@Toronto Raptors

The prophecy has come true and it only took a few weeks.

Scottie’s got to figure stuff out. Some of the posts on here (and tweets from our beloved Raptors media) are wild. Wish you guys would let a young player do so without calling him terrible and questioning the rebuild around him after 3 weeks.

People thought we”d still be good after blowing it up lol

  2. ABlushingGardener

I’m aligned with your point but I’m not sure you understand this meme.

  3. FallenLemur

Crazy how toxic some of the fan base can become.

  4. Ok-Net9433

This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. These types of fans will complain about anything.

They wanted the rebuild to grow Scottie’s game and to keep out top 6 pick.. but are now upset we are losing games, and that the full-time point Scottie experience comes with flaws.

  5. Oozeinator

Almost like 430k people come with a lot of opinions.

Expand that out to the entire Raps fan base and it’s really not hard to understand why we’re always on the exaggerative end of every reaction.

    We’ll be fine.

  6. This sub Reddit is a cult though, 2.5 years of nonstop excuses for Barnes lol..
He is a good player, but almost clear at this point he will never be a 1 option on a great team

  7. exemptolive

Scottie Barnes is Shawn Marion and you can’t convince me otherwise

  8. EarthWarping

I blame Masai more than anyone else for letting it get to this point with the roster.

(Scottie has to be better though)

  9. Raptorsthrowaway1

There’s a subsection of this fan base that is addicted to hating on this teams players, coaching staff and front office. With Siakam, Nick and Fred gone the vultures were always going to come for Scottie

However, the criticism he has been getting for his attitude since the start of this year is absolutely valid. That needs to be brought under control and I hope they sit him for a game after walking off early last night

We’re literally a quarter of a season into a rebuild retool and people are losing their mind. We are aiming for 26-27 here people this takes growth and time

  11. Several_Airport_9503

Such toxicity. We should support our boys

  12. gregbraaa

People want Year 3 Scottie to score better, defend better, lead better than Year 8 Pascal did

  13. charmanderaznable

Thank God the criticism is protecting Scottie from pascal

  14. The most predictable outcome as soon as Scottie got game planned as a first option. There will be good nights and bad nights. These things take time.

  15. Batman_in_hiding

This fanbase hypes players up to extreme levels then get confused and angry when expectations aren’t lived up to.

Any criticism or worries about Scottie were treated like hearsay and instead blamed on other factors (coaches, older vets, roster construction). Now that all those factors have been eliminated fans irresponsibly believed Scottie would instantly become something he’s not.

I truly don’t understand what this sub wants

Whomever thinks his maturity and effort level issues aren’t very concerning is more of a Scottie Barnes fan than a Raptors fan. Remember when people flamed Siakam for doing exactly what Scottie did last night? Keep the same energy.

  17. PlumCantaloupe

Hopefully it is just growing pains as Pascal walked out once too (and was suspended a game for it).

Scottie came into a place yelling about “winning,” didn’t win, and now everything he grew up with in three years has been completely changed. Scottie has a lot to learn and figure out as a #1 when throughout his career on large stages someone else could take that role. For example, yesterday night, no one could hit shots except Gradey so not much to work with.

Hold him accountable, but also don’t be surprised when the rebuild includes rebuilding Scottie’s perspective on the game. He is an Uber talented and intelligent basketball player with the potential to be a superstar in the league. We have to be patient as growth is “ not always linear” and there isn’t a whole lot else to be hopeful on right now with this team (for now).

  18. Drew_You_To_91

To play devil’s advocate here, Scottie has hard far from a normal first 3 years for a top 5 pick. Typically your team has its worst season in your rookie year but Scottie got to experience a winning team right away. Second year he got the sophomore slump a bit but the team around him as a whole really regressed (for a variety of reasons). And now in his third year he’s having his best statistical season and he’s seen his best teammates leave and is having his most losing season in probably his whole life as a basketball player. I’m sure he hates losing and it’s been evidently a hard adjustment for him this season at times. That being said his attitude can’t just be given a pass.

  19. The criticism is not about team losing. But about his pouty attitude. Has some Vince carter vibes all over again.

  20. Your use of the meme don’t align with what you’re trying to say, how am I supposed to take someone who can’t understand a meme seriously

  21. larrylegend1990

Idc that he plays bad. But the lack of effort and complacency is alarming

  22. Are people really questioning the rebuild around Scottie lol? We have a 22 year old all star point forward, who guards 1-4 and the paint, threatens triple doubles, gets to the line, and has a 3pt shot, and is best known for closing out 4th quarters, and clean medicals.

Yeah he’s a work in progress… he’s 22, that’s common. Most top players are not close to finished products at that age. This is especially true for guys with an ‘all around’ type skill set.

    He’s an untradable asset period.

  23. WhatShouldTheHeartDo

mfers be complaining about shit they wanted, meanwhile I try to find little ways to be excited about the next game.

  24. q1someguy

I criticized him while Siakam was here. Y’all are just late.
