Picks in a second round you know last time we asked for two second round picks this time we’re only asking for one oh no you don’t want to take it okay well scratch that team off the list or if you’re trading for the trading for someone vice versa I mean that’s not how

Championships matter like that’s not a goal for this organization whether I mean I don’t know why some of it I think is Money Motivated some of it might just be a self-limiting belief I don’t know but that bothers me because this rebuild to me is all about trying

To accumulate assets and get to a point where we have a chance to win a championship down the line and I just have never felt like Joe Cronin and Jody Allen and the people in charge of things here in Portland are aligned in that mindset I I feel like they don’t have

That mindset and listening to Cronin talk I feel like he has that mindset because if you had that mindset you wouldn’t be sitting here saying I’m really happy with how everything’s gone we’re 15 36 but you know just get better each day and then hopefully we can have

A sustainable build but we were trying to get players like you need you need to accumulate assets you’re in asset accumulation mode and you don’t even realize it you’re thinking you’re in oh I just need to you know build this team towards contention by just adding

Players you’re not going to be able to add enough players to get to contention without being able to accumulate assets because at the end of the day this team needs to trade for a legitimate stud right and they need a bunch of draft picks SL young players Etc to do so or

They need to draft a legitimate stud and I mean like a top 20 player mhm and the more draft picks you have the more chances you have it drafting a top 20 player right y even in a bad draft 2013 was a bad draft the bucks with the 15th

Pick got yanmo right so even a bad draft having multiple chances at a top 20 player long term is good now obviously you can’t draft you know 30 players like there’s there’s diminishing returns at a certain point but you can trade picks into future years you draft guys you

Evaluate them over a year or two guys don’t pan out you you know cut them flip them whatever do whatever you got to do with them take more chances through the draft if you’re not going to trade those picks that’s the mode they’re in they’re in asset accumulation mode and and uh

That’s basically what real rebuilding teams are trying to do and it’s like man you don’t even realize you’re in a rebuild even though that’s the direction you chose it’s like we traded Dame but we’re still in the two timeline thing it makes no sense like what why literally when we with

That trade it was like okay the Silver Lining is okay well they finally picked a direction I think I said that when they traded Dame yeah they finally picked a direction we don’t have to do this two timeline crap anymore like we can just Embrace a rebuild collectively

Just and have fun through draft whatever and go that route and unfortunately can’t even do that still two timelines very strange and and once again yes you need vets at some point you you do need vets but once again they don’t have to be vets that play 30 or how many minutes to

Play tonight like 45 yeah um where you just literally run every offensive possession through them and you still lose to Detroit a short-handed Detroit team we don’t need those type of veterans and if if that is your concern is having those type of veterans I mean this rebuild is doomed

It’s it’s already screwed because we don’t have the person in charge that has the balls to make the necessary moves to fully commit to it he’s they they run the team scared they’re scared to do anything that will make them worse they’re scared to do any take a risk

That makes them better um they’re they’re just going to they’re just going to play the middle and and hope it pans out and it’s never going to as long as they continue down that route you have to you have to realize right this SE this season last

Off season Once you decided Dame was was uh moving on and all that kind of stuff you had to take a step back there wasn’t you just you can’t decide to try and be okay and do all that kind of stuff we we talked about this even with Dame and CJ

That year after Lamarcus left that end up being the worst thing possible for the Blazers and same with Atlanta right Atlanta makes this Eastern Conference Finals run and they think they’re they’re way further along than they were same thing happened to us probably and um and then from there on

You you you act like you’re further along than you are and you don’t build the right way and then it just Flames out in a disaster and that’s where we’re headed once again and the worst part about this is this is exactly the situation I did not want to be in where

We traded Dame and we’re in this situation where we’re like we’re not building towards making it better and that was what we heard for years right we’re never going to win with Dame we got to trade him so we can build this thing right okay so all you who said

Trade him this off season and they’re going to go out there and they’re going to try and um make a move for somebody to make the team a little bit better maybe trade the Golden State pick right and attach it to who knows attach it to thyo and Robert Williams

And go out and try and get like a $20 million a year player um and since you’re not drafting with that pick I think they’d be below the tax and they go out and get a you know a little bit of an upgrade somebody to start at the three maybe or the four

Next to Jeremy and that’s what they do and they try and make a playin spot next year and they say you know what look at us we’re in the playin now but we have a really young core we have a really young core they play sharp at some three they

Hope scoot has a second-year breakout so they can say we made the play in but look how young we are we’re still the sixth youngest team in the league so just give us a few more years and uh we’ll be right there we’ll be right there but when Aldridge left the Blazers

Made the second round of the playoffs in Dame’s first year without LA and that team was very young if I recall correctly but it didn’t have upside on it because a lot of they Young guys were only ever going to be role players and Dame needed another star caliber player

Next to him and never got that and they didn’t have the assets to get that so well we had some cap space that summer and we signed Evan Turner yeah I mean that’s that’s the other you know that’s a perfect example of of thinking you’re ahead of the curve and you sign Evan

Draft with those picks I mean maybe you’re lucky enough that one of those Milwaukee swaps maybe in 2028 maybe Milwaukee is sucks and that’s the number one pick or the number two pick or the number three pick and then somebody that’s ready to come in right away and

Can join your young core help them win while you’re a playoff team but then be a part of like a of a tender for years to come and you have a dynasty potentially that’s the only chance the Blazers have in my opinion that ever having a dynasty is to go that route so

Mcculler I’m putting Dalton connect far above Kevin mcculler on my board yeah simply because I trust his floor I trust his role player ability as a guy that can shoot move off the ball um finish with either hand finish under control like I think he has a lot of NBA finishes in his

Arsenal but at the very least he’s going to be a shooter yeah so um and then the other thing is jacobe Walter last nine games uh one for five two for five one for six 0 for five three for seven two for nine one for two one for six one for

Five from three yep all these top prospects are struggling shooting the three ball that’s why it’s strange man MH that’s why this draft is difficult at the top um and all of a sudden Castle’s hitting threes like crazy yeah so could Castle play his way back up into the oh Absol I

Think anyone can do anything at this point yeah so Castle was starting to put together some really good games and he was looked at is like a borderline top five pick to start the season got hurt struggled barely did anything now he’s starting to put together a lot of good

Performances for Yukon who’s still one of the best teams in the country you also got kinging on that team so that’s another team to watch to scout to lottery picks projected right there um Castle’s a guy where I’m curious about his size like if he’s big enough to play

Three consistently having a three that can create and pass a little bit and with his traits Eric that’s kind of intriguing to me I don’t trust that he’s 66 though but if he’s like actually 66 you could talk me into him for the Blazers if we got rid of Malcolm Brogden

Because I’d rather if we’re going to have a guard I’d rather have a guard that can play small forward so that you could play them with the other guards and then you hopefully it’s a guy that can play on or off the ball and you just got multiple guys that can make plays

That’s intriguing offensively to me um if he can bring the ball up the floor with Shane sharp and Scoot in the wings you know ant in sharp ant and Scoot that’s intriguing so Stefon Castle will be paying attention to his measurements measurements this year I I’m going to

Pay more attention to than any other year because I think some of them are ridiculously let’s go and everybody has to measure so looking forward to that um Dillingham continues to just amaze me with some of his performances six for eight against Tennessee then follows that up four for five from three against

Vanderbilt had 35 against Tennessee in 27 minutes Eric he comes in and just like he’s one of those guys where he shoots a three ball and you just expect it to go in every time yep like you’re more surprised when he misses and he shoots off the run and yeah it’s not
