Kristaps Porzingis will CARRY the Celtics into the postseason! – Chiney Ogwumike | NBA Countdown

Hey welcome inside our Los Angeles Studio alongside the peer list Stephen A Smith the Hall of Famer Michael wilbon the one and only CH auma I’m Malika Andrew the Boston Celtics they lead 59-50 against the Miami Heat without Jimmy Butler remember he continues to deal with a family issue the threes were

Something we were talking about coming into this the Celtics shoot eight of 20 from three in the first half what do you make of that well listen I don’t you know they didn’t look like they would just jacking up threes obviously we saw with those highlights with poor zingas

They were attacking the basket they were dunking the basket ball of course Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown were shooting 50 and and 60% respectively from the field this is what you want to see if you are a Boston Celtics fan there’s no doubt about that but it’s it’s expected

Because there’s no Jimmy Butler there and so when you look at the Miami Heat being short-handed it’s still a good game we get all of that but Boston is ahead as they should be yeah I think what will really separate the Celtics and get them back to the finals where

They want to go is chrisps porzingis he is The X Factor for them him being a rim protector is great but him also being a shot Creator is even better I mean look at him he’s seven feet Yes Stephen A he dunks because he’s tall look at this

Right here but the truth is is that when he plays well they are virtually unbeatable especially in the East because he just unlocks an aspect of the game where everyone can attack so don’t fall in love with a three keep attacking especially when you’re going up against

A smaller team but we’ll see what they do in the postseason because he will be the one that will carry them there even though Jason Tatum Jaylen Brown will get a lot of the love Stephen A I I think we’re slowly persuading Chen I think we’re slowly moving her back to the mark

On a diversified Celtic attack this is like a stock portfolio it is they’re going to need and they’re going to need that come spring look the Celtics aren’t playing for now they’re not even it’s not even like the Western Conference where you got teams already in a position of

Having to win Golden State Warriors last night needing to win already the Celtics aren’t in that position but porzingis is that X-Factor Stephen and I got into it a little bit yesterday cuz I’m differentiating X Factor from most important player that is still Jason t T

Yes and then next it is still so it’s brown and Tatum Tatum and brown yeah but you’re right about por because both of you are right in terms of what he brings I was skeptical when they made that deal in part because of Health with the Wizards he’ only played 36 games the

Previous year he has been in the lineup this is a k to Anthony Davis when those guys are healthy and playing their teams are very very difficult well speaking of folks in Boston on radio roll you know this past week they were very excited about the porzingis acquisition they

Thought it was a significant upgrade to Markus smart I thought in big game situations that the lifeblood of that franchise which is Marcus SM that would have been a welcomed addition as well you’d love to see him back there with the crew that they presently have but

Clearly 73 you can block shots you can shoot about 40% from three we can’t ignore what that’s going to bring to the table for the Boston Celtics but again you’re going to need to do that as the competition stiffens and we’ll see if he does it we can’t tell a lot today cuz

You can’t judge Miami until right postseason but I do think I mean Miami has had a pretty balanced performance here 11 from bamat bio 11 11 from Terry Rosier it’s only a nine-point game so what are you looking at with Miami yeah I mean bam has to do it all

He’s their Allstar and I really like how he’s performed so far this season but I do think that unfortunately the squeeze the juice that they squeezed out last year I don’t know if it’s going to be there this year even though there’s opportunities at the top of the Eastern

Standing it sort of feels like this is the bread it’s the year of the Knicks kind of at least that’s right e fr Celtics play defense I mean last time they played Miami I mean Miami didn’t play any defense Celtics blitzed them they playing defense today but it

Doesn’t matter Celtics those are the team that’s the team and the New York Knicks on the for the Miami Heat they always take these matchups against Cs on the mix a little bit hak is throwing it down he’s certainly been a bright spot for Miami this season Cavs lose Donovan

Comes to New York Win Win try what I pull [Applause] [Applause] up

Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon and Chiney Ogwumike join me at halftime between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat to describe what we’ve seen thus far from both sides while speaking on the importance of Kristaps Porzingis with the Boston Celtics.

  1. Great countdown and halftime. Love Wilbon❤❤❤ Chiney great with all the journalists on board today. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Great game‼️

  2. Wilbon said KP played “36 games last year” he played 65… already blaming health as a reason for a team to not be successful is already a LAZY assessment but to be wrong by that margin… cmon

  3. The biggest concern is, Jayson Tatum can contribute in many ways and needs to do what is needed for the team to win but doesn't do that. Shooting 37% yet takes 120 shots over 6 finals games from the same spot was painful to watch. Someone from the coaching staff needs to explain to him it's unwise to do the same thing horribly over and over to the point that even the opponent is giving you that shot and being concerned about getting the finals MVP more than doing the things your team needs to win.

  4. I think they were confusing the 36 games he played with the wizards the previous year after he was traded from Dallas.

  5. KP definitely makes the Boston the title favs but let's not act like KP is an all star lol…. this is clearly JT and JBs team… you can replace KP with someone like Lauri Markkanen and still achieve the same success. Boston has two superstars and solid role players like KP.

  6. Don't idolize one player, rather enjoy the equal contribution of all team players to the game. No one is a cyborg and everyone can have periods where the performance will not be as good as we are used to seeing.

Such worship of one player can psychologically destroy a team.

  7. KP is the X factor coz he the only guy who can match JT and JB in scoring.. all they need is just focus on defense and Celtics can win it all
