind of like I said NBA rotation level players bro they were playing before consistently people like James wisman and Isaiah livers who were they’re just not NBA rotation guys to me they just weren’t Killian Haye he just didn’t need to be in his

Rotation you’re replacing those guys now with guys who played some pretty decent roles you know like I said Sone was starting Quinton Grimes was playing big minutes that’s that’s the difference and they were making their three-pointers these are huge difference makers as it relates to what we were playing they’re

Not the splash but over what we were playing they’re going to make a little bit of a difference so I appreciate you guys being here man my name is Brandon Dent AKA Detroit Kool-Aid definitely you can find me on Twitter Instagram you can follow me here at wber Pistons as well

I’m going to try and be a lot more consistent on here now as some things in my life are starting to settle down like I told you before wifey had the baby we finally made our move soon I’m G have my whole setup behind me right I’m gonna

Get my new lights and all that stuff in here and uh we’re gonna talk hoops man I’m gonna try and be as real as I possibly can be I don’t really uh now that I feel like you know it’s my third season you guys covering the Detroit

Pistons my third season my fourth season is on the way I’m starting to really really really feel like uh like like a like some type of a vet like I’m about to be off of my my first contract now I’m going into my second off my rookie

Deal going into my second contract uh in the league man um definitely tap in with wake up Woodward Monday through Fridays 8 through1 I am a host there all of our Pistons segments um is my baby a Pistons fan oh you already know it you already

Know it man you already know it man I’m about to go out and get the jerseys get the little socks with the logos on them and everything man I wish had it prepared already but life has been crazy y’all between moving new shows new things happening and all that type of

Stuff so definitely am I coming down for to Indie for the allstar game I was going to I was going to I’m still trying to see if I can work that out but uh baby mama you know wife you might need me here with the baby her

Recovery is going better than our last two pregnancies which put her life on the line but um she’s hurting still a little bit too much here and um just depending on how she feeling as we get closer to that date we’ll kind of determine that but um you know Freddy if

I’m down there you already know I’m hitting you up bro you already know man you one of the biggest supporters supported me through the Lions season if you guys don’t know I did join the Lions coverage this year with Woodward Sports as well so it’s been uh it’s been a fun

Time man I’m trying to really represent Detroit I’m trying to make sure I’m out there uh in the streets where the people are um I am going to bring back um my microphone and my setup and everything as well so that we can uh at to LCA so

If you have LCA come and find me I’m usually by Concourse 5 um and I I try to make sure I interview the fans man ask you guys what brings you out still to the Pistons what your passion is for them and get you guys featured man I know that uh my

Parent company right now taking some heat but um overall I’m just trying to make sure that the people get their uh their content um overall make sure the people can be featured overall make sure the people can kind of hear directly I’m going to be one of those people that

Interact on Twitter you know I’m going be one of those people that interact on Instagram I’m be one of those guys that put my opinions out there even if it winds up wrong in the future I just want to be as real and as true as I can be to

You guys and vice versa so thank you guys so much for being here man definitely like I said like the stream share the stream um put in the comments not in the live chat but in the actual comments uh who’s your favorite player from this um from this uh trade deadline

And give me your grade on Troy Weaver I’m going try and include all those in a Graphics so definitely love you guys man all blessings in the world to you all thank you for your support as always peace out man I’ll talk to you guys uh next time

  1. We need a new coach Monty doesn't like young players. Plus he's the reason we didn't trade Killian in the Summer when we could have gotten something for him.

  2. Troy Millen strikes again. A once proud franchise perpetually entombed at the bottom of the NBA standings. FIRE TROY YESTERDAY

  3. This franchise is the worst in the league. I’m ashamed to be a pistons fan today. What’s the direction here? Fonteccio? ( whom I’ve never heard of and you haven’t either) Grimes? Shake Milton? I wasn’t born yesterday bro. This absolutely sucks! Killian was a 7th pick. Waived? Tired of playing make believe. This franchise is in disarray. Second round picks for a 20 point scorer who shoots 40 percent from 3? For burks who shoots 40 percent? F grade! Gores is the worst owner in sports. Weaver is the worst gm in sports and Monty Williams is an awful coach.

  4. This is the result of waiting too long to make moves that should have been made a while ago. Monty is supposed to help Cade and Ivey or the core four work together and not one on and one off or play to the one players comfort zone at the risk of the team as a whole

  5. Thank you for explaining the Pistons hierarchy! Makes more sense if Weaver is having to make decisions with his hands tied behind his back. It makes if
Monty was pushed on Weaver from upper management

  6. I would have liked to see us go get Cam Whitmore, I think he is still under valued and would be a perfect fit with the players in our core. He is athletic and can really shoot it from deep.

  7. This trade feels just blah and above all salary dumps. We haven’t traded for a star since Blake, and he was basically washed shortly after he joined the Pistons. I wish the Lions front office could show Weaver and Monte how to get this team moving in the right direction.

  8. I give the moves a B. The fit of the Grimes, Brown, and Simone combined with Ausar is an A. The area on the Pistons everyone complained about was the wing rotation. That is no longer an issue now. Guess what else these 3 don't need the ball in their hands to be effective. They can catch and shoot. That's where Detroit has found offensive success with Cade and Ivey. These two are now the offensive engines for the team. Then you add on the fact that they all play D now you have balance and the pieces fit. It take pressure off of Cade and Ivey. Most importantly Duren because he can now focus on rim protection and rebounding and not having to making up for the turnstile that Bojan was. Now you have 4 wings who can guard opposing offenses. Now you Detroit can truly evaluate the core 4. I believe that these moves will truly unlock Cade, Ivey, and Duren. Williams looks to his bench and now he has a defenders to help stop those crazy runs that seem to always happen to Detroit. Now imagine the issues that an Ausar and Grimes can create on defense. These moves aren't name moves. They are culture moves toward a more defensive minded team. Yes you take a step back on offense but if this works out. You got 3 quality wings for the future, a top 5 pick, and CAP in the off season where the second apron is about to force a lot of teams to shed talented players off their teams. I see the vision can Troy execute it is the question. Just my thoughts.

  9. We’re so much better defensively and now it’s Cade, jaden as the focus of the offense. With solid 3and d wings

And recouped a bunch of #2’s

    Not horrible tbh

  10. The moves made since Gores had his "pow wow" with the media, doesn't it fell like the players that he's traded for fit what you say he was trying to do last summer? If so maybe we can cross our fingers that he's being allowed to do things his way….. Great live cast… My Critical comment though sir…. unscheduled live casts you really need to announce them on twitter better, only caught the one last night because Broder shouted ya out…. otherwise i can't complain about a thing you do… love to interact with you in the chat….

  11. I'll give it a C. Favorite player Fontecchio. Adds length, 3pt shooting, defense, aggressiveness. Jazz started winning games when Markkanen was placed on the injury list and Simone was named the starter. I think the Pistons will be okay on offense, especially if they cut down their turnovers, it's the defense that concerns me the most. And I do believe they improved at that. I hope the bench will be productive, that's also been a major part of Pistons many losses, and guys like Milton, Fournier, have proven in the past that they can score.

  12. What kind of splash did these delusional fans expect? We had no one available any team even valued was worth a first rd pick let alone a star caliber player. Y'all are wild with your expectations

  13. How do you make a trade like this and not include Troy Weaver in it?

I mean the guy is cutting his lottery picks 3 years out.
Get this bum out of Detroit, yesterday.
Its not personal hes just not good athis job…end of story

  14. Bro Congrats on your new kid. Bro you're doing a great job! Love and Respect your Honesty! I was right about the organization kneecapping Coach Casey. Sadiq nor Grant never should've been traded.

  15. Hey bud, first time listening and I liked your calm calculated analysis about all this. Starters should be Ivey, Grimes, Cade, Fonteccio, and Duran. Bench is Sasser, Brown, Ausar, Stewart, Muscala.

  16. I wish you guys would stop acting like Troy Weaver has not had the green light to make these weak ass moves! He dressed 10 young guys every game under 6 years (Cade 3yrs, Ivey 2yrs, Duran 2yrs, Stewart 4yrs, Hayes 4yrs, Thompson R, Sasser R, Livers 3yrs, Wiseman 4yrs and Bagley 6 yrs) in the league and wondered why they couldn't win games with this weak ass AAU Team in the NBA!

The only move he was not allowed to make was to hire Kevin Ollie which would have been a horrible move to have a first year Head Coach over these young ass players!

This is why you kept hearing Monty say (even after last nights game vs the Kings) that he can't say enough about Burks leadership to calm down Ivey and Sasser. As good as both of them are they all need (including Cade) a veteran player next to them to calm them down in crunch time. That's why Monty started Hayes becuse he didn't turn the ball over and he played under control. I love Cade and Ivey but they both do a lot of dumb turnovers and the Pistons keep loosing games with way too many turnovers. But PLEASE STOP ACTING LIKE CADE AND IVEY HAVE NOT HAD THE GREEN LIGHT! Bojan and Burks tried to help this weak young ass team try to win games and we should not have gotten less than equal value for both of them and not bums in return from the Knicks! All Troy Weaver did was help the Knicks advance further in the Playoffs and the Pistons got worse!!!!

  17. I want to give you your props for this video. I was on you about some of your takes recently questioning the team outlook but this take is spot on. People try and view the Pistons through the square box outlook of many of the other teams assuming they are in the same place. Troy Weaver is victim of, what many front office members are (especially when Black), having to go along the bidding of an owner interjecting their perspective or that of one of their ‘good-ol-boys’ despite the warnings or direction proposed by more skilled front office members hired to make those decision. This team was never going to be “good” and were always, as Weaver stated at the beginning of the season, still rebuilding through assessing their talent and figuring out who they are exactly going to begin building around. They have now done that, Cade/ Ivey/ Duren/ Ausar/ Sasser are the core and they have shipped out the aging vets for younger ones who can fill those roles to support that core. They don’t need more assets, in terms of picks and players to be traded, they need time to build continuity, an identity, and a pecking order of roles the team can buy into. If they end the season with a clear understanding of this then Weaver and Monty have had a successful season.
