  1. Hope J Collins isn’t too hard on himself. It happens!

  2. JazzPlusEagles

I feel bad for Collins. Fought hard af for that rebound and was devastated at himself

  3. pineappleactavis

Not a jazz fan but you guys got a bright future just need some discipline.

  4. SprewellsFam

Hardy should have called a timeout when Collin’s grabbed that rebound. I was yelling at the tv

  5. That’s on Coach Hardy for not calling a timeout when you have two. We aren’t in that position without Collins

  6. FERFreak731

We needed these last 3 games. I guess tanking time. Key better make first team all rookie

  7. Hardy should have called a timeout when Collins was stuck under the basket with nowhere to go. Collins had lost all awareness of time left and had like ten limbs all around him.

  8. Key with a great game and some very rookie moments to end the 4th

  9. #JohnCollinsDidNothingWrong

Seriously, Hardy shoulda called a timeout when he got the rebound

  10. Sexton could shoot 10% the rest of the season and I still wouldn’t want to hear him mentioned in trades ever again.

  11. DoubtsAndHopes

Will Hardy saving his timeout for the next game 🤔

  12. John Collins had one turnover the entire game and it just had to be that one. The Baptist played a great game but mistakes happen

  13. Ultra competitive, entertaining, come back loss with our rookie popping off? We just witnessed the most beautiful tank game and I hate it

  14. Hooray for coming back, but Jesus, can you play defense for more than 6 minutes?

  15. hdmetric99

That 4th quarter was electric. Seemed like we couldn’t break the deficit into single digits and we go on a great run just off of PURE HUSTLE from Sexton and Collins. Markkanen’s shot started falling and my goodness it was beautiful. Keyonte had a career night but knew to step back, play the role of a distributor, and played solid defense.

I can’t be mad at this loss at all. Yes, there was the costly travel from Keyonte and the throwaway by Collins… but that unit basically played the entire 4th quarter, fought back, and didn’t give up.

Honestly this gave lots of optimism heading into the break. This team still has fight and talent even with the L. Keyonte is gonna be a monster.

    ^^^we ^^^just ^^^need ^^^to ^^^clean ^^^up ^^^the ^^^defense

  17. I don’t care who you are, I still love Collins!! What an effort by the team tonight.

  18. LevelMeaning8260

A much more promising end to the game, looks like we are figuring some stuff out post trade deadline

Keyonte breakout game glad he’s been starting recently

    GAME NOTES:

-Keyonte George HAS ARRIVED. An insane first half where he hit 6 3’s, followed by another insane 3rd quarter where he went head-to-head with Klay Thompson, each player throwing haymakers at the other.

-Keyonte is the player of the game. 33 points, 11-122 shooting, 9-116 from 3, 2-3 from the line, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 2 turnovers, 1 foul, in 41 minutes. He broke the franchise record for 3’s in a game for a rookie [with this tough look.](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758335253083824291?s=20) Just [look at some](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758337108748698009?s=20) of [these shots](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758334326599770277?s=20) that [he’s hitting.](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758315282446311576?s=20) What in the world man. His confidence was off the charts. Pull-up 3’s? No problem. [Tough defense on Curry?](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758316737773420636?s=20) Again, no problem. He was everywhere on both ends, really sticking with Curry defensively, and one-upping his shooting tonight. [Here’s another play that highlights his defensive potential, although there was a BS call at the end which I don’t agree with.](https://x.com/UtahJazzClips/status/1758345827158827517?s=20) Keyonte did have a bad travel call late in the fourth, but I’m not worried about it. He shrugged it off quickly, and will learn from it.

-Collin Sexton had a stellar game as well. Our starting backcourt had 68 combined points on 40 shot attempts. Sexton finished with 35 points, 10-18 shooting, 3-8 from 3, 12-13 from the line, 3 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 3 turnovers, and 2 fouls in 33 minutes. He too had an insane night. He hit [this pullup middy over Wiggins,](https://x.com/UtahJazzClips/status/1758333821378769341?s=20) had [this great read to a cutting Collins,](https://x.com/JacksonLloydNBA/status/1758328729183379803?s=20), and this [beautiful dump down bounce pass to Collins for an easy 2.](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758326813057855669?s=20) The 3 guard lineup we ran with Keyonte, Sexton, & Clarkson was pretty lethal offensively, we just really struggled defensively, mainly on Klay Thompson. He was massive down the stretch with great defense, and even better offense to put us in a position to tie the game. He had a wide open 3 pointer to tie the game as time expired, and it was just long.

-Lauri Markkanen had his worst game in a jazz uniform. 6-22 shooting, 4-11 from 3, 4-4 from the line, 13 rebounds (4 offensive), 3 assists, 20 points. He had some serious tunnel vision. I think that the absence of Kelly O is making his life as a scorer harder. He isn’t getting as many clean looks, and when he does get the ball, it seems like he is hell-bent on getting a shot up. Which isn’t the worst thing, but he has been in a rut ever since the trade deadline. Lauri’s last 4 games he’s averaged just 19.3 ppg on sub 42% shooting. We need to get him back on track, hopefully the all star break is what he needs. [He did have this nice putback dunk that looked really cool and difficult.](https://x.com/UtahJazzClips/status/1758342233084829882?s=20) He did come alive in the fourth, hitting two big 3 pointers, but really struggled the first 42 minutes of the game, starting off shooting a miserable 1/14 from the field. Thank goodness he was able to salvage it in the fourth a bit.

-Jordan Clarkson had a pretty good night, despite shooting 3-8 from the field and 1-5 from 3. He got the line 7 times, going 6-7, for a total of 13 points. The main thing with his game was his playmaking, 9 assists tonight was second best on our team. He was [dishing out great passes](https://x.com/UtahJazzClips/status/1758339953455439998?s=20) which led to good looks, which benefits everybody. His gravity on his drives really opens up the floor for everybody else, but it requires some tough passing, which he has been pretty accurate on recently. He had an unreal touch pass assist off an OREB late in the game that was draw dropping. [Like look at this insane play.](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758346327979917728?s=20)

-Walker Kessler didn’t really light up the box score, just 4 points on 1-2 shooting, but a perfect 2-2 from the line, 6 rebounds (3 offensive), 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 turnover, 3 fouls in 25 minutes. But, he was pretty good at locking down the paint tonight. His one block [was absolutely ridiculous,](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758319337444901099?s=20) it is tough to contest that shot like he did, much less get a block, without fouling in that position. He is really struggling playing next to John Collins though.

-John Collins had a good offensive & rebounding night, 18 points on 8-14 shooting, 1-3 from 3, 13 rebounds (4 offensive), 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 1 very, very costly turnover in 31 minutes. His defense is absolutely atrocious. He really is such a negative on that end of the ball. The offensive impact he has does not outweigh the negative impact he has defensively. His rebounding is really good, I’ll give him that. I love the way he grinds for those boards. But, there was one defensive possession in the third where Collins was in the paint the entire possession, and GS had 2 OREB’s on him. He just needs to get more consistent defensively, and be locked in on rebounds on every possession. [I’m just sick at this late possession from him. Great OREB, terrible, terrible turnover.](https://x.com/splashdubs/status/1758347424995966985?s=20) (there may be an argument that the refs missed a foul call on that Lauri 3, but I’m not gonna complain about the refs.) Besides the costly mistake, I would say he had a good/great offensive night, good/great rebounding night, terrible defensive night.

-Taylor Hendricks had 16 minutes, and made his only shot, which was a 3 pointer. 3 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 turnovers in those 16 minutes. [Here was his shot make](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758318296045338823?s=20) which looked a lot better than last nights. Hopefully with more playing time he can be more impactful.

-Kris Dunn is thriving off the bench in my eyes. 8 points, 2-3 from the field (all attempts from 3), 2-2 from the line, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, but 3 turnovers. He was mainly tasked with guarding Klay in the 3rd, but nobody could stop Klay. Overall I’m fairly content with Kris Dunn’s role tonight.

-THT played 5 minutes, was a -9, shot 1-2 from the field, his only make being a 3, had 1 assist, and 2 fouls. [I will say this play by him was very good.](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1758322890095948000?s=20) I liked that he didn’t rush a shot, and made a great pass off of his drive, made a tough pass to the opposite corner, and found an open hole in the defense for him to get an open 3.

-The fight of this team is incredible. How many 4th quarter comebacks have we had as a team? Credit to Will Hardy for sticking with the hot hands, although it meant some players played basically the entire second half (Keyonte).

-My main gripe with Hardy tonight was that he should’ve called a timeout after he saw Collins was trapped. At that point we had 2, and it would’ve bailed us out. He had the opportunity, and I think that it was more costly than John’s turnover in my eyes. He could’ve saved the game, but I’m trying not to be too hard on him. He’s a second year coach, and he will learn these things. But damn a timeout would have been huge.

-Some things we did great tonight on: Guarding Steph. We limited him to just 16 points on 4-14 shooting. We also did a great job rebounding on both ends, outrebounding GS both offensively & defensively. We also did a fantastic job of capitalizing off of the turnovers of GS. Although we lost the turnover battle, we had 29 points off of their turnovers, compared to them having just 12 off of ours.

-Some things we need to improve on: Guarding the hot hand. It’s easier said than done, and Kris Dunn did a hell of a job, but Klay was just better tonight. We also need to do better at forcing players to hold the ball when we are on defense. GS had 42 assists on 49 makes tonight. Lastly, we need to make sure we don’t dig ourselves into a big hole. We were down 19 in the 3rd, and it’s a miracle we were even in a position to win it.

    26-30.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that we only lost by one possession, despite that being some of the shittiest and most biased officiating of all time?

  22. JoeIngles

Although we lost, Keyonte in this game really reminded me of that game Donovan had as a rookie against New Orleans, where he dropped 41. The end result was different, but the shot making and confidence reminded me of rookie Don.

I’m a Warriors fan active in the Warriors sub and I must say you got a great community here. In our sub, the blame game starts as soon as the buzzer sounds after a tough loss. It gets ridiculously toxic at times. It’s nice to see no one blaming Collins for that turnover in this sub. I can only imagine the wrath that will be brought upon a Warriors player who would make a similar mistake in a game like this. I wish your team luck! I hope our teams both get in the playoffs.
