People forget this but Heat Culture descends from Pat Riley’s Knicks era, which itself was a reaction to Pat getting fired by the Lakers (led by Magic — this is too far back for most of the younger Reddit fans to know/remember) for not being able to solve Chuck Daly’s defense.
I bring this up because it’s essentially overcompensating bullshit. Riles couldn’t solve Chuck Daly’s defense, which ended Showtime, so his solution was to basically recreate the Pistons Bad Boys in New York.
Unfortunately for Pat, Ewing was 90’s Embiid and couldn’t beat MJ (MJ owned so much psychic real estate in Pat’s mind that Pat retired MJ’s number in Miami) but boy did they try.
The thing Pat couldn’t seem to understand was that the Bulls had already solved that particular problem and so thug defense was never really going to work on them.
Then he hightailed it out of New York (for money) and did his Miami thing and he had Zo as his proto Heat Culture guy. So there is essentially a philosophical line from those Pistons teams to the current Heat.
As a Celtics fan that really became aware of hoops in the 80’s, I loathed those Pistons. They were evil incarnate on the hardwood and Laimbeer was just bush league personified. He was such an evil dick that Parish literally clocked him and the refs didn’t even throw him out of the game (maybe realizing that Laimbeer deserved it).
So really, this Heat Culture thing is really just ersatz Pistons Bad Boy Culture and if, as a Celtics fan, you find yourself detesting it … well, it’s in our DNA as Celtics fans.

They should have one for the fans:
Fair weather. Most complaints. Front running. Leave early. Softest, pettiest, whiniest Bunch of crybabies in NBA fandom

This is what happens when heat culture encounters Celtics pride

“Best conditioned” followed by “Toughest. Meanest.” is so funny. Even Heat culture doesn’t know what it wants to be.

Last year during game 6 of the playoffs I was on vacation in south Florida out to eat and a guy in a Heat jersey walked in and he smelled bad. So that’s about how I feel about the “Nastiest team”
