RIDICULOUS! – Stephen A. AGREES with Mad Dog’s take on Shaq’s Magic jersey retirement 👀 | First Take

Big moment for Shaq last night the Magic retired his jersey in Orlando where he spent the first four years of his career and led them to their first ever NBA Finals appearance Jack is just the fourth player have his jersey retired with at least three different franchises along with Bill Russell will Chamberlin

Pete marovic okay Mad Dog yeah my fellow historian my fellow Professor my fellow Angry Dog uh tell me this are you good with uh the Magic mavage by the way with the with New Orleans he had the LA you know he went the LSU so that it’s really

Kind of two they listen I’m a Shaq fan and I was in Orlando when I got the team I worked I saw I Pat Williams and all the guys he was there four years they got swept by the Bulls horrifically in his last year they got murdered by

Elijahwan why don’t we where Scott Skyles is next I mean my goodness gracious he bailed he went to the Lakers and the magic fell apart for eons I I’m a little I got to be fair I mean you got to be it’s four years they did not win

They got smoked in the final and all powered to him theato got him out of there to go play with Kobe and La for crying out loud yet now we’re going to retire as Jersey that’s a little rough I can see if they won a championship I can

See if they beat Jordan and they got moulded by the Bulls I me the year oh they got killed they got destroyed they got killed and he was pretty good you don’t think he put Orlando on the map oh no and that’s where he made his name no

No Lakers definitely made name Lakers okay Lakers this is you you you cannot be this is ridiculous I mean again Scout how about Nick Anderson we do him too that SC let’s let’s I want to hear from Stephen A I’m GNA say this to you in shaqs Four Seasons with the magic 27.2

Points per game second in the NBA to Michael Jordan led the league 58% shooting all four years average 12 and a half rebounds which also led the NBA four Allstar Selections in Four Seasons reached an NBA finals went to two Conference Finals having said that shocked the world I agree with doggy

Wow doggy wow that’s right let me say this let me say this I understand what the magic is doing and I’m getting ready to drop that but from a basketball perspective when you talk about retiring jerseys there’s you usually a significant lengthier period of time that you spent

With the franchise that was not what happened here now I will say this the Orlando Magic have never won a championship okay so we got to take that into consideration he is clearly the greatest player in franchise history we have to acknowledge that we also have to

Acknowledge the fact that I mean again what else do you have to cheer for and here’s the biggest thing he still lives there he still has a home there all of those is whether he was in LA Miami or anywhere else he never gave up his when he

Retired okay when he retired when he announced his retirement Shaquille O’Neal did it from his home in Orlando How will I know I was there it’s same crib that he’s had he loves it there he loves the people there he’s very philanthropic very charitable he is entrenched in that

Orlando Community they love the ground he walks on so it makes sense but what doggy is saying from a purely basketball standpoint to be there just for years guys you just made the argument against yourself go ahead and these things are not purely basketball like I get where

You coming from but they’re not purely basketball which is why I said I understand it but he’s talking purely basketball I’m saying purely from a basketball standpoint he makes a case I I I completely agree with the case been made and I think the sticking point in

The case actually for me is kind of honestly the way that organization has struggled frankly since his depart of course um well they did get to a final with Dwight Howard why don’t we go out there and put him make him you know I had that three three time

Defensive player of the year they won a game in the final Shaq didn’t so why don’t we make that sha huh it’s Shaq he’s one of the most Legend gr Legend gross okay I’m going to try to repeat myself because evidently you didn’t hear

Me what I said was what I said was is that from a basketball perspective in terms of when that usually happens that’s usually reserved for somebody who spends a lengthier period of time not just four years if you here let’s do this cuz you’re you’re a brilliant

Businessman if you own the Orlando Magic right would you retire shaer and have that moment yes because again what I said was he’s in trench well I’m kind of sick so you’re you’re you’re taking advantage when I’m still sick but that’s okay you’re going to pay you’re going to

She knows I’m going to get it back she knows I’m going to get it back so when I get you back don’t get upset cuz I got all year to get you but I’m just not will be be bopping around this weekend in Indianapolis at the Celebrity Game

Orlando Magic the Orlando Magic did the right thing for their organization in their City because of what he means to them but from doggy’s historical basketball perspective people who play four years at a place and don’t have a championship to show for it don’t get their jerseys retired and hanging in the

Rafters that especially when you left town okay to go to Los Angeles when they wanted to keep you and Jerry West came and got you okay relax it’s Valentine’s Day let’s try all be nice that’s all all time great the greatest ever at his position top five in the world I

Mean top five ever you know so you give him a look like that for the game he is licking his chops all right Mad Dog you just heard KD time you agree no how do I make him top five ever when I got Kareem Wilton Russell and LeBron and Jordan

That’s five right there I didn’t give you magic I didn’t give you a bird I didn’t give you a Duncan I didn’t give you a shack I mean how in the world could he be tough by that he’s not even better than Durant and I’m going to have

To putting Durant in the top 10 that’s listen he’s a nice shooter nobody’s arguing a nice shooter that is disrespectful and that is messed up no it’s not me he’s an amazing let me interject because this is a quick seg I get where you’re coming from here’s what

In all seriousness first of all I don’t put Wilt up in this phenomenal as he was because he has two titles to will to Bill Russell’s 11 and they were Nemesis so I I look at it from that perspective but I get what you’re saying here’s the

Only part that I want you to understand and it’s just a consideration no he may not be top five but he’s the greatest shooter on Earth he’s the greatest shooter we’ve ever seen when you consider his range how how you have to guard him from the time he steps past

Half court and a defense has to put its head on a swivel I know that Magic Johnson is the the greatest quintessential Point God who ever lived but when you talk about impact from that position because of what he creates the fear the Fright that he implements that he invokes because of his

Marksmanship I think that you have to look at it from that perspective and easily have him as top 10 easily yes because of because of the impact he has on offense because of the range and how accurate 40% career shoot 41% shooter from three-point range and and he could

Pull up from 40 40 you got a series to win for your life right I gave you a choice Curry or Bird game winner no the win the series four games to get one shot is I agree with you about that okay you know what you got to take bird I’m

Gonna tell you what I say all the time I’d give some i’ give bird the last two minutes almost against I’m not even talking about that I’m just talking over I got to look at Curry to all right all right well bird was a bad Brother and

Big and could do more things I get that but I’m just talking about the impact of Curry’s shooting ability and what Havoc that causes how do we ignore that as basketball people he’s a wonderful shooter I’m not disputing that but from an overall perspective you want to put

Him in the top 10 in the history of the league but it’s not just about shooting and it’s not just like literally just shooting you literally have the fear of God in you tomi’s mid court and that compromises defenses all over the place and opens up the floor for other people

Around you because you’re worried about him pulling up from 40 we’ve never seen this never never that’s the difference nice little Shooter

  1. Can't take anything they seriously when they have two women cackling and giggling the whole time. Espn has gone south these past few years.

  2. Let me say it again …
    No 1 Michael Jordan
    2. Kareem Abdul Jabbar
    3. Bill Russell
    4. Kobe Bryant
    5. Lebron James
    6. Magic Johnson
    7. Larry Bird
    8. Tim Duncan
    9. Stephen Curry
    10. Shaquille O' Neal

  3. How are they just glossing over Dwight like this. I love Shaq I’m a huge lakers fan but come on dawg Dwight did way more in Orlando.

  4. Top 10 no doubt at all, Top 5 is hard to justify with how many talented players we have seen in history

  5. MJ had had his jersey retired by the heat …and he never even played there 🤦🏾‍♂️ yet ppl question Shaq having his retired? 😮‍💨

  6. Mad Dog didn’t lie – it’s only 4 years and for millennial basketball fans that 4 years is just as important as all basketball history but if we’re not just talking millennials, those Magic years are a blip and blemish on Shaq’s legacy. He has stuff he can be proud of from his tenure there BUT his all time legacy was created and lives in LA

  7. Mad Dogg is kinda right…he left and became a champion with other teams ..if im owner i wouldn't retire a person's jersey after only doing 4 years. Especially when they didn't win a chip

  8. this dog guy doesnt know sports, Shaq named TOP 50 Greatest at 4th year. Now that means alot, these fools just reading box scores and archives but no context

  9. Finally someone sees the light mad dog I been saying it for years curry’s just a nice shooter that’s it nothing more nothing less we will see someone even better shooting the ball at the end of the day I don’t think he’s even close to the greatest shooters he’s great not the greatest not even close.

  10. Definitely not the greatest Magic in history what? I no howard got a lot going on but bruh the disrespect lol

  11. Mad dog is there as a favor from S.A.S. or something. If he wasnt there NO ONE would notice or care

  12. They say a broken clock is right twice a day, and mad dog is right even less. This might be the only time in history I agree with mad dog…

  13. Stephen A. and most people STILL don't understand the deal with this Curry kid. He has been allowed to develop into a great shooter; and that's because of the times we live in. In the 60's and 70's there wasn't even a 3 point line, so he had no place there. In the 80's and 90's (even 2000's) the defense was way too rough for him, and he probably would've gotten hurt… BAD.

…Plus the mind set from that time was different. If you shot 2 straight 3 pointers, you were going to the bench, (even if you made them). So guys like Chris Mullin, Bird, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller and others (who were MUCH BETTER than Curry) were never given the proper chance to become really great shooters like Curry.

We had to live in an era where players just want to kiss each other, everybody wants to be soft and understanding, get offended for everything, whine and just be a total tutty fruity to allow a skinny 6'3" guy to shoot unbothered and make him some kind of god. Lame.

  14. monica mcnutt is so fkn unbearable….why is she still employed by ESPN…..no matter who is talking she sits there making stupid, undermining and dismissive facial emotions. everytime stephen A talks she has this disgusting aura about her. all her points are so so so so dumb as well. fire this lady pleaseeeeeeeee!!!!

  15. The disrespect to Dwight is insane. Shaq is not the magics best player of all time. 3x DPOY, 8x All NBA, 5x All defense, 2x blocks leader, 5x REB leader. Now if you wanna talk about careers outside of the magic then ofc it’s shaq but for the magic? Come on
